Fair play to the 5 home fans still left in the ground on 72 minutes for making a decent enough effort of it though.

There were plenty of fans around me clapping but there were a couple of old boys in front talking to themselves when a few weeks ago they were clapping. It is slowly fading out but it would be nice if this was our 'thing' which carried on for future generations so they all know who GT was.

If only there was something else in the ground to help them remember?!

Perhaps we should put something up outside the ground too. Anyone got any ideas?

The bunch of Vicarage Roadies that sit a few rows in front of me were very enthusiastic in clapping for the whole 72nd minute. I feel a bit silly doing it now and have stopped, (as have most around me), but totally respect others who feel the need to. I'm sure it'll fade over the next few home games to just a dribble of people then be over before the end of the season. If I buy his book then I'll feel cleansed.

I think the coming anniversary of the great man's death would be an appropriate point to bring this to a close. Anyone who was around when he was our manager will never forget him.

The nearest home game we have to the anniversary is Southampton.

I think it would be a fitting way to commemorate the day and to bring an end to the clapping if we were to have a minutes silence during the game. I dont think thats ever been done before and it would be very poignant. You could warn the away fans in advance and as the Saints are one of the better lot i bet they'd go along with it.
Only problem would be if someone scored during the minute!

Not sure it would work really (well we might be sitting in silence anyway) - will the GT statue be ready by then?

Diamond - you must seat near me in the SEJ!

On Saturday when the final whistle blew there was nobody left between myself and the roadies which must be 6 or 7 rows worth.

Thing is the players had left a good 15 minutes before the crowd.

Lincoln City are currently riding very high in League Two and they way things are panning out should be in contention for promotion. Something which GT I am sure would have been very proud about. As he remarked in Graham Taylor: In His Own Words.

The city of Lincoln as a way of marking his contribution to it have named a road on a new housing development after him.

Didn't we play Middlesbrough at home very soon after he passed? I remember wanting to win it so much for him, but we didn't lose at least and the emotion could be felt not just inside a packed Vic, but all around Watford. There was a woman in Cassiobury Park handing out single stem roses to any fan's going to the match, which was sweet.

Great man, great memories and some of our best football pre Pozzo. RIP.
