Played for NI and they again look like keeping a clean sheet - was he right back or in his natural role?
Are they mental? Why are they playing him out of position? He should be right back or on the wing supporting Deeney
Says something that he walks straight back into the NI team in his natural position but we just try to shoe horn into a role that isn't suited to him...
Regurgitated from somewhere without foundation usually...HITC in a nutshell... I don't doubt Joka wants him...but still http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2017/10/0...ants-january-reunion-with-watfords-craig-cat/
Carthcart has been called up by N Ireland for their freindly at the end of the month! Will he be fit enough!
I imagine he will eventually pull out of the squad, but then again he has missed a lot of international football recently (more than club football!) so potentially he is worried about not getting back into the starting XI
I'd be viewing his selection as an opportunity for precious game time - we'll surely be requiring his services in the run-in, and the more match minutes he gets the better.
Must be frustrating for him but he probably has a good future if Evans and McAuley (spelling) come to the end of their career as Cathcart is younger? Again he was supposed to be fully fit and back in training!
Only a year between him and Evans so I would imagine they will be the two CBs for the forseeable future! I'm very surprised McAuley and Aaron Hughes didn't retire after failing to get to the WC but glad they didn't!
I set an alarm for 2am to watch this one... Not a great decision in hindsight. Solid enough performance from Craig but Hughes was the best of the back 3 and he is ancient. Conditions very tough though and bathe defence, not a great NI line up. Back 3 quite common for Northern Ireland now as we have quite a few good CBs but not much quality elsewhere. Panama were awful though. England should stick at least 3 past them, they really wear bad and incredibly dirty. Wouldn't be surprised if they pick up a red card or two on their way to three defeats. Selected for Michael O’Neill’s 25-man Northern Ireland squad for upcoming two matches at Windsor Park. Well done Craig! He's started this season in excellent form and I reckon after last season's injury disappointment, when he nearly became a 'forgotten man', he's showed the discipline and hard work to come back better than ever. Really impressed. This season could be the best of his career.
I think he should retire from international football because, and I'm not totally sure about this, I think his injury problems started whilst playing for NI and we would not want that to happen again now that he seems to be fit at last.
1) I honestly thought that his recent injury problem started while playing for N Ireland, but as I said earlier I was not 100% certain about that and if you say that is not the case I have no reason to disbelieve you Norn. 2) However, if Craig is going to be suseptible to injury I think retiring from international football would still be a good idea, as hopefully he will have a longer injury free career with us at WFC if he does. 3) I know you are N Irish and you probably want him to carry on playing for your national side, but if he were English I would still be suggesting he retired from the international team, as I would much rather he just concetrated for Watford and hopefully as a result have a longer and more successful playing career with us.
Can't remember exactly where his injury problems started, but they were exacerbated by Holebas and Britos being morons at the start of last season. It was Norn Iron who actually did us a favour, as he managed to get some minutes in the legs in an international friendly before returning to the nitty gritty of Premier League football
Cathcart involved in a mix up for the Bosnia 2nd goal it seems - maybe getting any mistakes out of the way for country!
I know, but he is also quite injury prone, so the less he plays outside WFC the better his chances of playing for us more often.
I’m sure you’d retire from England duty at the peak of your powers in order to minimize the chances of injury.
If you're an England international at least you get to go to major tournaments though. Playing for N.I. is pointless.
Not unheard of. I have indeed retired from England duty and am no longer available for selection. I'm not very far below my peak.
