I missed them, only noticed the one at front right.
I have seen some strange looking people in my time, but those women are just unreal.
    Or un dead perhaps.
No wonder supporters of other teams think us Watford fans are a bit weird!

I'm guessing it's one of those things with old photos and long exposures and if you move it all goes blurry. But oddly it only seems to have affected the women and surely not everyone else remained still.. like the hipster looking bloke up the steps who is looking away from the camera? Or maybe i'm over complicating things and all the women of Watford really were possessed back then!

On the subject of old football crowd pics i found this recently that was in a programme from the 80's. Not sure if anyone solved it back then but i worked it out.

Can anyone tell me where this pic was taken?

An away match on that date and 'Watford' as a descriptor rather than the venue?? Who played in red in 1912? I dunno.

That's right. Warrington actually got it in the Guess the ground thread.
It's St James Park Exeter, where we played that day. I was also able to find the houses to confirm it.. https://goo.gl/maps/DQ2i1FVGPfM2

I brilliant site for old saddos like me is the Watford Archive, www.watfordfcarchive.com, where you can look up any game we have played (plus much more besides) on a given date.

Top marks to whoever created the site if they are reading this. Stevohorn - have you had a hand in it?

Watfordfcarchive.com is the work of Trefor Jones, who has been compiling stats for many years. He also wrote two very fine books – The Watford Football Club Illustrated Who's Who and Season By Season. The website is basically an extension of those two books and the fact he compiles it all for free and puts in online for anyone to enjoy and refer to is absolutely marvellous.

No, fraid not..but i'm always on it.

Without that site and the equally excellent https://oldwatford.com/ i wouldnt be able to make it sound like i knew all this stuff about our club :) I take a keen interest though.. and am willing to take the time to find out so i guess that counts for something.

A couple of good pics on the official site the other day regarding Liverpool, posting them here because not many people bother checking there as it is pretty poor:

This was GT's first win in the top flight during his second spell, meaning that his last and first wins from spells 1 + 2 at the top level with us were 1-0 v Spurs and 0-1 v Liverpool! Mooney the scorer at Anfield, and the man on the bench (in his role as coach) in the above picture the scorer against Spurs.

This game at Anfield was the first time I took my younger brother to an away match (not including Wembley). Of all the many failures I'd seen as a kid, and he got to see this first time up (and a pretty special result at Wembley, also)! I was then convinced he was a lucky omen, so preceded to drag him to every away match from that point on. The 5-0 thrashing by Wimbledon at poxy Selhurst Park was when I finally admitted that whatever good luck he'd brought us, was now officially over:(.

I love the top pic - a who's who of scummy, overrated underachievers - Redknapp, Gerrard, Carragher, Fowler and I think Dominic Matteo. Page and Williams are lucky they didn't get spat on................

Underachievers as a team maybe.. but individually there's some decent careers there.

Anyhow ive started checking that 'Home & away' part of the clubs website (if i can find it!) because i noticed a while back they were sticking up some quality archive photos.
Would you know how to find the previous ones? and have you found the 'Legends' section?

They're looking to the right as streaker had rushed onto the pitch, she showed her ankles, and then ran back across the road to the her house of ill repute in Upton Rd., which Im led to believe is still there today...allegedly, and with absolutely no personal experience of it.

In comparison to how good our press made them out to be, they were certainly underachievers. Only Gerrard had a decent career out of that lot, and even he went went missing on the biggest stage of all - horrendous errors in Euro 2004 & WC 2014, and the slip that cost them their best chance of a league title since 1990. Fowler couldn't get a look in on the international stage, although his club stats are decent, and Redknapp was always injured. The only anomaly is the Champions League win, where even Liverpool fans I know admit that - bar a crazy 10 min spell - they were so second best, it was embarrassing!

Anyway, yeah I've found the legends section but only by accident! I hadn't seen it advertised/mentioned anywhere! They should make more people aware of it as there's some decent stuff there. Did you work out how to access the high res version of the 82/83 team celebration picture they have at the top of it? If not, I've posted it here. Really had to go around the houses in order to access it:mad::

    830514_Team_Celebrate_01_0.jpg

Regarding access to the previous games "home & away" section - I can't find anywhere on the site that lets you get to it, but if you type in the following to Google, you can can access it that way. Again - some good stuff usually posted with it, shame that it's hidden and so few fans will see it:

A conversation for another time & place but i reckon Carra had a decent playing career. Over 500 games for one club.

Thanks again for the tips. I did try to get a decent version of that Liverpool game pic but i dont have your level of talent for it. Really pleased to see that pic as it was probably my favourite match and it's so clear i might be able to see myself in the background!
Here's one for you that came up on that Hornet memorabilia facebook group.

I'll concede I'm probably being overly harsh - mainly due to the fact that so many of my friends "support" Liverpool:confused:. Even as a young kid in the mid 80's, I couldn't understand why you'd want to follow a team 200 miles away from the leafy suburbs of Hertfordshire! Of course, it was because back then they were the best team by a distance. Glory hunting is certainly not a new thing! Interesting that nobody in my age group supports Chelsea or Man Utd - because during the time we were all getting in to football as kids, they were crap!

Haha, so many questions about that picture! The clear white outline around her head suggests some editing of some kind has certainly taken place!

And it looks like the middle of winter! It was a lovely day - we sat and had a picnic on the Vic Road terrace, along with loads of others!

And over Coton's shoulder, the pitch looks flooded! I know that part of the ground did used to have a drainage problem, and there's a well known pic (prob posted by you) of it under water - but I'm certain it was okay that day?? I've mentioned in another thread - we all got on the pitch to play against the team, approx 50/60 of us against 12/13 players. Rod Thomas was taking it past everybody so Tim Sherwood decided to trip him up from behind:D. Thomas was not happy. But I do not remember the pitch being wet at all.

Here's my picture - you can see something over Coton's shoulder, but maybe it's some kind of plastic sheeting?? Certainly a mystery.

74 apparently. Season 73/74 or the following season there were no great cup wins. One theory was it could have been for either just an end of season thing or maybe for Billy Jennings being the top scorer in the 3rd division. The same person said that could be him off to the right and i quote "polishing his trophy"
