Sounds about right ! As was constantly noted through the last few weeks, the bookies had it right, they know what they are doing. About 200-1 and those long odds proved to be correct. So we are 9/4 second favourites for relegation next season at the moment, so we are already facing an uphill task to stay up . Hopefully a productive transfer window and i) a new ambitious manager, or ii) the continuity of retaining Gracia (delete as appropriate) will see those odds move out.
Oh come on - you lose your comedy card if you don't make that one. I like and enjoy your posts - some of the best thought out ones on here - of course I often disagree but that is what the forum is for.
Why are referees so weak? Ref correctly blows for halftime in Chelsea v Huddersfield as Willian lazily ambles over to take a corner. Azpilicueta is in the refs face for a about 30 seconds at point blank range (leading others). Put a yellow card straight on the child's forehead and then red card the tool if he keeps going. Who do refs let these pathetic individuals do this?
Huddersfield 1 up Depoitre becomes the second player this season to score home and away v Chelsea. We all know the first!
This looks like being the first season since 2001-02 that none of the clubs who won promotion in either the Football League or the Premier League the previous season will be relegated.
Morata is dreadful. A hugely expensive flop. All he has left is his complaining and waving arms around. I realise how much I dislike Chelsea when I am delighted that they fail in even modest goals like coming 4th.
To be fair, when they have Chelsea throwing everything at them because they are desperate for the points, I’m not sure anyone could expect them do be doing anything less.
I do have to laugh at us constantly being amongst the favourites for relegation despite never being in the relegation zone for the past three seasons.
Yeah I know but how long can it last ? Just hope they keep predicting us as long as our potential targets don't believe it !
The unglamorous teams who weren't going to pick up any points from the top clubs in their last few games seem to have confounded expectations. I can think of one which will buck that trend this weekend
Also, 8 points against the three relegated teams, that is...poor. I dare say we are near the bottom of that particular table
I know I said this already but please Man City absolutely smash Southampton on Sunday at least 6-0 and please Swansea take the handbreak off and stick 4 past Stoke. I would absolutely love to see Hughes’ smug face if this happens. The Stoke players might just throw the game anyway, they hate Hughes and are blaming him for relegation. I’m sure they would love to pay him back after the comments he has made about them this week. I really want Southampton relegated.
Sky clearly don't expect Swansea to produce anything that might save themselves as they are showing the Chelsea and Liverpool games on Sunday forgoing the relegation battle in effect.
Swansea only have their poor finishing to blame and two outstanding saves from the Southampton keeper kept them from winning that game. It’s not impossible for Swansea to send Southampton down but They should at least beat Stoke, and it massively depends on how goal hungry Man City are at breaking any more records.
I expect a narrow Swansea win say 1-0 and a narrow MC win that keeps MC and Soton fans happy say 2-0. Not a chance there will be a cricket score. Even less chance than there was of Watford being relegated this season
So, as it turns out Deeney's goal against West Bromwich on 3rd March was the one that kept us up. If we are mid table on a bad run next March can we please remember this.
Let’s be honest many of us are not going to forget this season in a hurry. A great start, dreaming of Europe then Silva morphed into a reptile and his attitude filtered down to the players as we fell down the leauge faster than Deeney running from a salad bar.
No - if Wet Spam beat Man U tonight we could go there on Sunday and give Spurs a chance to finish second while finishing 10th ourselves
Sur Surely we want Man U to beat W Ham so that they have nothing to play for and a cup final to stay out of trouble for.
This is a good point, It wouldn't take much for Stoke to rest a Shaqiri or a Crouch, worth taking a punt as the odds are huge too. Could you imagine how tasty Saints v Stoke would be in the Championship next season if so? - Ouch!
Do you think Stoke dislike Mark Hughes enough to ship 4+ goals against Swansea who have only scored 27 goals in 37 games? They would need to put in a performance so bad it would look like deliberate cheating. My money is on Stoke not wanting to finish in 20th and going for the win.
Swansea winning and Southampton losing is likely, however this requires a 10 goal swing. It's not impossible considering the two fixtures, but I don't think Southampton will go to City with any intent of attacking. It's a game of damage limitations. I think it could be close, but I think 10 goals is too much, unless Stoke do something very dubious.
Basically no but stranger things have happened in sport, I can see Man City running up a cricket score if they click, the irony is Swansea probably will blow it their end
