Well he got this current injury returning from the original one in training!

Oh yeah. For sure. It's a disgrace how long he's been out and I'm desperate to see him fit again. But only so I can boo him and hopefully he'll pick up a season-ending injury 3 games later.

In lieu of a report from Dr Emilio, let me submit my own.

Looks like a nasty bout of sciatica.

Woke up on Sunday am with sharp back pain but had a biz trip so pressed on to LHR.

Symptoms surprisingly not alleviated by news of ‘s termination but tolerable until Wednesday. On waking, I couldn’t walk as far as the bathroom, & it wasn’t a large room.

Anyway, back in Blighty & on the meds.

Feel as though I have been playing the Chalobah role.

    COYH!

After we stopped him going to Everton, Silva was going round injecting players in one leg with steroids to cause muscle imbalances throughout the squad. That's the root of the problem.

I understand that when doing the Double Slit Experiment when Deeney is near by they have to turn it into a qudruple slit and then cut through them to make one big hole.

Try whisky. I’d recommend something peaty, from the Western Isles.

    Bruichladdich. Or Isle of Jura.

    Laphroaig just occasionally.

Highland Park also hits the spot.

Quite like Isle of Jura. Never tried Highland Park. To be honest I’d never turn down any whiskey if offered.

Laphroaig is my choice of single malt. Not sure if that first one is a whiskey or a transfer rumour

Highland park, I had once, but from memory, it lacked the peaty quality I enjoy

Confess I have tried all of those. Also whiskey is Irish and whisky is Scottish. Lived in Wales for a while and even tried a Welsh whisky (Penderyn) - not too awful either :)

Please don’t forsake the honeyed Speyside pleasure which is The Balvenie.

Btw, owing to my leg condition, I had to be wheelchaired through the airport on returning from my biz trip.

    Eye opening.

You do get to jump the queue for no apparent reason. I saved 30 mins at passport control & invested them at the bar.

But you are operating at ‘@rse level’ as per the ‘Ighalo’ Paddy Power ad.

    An unattractive latitude.

At security you keep your shoes on - why? - & your pusher does all fiddling around with the scanning procedure.

Unfortunately, this fiddling entailed leaving my laptop on the conveyor belt.

Fortunately, we’d just hired someone locally so their first task will be to retrieve said laptop from the airport police.

All told, more of a rollercoaster week than Marco Ssssssilva’s.

Sorry to digress from the intriguing whisk(e)y chat.

All Scotch is whisky and never whiskey. Whisky is not all Scotch. Whiskey is Irish, American and elsewhere in the world but not always.

It's obviously a matter of taste. Whisky and Brandy are the only spirits that I can stand. Rum, Tequila, Vodka - ugh. And as for Gin - how anyone can drink that stuff - even the smell makes me retch.

I used to work with United Distillers in Perth who owned Matthew Gloag (Johnny Walker) and some small distillers throughout Scotland, and I was offered some of their "finest" wherever I went.

    Can't stand the stuff.

As The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy said "It is a curious fact, and one to which no-one knows quite how much importance to attach, that something like 85 percent of all known worlds in the Galaxy,be they primitive or highly advanced, have invented a drink called jynnan tonyx,or gee-N'N-T'N-ix,or jinond-o-nicks,or any one of a thousand variations of this phonetic theme"

Tonic is fine, just don't add anything to it - especially whisky.

Sciatica is awful. If you can find a gym with PRECOR Stretch equipment you may find that helpful. It did more for me than all the meds.

Had sciatica about three years ago and it lasted about four months - I could not believe the pain it caused. Physiotherapy eventually helped

Not really sure what caused it but it started with lower back stiffness and pain. Had sports massage and iced it regularly. Now the back is not too bad but it feels like a strained right hamstring. My leg muscles and lower back are tight so I should do some regular stretching. I am looking for an osteopath to see if anything can be done.

Maybe our players stand around too much due to delays in the matches which causes all these issues.

Well that was Pardew's excuse for 2 of his getting muscle injuries!
