Got to let Scotland have their moment in the sun occasionally I guess! Sounds like they deserved the win and we had a couple of contentious tries disallowed - then again so did Wales at Twickers of course. Ireland to win the Grand Slam?
So Ireland win the Grand Slam with England coming 5th.. Will the knives be out for Eddie Jones - said a lot in the media but produced very little on the pitch. What is it with our national sporting teams?
We were lucky to beat wales, thought Ireland would win but that easily, really does not look good for Engalnd with the World Cup a year away, really don't know what has gone wrong, Defo stick with Eddie congratulations Ireland.
I secretly rather enjoy seeing England lose at rugger - despite not being a Celt. It takes the superior attitude of the fans down a peg or two.
A very enjoyable sporting occasion for the Country. Everyone in Ireland was expecting a bigger challenge from England than actually transpired. Only Ireland’s third ever grand slam. A very young Irish team, gives hope that we can compete with the big boys for a few years.
England just never got going. They looked poor in the opening game against Italy and the rest of the tournament was not any better.
England shouldn't be too worried. Just a few years ago they were going out of the World Cup in the group phase so perspective please.
No side has ever won the 6 nations 3 years on the trot. The last round was pretty much a dead rubber. Eddie Jones might have got too comfortable with the squad now. I don;t know what he's like behind closed doors but in front of the cameras he seems a bit laid back to me. It's tends to happen to nice blokes as mangers just like Zola with us. When everything is new and everyone is happy it goes along nicely. When a few problems creep in and people's heads drop they might not have the tools to give a bottom kicking. The trick is getting a manager that can be one of the lad but switch on the hairdryer treatment when required.
Not this one. I hated the stupid game there. Pleased Ireland won. But it is at places like WBGS where the pathetic elitism is born. Effing place.
Even ricky school made us play that dreadful sport. Football was looked down upon and despised by our games teacher. I suppose the place still had delusions of ex-grammar school grandeur.
Aye. I bet you had to play it on that crappy other field that was off the school premises though right? (the other side of all saints lane).
I'm no rugby expert, but could our problem be that we seem to always try to run with the ball these days, even when a reasonably safe three points from a penalty are available? Look at the Ireland match, had we converted our three tries and kicked just 1 penalty, we would have drawn the game. England need to stop trying to play the pretty stuff all the time and get back to playing all round rugby, which includes kicking points. Look what always trying to play the pretty stuff has done for Arsenal, they have been accussed of playing "Tippy Tappy" football, because they always try to complicate things by trying to pass the ball to death, instead of playing more direct footabll as and when it is appropriate. Man City mix it up alongside their brilliant football, so if it's good enough for them it should be good enough for others.
