Thought I would start this one early as it's such a massive game in terms of the season and what it would mean to get a positive result.

    [IMG] vs. [IMG]

Team news is going to be whatever Gracia sees fit and who is up for the fight. If we get any of our injured players back (yeah right), then a few changes would probably suffice.

Whatever the team is, it needs to put in a much better effort than on Saturday. I am sure Gracia got a good look at what he is working with and where things need to improve. Its such a short time from the cup game to this and the one thing Stoke do have on us is less fatigue.

It's a massive game for both clubs - Stoke can go level on points with us if they win and if other results go against us tomorrow and on Wednesday then we really could be in the mire. It's not going to be a pretty game thats for certain, a scruffy goal from a corner could settle it. We generally do quite well at Stoke over the years so it's not a bogey team as such.

I'm going to go for a score draw here. The result will not please either side but at least it would keep us above them before the International Break.

    1-1

Season defining game. The players picked must at least show fight and commitment. Win and I think we will stay up. Lose and I think we will go down. The 3 points are not just vital from a maths point of view but psychologically it could make or break Gracia's tenure.

    2-0 Potters.
Holebas will self combust after Watson asks him to take a throw in.
RC will leave before he arrives at the ground.
    Doom,despair,misery.

I decided to watch some highlights of Saturday. They were only 3 minutes long but in that time it showed Janmaat get beat and literally just give up chasing his man and then later on turning his back on a cross, which of course the Southampton player dummied and had even more time to pick his pass. It's just not good enough, not from Janmaat and not from the majority of the team at the moment.

How do you get that kind of determination and effort into a player? It's Gracia's job to do that but ultimately it has to come from the player and we just have a mentally weak squad at the moment. This game is just as big for Stoke and I fear they will come at us early on like Southampton and we'll crumble.

Some big games below us this week, West Ham v Palace, Brighton v Southampton.

I just can't see us getting anything at the moment, would take a 0-0 draw right now.

Call me a ******ous terd, but I'm looking forward to this one. Thankfully most of the once a season FA cup away day whoppers will not be in attendance.

Where's everyone drinking before? My mate wants to book a table at the harvester next door to the stadium. It didnt go down well on the whatsapp group, but it's his turn to pick the boozer... Tense times.

As for the match, 2-0 stoke.

I remember the newcastle fans saying he didnt have the heart for a relegation battle when we signed him. Our recruitment team must have known this too, so you can't really blame janmaat. He's just a gutless player. If you dont like it, dont sign him. I suppose our owners didnt expect us to ever be in such a perilous position.

Stoke look close to finalising a £15m deal for Galatasaray's Badou Ndiaye (midfielder). Looks like they are trying to get it wrapped up by midday tomorrow in order for him to be eligible to play against us

If Watson starts we will lose. I'm still not confident otherwise; Stoke have had this club's number for a while.

I just don’t know what to think.
My mojo has gone and I’ve lost some of my passion for the team, not helped by the flu that’s floored me.

My gut says more of the same dire effort churned out at Southampton.

They score a scruffy goal. We never capitulate but never look like taking the game to them.
We huff and puff. Very few shots on target.
We put in some sort of attacking effort in the last 10 minutes out of desperation and Gray misses a sitter.
    Game over.
Nil goals, nil points and we slip into the big pit.

My heart says Deeney makes a big leadership difference and he makes amends for the Joe Allen incident with a barnstorming display that inspires the team and helps drag us over the line 1-0. Suddenly things look rosier.

    Gut or heart?
    1-0 loss = misery
    1-0 win = ecstasy

What a sad way to lead a life.

This is going to be grim. Deeney needs to play up front with Gray to have even the most remote chance of scoring.

Very unlikely TD will be with us by then, and if he is, will probably be in a "Silva" state of mind.

God knows why but I’m going to this and actually looking forward to it. Part of this I remember how dreadful we were this time last year against Millwall and then went and won at Arsenal 2 days later. Must play 2 up front and is there anybody else that can play at right back, not Mariappa before anybody mentions him. Not a right back as long as I’ve got a hole in my arse.
The players owe us after shower of **** Saturday

I try to keep a fairly positive outlook and think it just simply has to turn around eventually.

1 win is all it could take to reignite the spark.

Fair play to those of you going.

I'd normally watch it on a stream but have to be out and so will be anxiously checking the score every 5 minutes.

Strongly advise against the Harvester - we tried to get in last year (as its the only place within miles of the stadium) and were turned away because it was packed - which was a relief because it looked even more appalling than you'd expect it to look for a Harvester

I agree that Stoke is now big but, come on folks, nothing is decided in January so any talk of Wednesday being 'season defining' is straight out of the Sky Sports/Paul Merson book of football cliche gibberish. 0-2 away win

Yeah so that's where the cunning plan to book a table comes into play: we will have table service for the booze, and at the same time have some dreadful but cheap food. I can see the logic but I suspect the service will be really slow and defeat the object.

The alternative is, as you say, drinking miles away and having the effort of getting to the stadium. I'm not aware of the sports bar that chap above mentioned though, could be a game changer.

any idea of the name? google maps is not showing anything. Maybe it's shut down.

I think there’s a number of our squad who have lost professional pride. They are happy to just turn up, see who’s fit and whether they have a game or not. The result of that game doesn’t really affect them too greatly. And they react the way they did at full-time on Saturday when they realise the fans notice and call them out on it. They’ve been rumbled...and they don’t like it. I don’t need to name names, the savvy amongst you know the names. And we have a new manager who isn’t known as an authoritarian and we have a captain who seemingly wants out - no one to take them to task. And I want that element out of the club as I believe they are the poison that turns it toxic every year.

Having witnessed the last two performances away from home live and in person, I can't see anything other than a tonking here.

Can't think of any reason why it should suddenly turn round now when we're still forced to play absolute duffers like Holebas and Janmaat, clapped out carthorses like Watson and Mapps and shot-shy shirkers like Carrillo and Gray. Somehow hold out for 0-0 through a goalkeeping wonder performance and win a lucky 90th minute penalty? I'm scrabbling for scenarios.

Much more likely is a two or three to nil humbling with us barely registering a shot on target - again.
