Pope is the best of a bad bunch. Butland has the same mistakes in him as Karnesis and the Everton one is in the spotlight due to pure Over hype by the British media following his over use when at Sunderland. If Heaton was fully fit and had played some games Burnley would actually own England’s N01 and 2 goalies.
Of course that is true. But they also drive a hard bargain constantly looking for value for money. They may see spending a large sum on Butland as irresponsible when they or the manager may regard they could better spend it in other areas. Sensible fans do care about how much a club spends. With the number of clubs have left the PL and now endure financial hardship growing numbers of supporters unless they follow the super rich clubs don't demand they sign players left, right and centre. I'm sure Sunderland fans are in bitter recrimination over the amount they have spent in transfer fees, wages over players they were only too happy to see initially. The Pozzo's unlike Short are always thinking long term making allowances for the possibility of relegation in all they do. That is who they bring in, the wage structure and the releases clauses.
The cash isn't limitless. Expensive keeper on mega package or decent keeper plus striker or left back ?
Why is everyone discounting the possibility of Pontus Pilot contesting the number one spot. He may only be 19 but he already has a full international cap for Sweden?
We have on the Swede, by the look at the history and the way people are thinking on here, it seems like only a small outlay will be made. Hence my tounge in cheek comment.
I was hopeful of this a couple of months ago, but if he's judged as not even in the top 3 of Swedish keepers, is he good enough to be our number 1?
I assume this is now dead in the water as Liverpool we be buying up any spare keepers in the hope of finding one that can catch a ball
Didn't the forum sage say he was Sweden's number one? Or is asking that question blowing things out of all proportion?
De Gea wasn't much much older when he joined United. Courtois was young at Athletico too. Donnarumma for AC Milan. Obviously the above are all top keepers but Dahlberg is very highly rated. Wouldn't be too concerned about his age.
The bigger concern would be the way our fans can turn after a few mistakes. I would like to see Dahlberg given a go this season but can our fans be trusted to stick with him through a couple of errors which might cost points?
That's much too late. This forum needs him to be a quivering wreck before he even sets foot on our hallowed turf. Perhaps followed by a chorus of "Sweden's Sweden's number 6" as he walks out for the first time.
Being linked to him again, but he's more likely to end up at Bournemouth than us I would suspect. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...-Bournemouth-planning-moves-Jack-Butland.html
£25mil?? Not a chance! Not worth more than £15mil. Stoke’s 11th best player this season according to whoscored, a team that will finish 16th or 17th in the championship. Plus he only has 2 years left on his current contract and wants out. If any club is stupid enough to pay that, it’s Bournemouth.
Given their young GK's performance yesterday, Muff would be foolish to also pay a lot of money for such an average player in Butland, and it might leave the Muff keeper miffed.
He did well. It was refreshing to see a Bournemouth keeper match the outfield players diving efforts.
And he got up straight away whenever he realised the ref was having none of it - the outfield players could learn something from him.
