My rather long and convoluted post was just the specific example that I remember in detail. For obvious reasons. But what I also remember in general was that the surliness and arrogance was wall-to-wall. On two visits. And I've indicated that to you in the same post and earlier too. I was half expecting that you'd go down the line of 'he's only got one example' and you haven't failed to disappoint. But you should also note that on the strength of my general perceptions I never wanted to go to the place again. Not because I had an agenda, nor because I had a preconceived prejudice but simply due to my own findings.

So I'll repeat my view. 'You largely bring it upon yourselves'. Or at least the Israelis do. You may consider that finding rationally and think about it or continue in a state of denial. Up to you. But if you think it's completely invalid then you will continue to 'get into trouble'. I suspect you know that there's at least a grain of truth in it.

GoBE has recently had a right go at 'pikeys' on another thread. Backed up by others. I tend to agree with his sentiments but his view wasn't backed up by personal experience. Just hearsay beyond the particular case in question, albeit rather a large volume of it. Different then. But his post hasn't been taken down on spurious 'racist' grounds. So how do the mods. make their decisions then? Based on there being a number of jews on here and very few, if any, 'pikeys'? Interesting. Anyway, you have absolutely no right not to be taken to task as a collective based on my personal experience.

Finally, you won't be surprised to learn that I'm a supporter of the Palestinian cause. But I also have sympathy with the Israeli one. It must be tough living in a country surrounded by enemies who would like nothing better than to see you kicked into the sea. And maybe that underlying insecurity might go at least part of the way to explaining my findings there. Always fair you see.

For various reasons, there is no point in replying in any detail to this.

Said what we wanted to say & can draw a line under it.

OK. Fair enough. I'll just finish with this then. Why do you think you've been getting a bad press for 2000 years? Since Jesus overturned some tables in a temple. Everybody else's fault? Or something closer to home?

I don't think you understand what drawing a line under it entails.

I’m finding all this back-and-forth stuff rather tedious but entertaining. Whilst I’m not sure what you are meant to have said that is anti-Semitic, what I will say is this...

I’m not Jewish. I’m not religious. But I do travel far and wide for work. Just prior to Christmas, I was in Tel-Aviv and surrounding areas for a number of weeks and found both Jewish and Christians (and I’m sure atheists too) to be amongst the most welcoming and hospitable people I’ve met in a long time. So to make such sweeping generalisations about people and to pander to stereotypes is quite poor form.

I have no doubts that you may have experienced what you say you did on your travels. But you admit they were some time ago. Perhaps you might need to take a more ‘current day’ trip to realise that you’re wrong to still hold the same view.

    Tedious but entertaining?

    Is that possible?

Perhaps it is an apposite description of the second half of QSF's season. :D

Fair point. But seeing as it's been going on for 2000+ years it's obviously quite tricky to 'draw a line under it'. So where does the fault lie? I'm simply pointing out my observations. Not defending a 2000+ years cause.

Burnsy. I'm very pleased that you found a rather different experience on your own travels. I'd have liked to have done the same. But I'd given it a 20 year gap anyway which should have been enough and found the same. If I went again next year (another 18 year gap) maybe I'd find something different. But I wouldn't be holding my breath.

I don't do 'sweeping generalisations' or 'pander to stereotypes'. I have simply reported on my own findings. Your failure to recognise that reflects on your own inadequacy.

...and then applied it to a whole race in a "sweeping generalisation" kind of way...??

Interesting. Why do I get the feeling here that I'm being ganged up on by a bunch of zionist apologists who simply don't get it? Probably because I am. Hey ho. I really couldn't give a monkey's.

I will continue to report as I see fit.

I don't give a monkey's if I'm being regaled from all and sundry and am expected to 'give up in the face of adversity'. That should be crystal clear. That won't be happening.

So my current perception is that the collective opposition don't want to go anywhere near the '2000 year question' on the grounds that it might incriminate them.

    A classic diversionary tactic.

    As is your prerogative.

However, if you have in anyway read what I have said to you in my post, as the words of a Zionist Apologist, I’d suggest you may have some deeper issues regarding the subject matter.

On the contrary. I think this has now turned into a perfectly decent and intelligent conversation albeit somewhat removed from the original intention of the thread.

i'm getting this sensation too. its like i read the first 90% and get taken on some long and highly descriptive story only to have the rug pulled out from beneath me in the final two sentences which seem to have no obvious connection to what happened before, but are clearly stated as the whole point of the whole story.

long setup for a sexcapade story - a girl with a tattoo owns a cafe
long setup for a 60 yo mixing with 20 yo story - man gets kicked out of various venues
long setup for a birdwatching trip story - man doesn't get re-hired by company he used to work for (hates jews)

Utterly incorrrect. The failure to address the truth, and to call it 'like it is' is what makes the world a mess.

I have no agenda here. Endlessly repeated. But the failure to address the '2000+ year question' and consistently put it all down to the fault of a 'gentile+ conspiracy' is what's getting you your bad press.

Savvy? Doesn't look like it to me. 2000 years and counting ...

Call it "like it is" ? Or call it like you believe it to be based on 2 experiences 20 odd and 40 odd years ago ?
I wouldn't dream of prejudging anyone I meet based on race, religion, sexuality, looks etc. I take people as I find them. Surely that's what most do ? To hate a whole race based on those 2 experiences and be pushing for a debate about "the 2000 year issue" or whatever you call it on what is primarily a football forum is bizarre at best.

60/20. Hardly. Never needed to get re-hired. Nothing against Jews per se. It seems increasingly to me that the diaspora of WFC have very little of value to recount at all. Which is very sad. But there you go ...

Just read this thread after a few days away. Wow.

All it needs is a row about homophobia and we have a hat trick of (ahem) 'discussions' about isms in a thread not intending to be about isms in the first place!

Conversations on these forums often go 'tangential' which is part of the fun of them. I don't do hating anybody. Or any race either. But I will call it as I see it. And I also see (as I'm sure you do) any amount of blind prejudice. Not for me.

So should I expect to see anything different in Israel now after another 17 years following the 37/17 bit? Maybe, but I somehow doubt it.

B.t.w. They weren't just two experiences. They were two COLLECTIVE experiences. And my collective experiences on those two trips to Israel were that the Israeli jews were a bunch if complete c.nts. So that's clear then.

The 2000 y.o. question is perfectly valid. Why is it that you're hated so much after all these years? All everybody else's fault eh? Sure, this is primarily a football forum. But it has other aspects to it. I'm surprised you haven't noticed seeing as you're engaging there.

Why? I really am a fair bloke. And it was just getting interesting. Questions that will always remain questions will never ever be resolved. I like to have a stab at resolution even if it's tricky to achieve. Sod the o.p.

The Duchess of Kent once locked herself in the lavatory in the Royal Box on Centre Court.
One of the bodyguards had to free her as another guest needed to visit.
I wasn't there but I thought I'd try and lighten the mood.
I've also,George III style in Blackadder III,taken to saying 'penguin' at the end of every post, although I'm going for carrots.
    Carrots.

Was it the current Duchess of Kent or a previous incumbent? Current D of C fine. Previous incumbents. Questionable.

We had the Duke of Kent officially open Gosling I think.
He was there in some capacity at any rate.
I became concerned that I would mispronounce 'Kent' for something akin to the 'Marlon says your a ****' song.
True enough, whilst talking to one of my ladies groups,I did just that!
My group thought it was funny. I was horrified.
