Watford FC is delighted to confirm the loan signing of forward Gerard Deulofeu from FC Barcelona until the end of the season.
Immense last night. If he can sort his hair he would step up another level. It was pretty clear when he arrived that it was only a loan until the end of the season but if he continues to perform I wonder if there would be any chance of turning it into a permanent signing.
If he plays like last night for the next 12 games, then in the summer a big Premier League club like Leicester or Bournemouth will go in for him.
Really wouldn't surprise me. Barca are desperate to slash their wage bill. Imagine they'd be willing to get rid of a few players over the summer. Deulofeu will likely be one of them.
Exactly a year ago we lost Zarate after just a few matches and never saw him again. Hopefully it's nothing more than a knock and will be fit to face WBA.
I expect its part of the loan agreement that our medical team are "not to lay so much as a finger on him". He's probably been taken down the road to Borehamwood to be seen by their medical experts.
Whilst its no indication as to what the injury is or extent of injury, I feel that Deulofeu was subbed as he may have felt something and didn't want to risk a serious (/further)injury, thus meaning he would not be in contention for a call up to the national squad - and hopefully more playing time at Watford - heres hoping.
It was quite telling on television that he was still being supported down the tunnel and into the dressing room with his arm slung around a Watford staff member's shoulders.
Not expecting any official news of what he's actually done or when he'll be back, so might as well make a random guess as to the nature of the injury. He got clattered by that £27m donkey they brought on and landed awkwardly on his ankle. My guess would be ligament damage. Hopefully just a sprain, so he'll be back by the start of April. But this is Watford, so we've probably seen the last of him due to a tear in those ligaments. Kiko and Janmaat down the right hand side it is then!
Well that is f*cking depressing... Deary me... Even after a positive run of form, there's always something to ruin the week with Watford
Get him back to Barca to have any chance of seeing him again. Don’t let our medical clowns anywhere near him.
Sounds worse in the English translation than the Spanish. Back for the Bournemouth game at the latest I reckon.
I'll go for ankle ligaments and a metatarsal break thrown in for good measure. Hopefully not the last we've seen of him. Kiko, Pereyra, Carrillo, Richarlison, Lukebakio and to a lesser extent Hughes means we aren't horrifically short in his position now at least.
