Our players have not the stomach for a fight. If we get within touching distance of the zone we're ****ed.

This is how it starts. Playing well then get a few dodgy calls from officials in a row of games, then confidence goes, and it all goes pear shaped.

We are in a slump now. 6 defeats from the last 9. Games coming up against teams we have to pick up points from and that builds pressure in itself.

We need to be strong and together in this moment, or else we really will be in a relegation fight.

What hurts the most, is that people thought this was a "special" team. Turns out they are no better than previous teams, with all the same weaknesses as before. I was hoping this season we'd not even once be looking at the wrong end of the table, but now it would be irresponsible to not be concerned.

We need to be strong and together?

Is that what you mean when you go on to say that they are "no better than previous teams, with the same weaknesses as before", "in a slump", etc. Jeez! What are your negative posts like?

This team is far better than the teams we have had previously, absolutely no doubt.

And so the negativity starts from HB1. He airbrushes out how much he gushed about this team. Now it is “people” thought this was a special team.

This is going to be a long few months......

I've heard you can narrow the moment a Watford season turns for the worse down to the second the forum turns on HB1.

This is revealing itself to be a myth. Where is the proof of this. We've only picked up 7 points from the last 9 games. That's probably in the bottom 3 or 4 in the form table for the past 9 games. We picked up 6 points from late, late goals, so a stricter bit of timekeeping could have prevented that.

I've yet to see Watford play well at home........so I agree this team has potential, but I think you and a lot of others have been guilty of getting carried away. It's not just bad luck all the time.

We do miss Chalobah a lot, but we cannot rely on just one player. From this point we could easily get dragged into a really bad run if we are not careful. All the warning signs are there.

It didn't start with me. I'm not the OP am I? I'm just an easy target because I'm outspoken with my views. But they are relevant and honest. It's not my fault it upsets you or you cannot handle it.

You are a typical poster on here. You are so fixed in your view that you cannot recognise a change when it happens. Had we won 5-0 tonight of course I'd be purring about the team, but we didn't. We screwed it up again. I'm reflecting the reality of the current situation and I'm not scared to call it how it is.

Did you go to these games? We were poor for an hour against Arsenal. Ozil missed a sitter for 2-0. Deeney came on and beat them up a little, and it turned the game. We ended it strongly but we didn't play well. Don't confuse a good result with a good performance. The Liverpool game was a good match to watch, but it was the first game of the season. Everyone is at it, so it's tough to judge a team so early and West Ham carved out 4 gilt edged chances which usually would have gone in, although that's probably our best home performance.

Oh I’m with you tonight. This game and the Everton one were spineless. But let’s not pretend you weren’t as enthusiastic about this team as everyone else was.

I did.....as I'm a ST holder. Do you consider we played well in those games you listed?

  17. J.B

Yep. Brighton we did as well as could be expected with 10 men for the majority of the game and obviously we got tonked by Man City but weirdly enough I think we actually played well in that game. Probably a bit of a stretch to include those two, but I can't see how you could say we didn't play well in the other four games listed.

I'm not pretending anything of the sort. Like I said, I call it how it is in that moment in time. Just because I thought the team has played well in a few away games, doesn't mean I cannot say I think it's all changed now.

Home form has for the most part been disappointing. The early away from up to Chelsea has been pretty outstanding. We looked formidable at Newcastle also. So I think it's fair to say now that our early season promise is fading fast and we're looking more and more like the team that ended the season last year.

It’s 4 of the big 6 and the Brighton game we were a man short. All things considered we’ve performed okay at home (stoke and Man City apart).

  20. Knight GT

    Knight GT Predictor extraordinaire 2013/14

Yes I did. We were excellent second half against Arsenal and thoroughly deserved to win. The first half I felt we were trying to make sure we stayed in the game so played a different way. The fact Liverpool was the first game is completely irrelevant. West Ham did have chances but so did we and just because they did doesn’t mean we didn’t play well. We’ve played 5 of the top 6 sides at home so we probably have some easier ones to come starting Saturday

Ok......I'm talking in general terms with the home form. Overall, compared to what we've done in the early games away from home, we've been disappointing at home. Stoke was dreadful and Brighton we got lucky. Britos doing his crazy thing, is still part of the performance. They hit the post twice and we got away with a point.

For City, I do totally accept the result did not match the actual game. We got done by a poor official (again), that gave City too many advantages. Three of their goals should not have stood and we should have had a clear penalty (not given again).

I do accept the calibre of team we've played has been tough in the most part, but strangely these are the teams we've done well against because they do not sit back. Teams the sit deep can beat us, and we've already thrown away two home games we should have comfortably won in Stoke and Brighton.

I believe Huddersfield will be just as hard for us as Stoke and Brighton have proved to be.

We'll walk it against Huddersfield with Capoue and Watson in midfield.

I don't mean win, they will literally just walk around the midfield the whole game whilst Incey the Poundland Willy Zaha and that bald Aussie carve us up like a Lidl Christmas turkey.

Well me and Marco constantly say the same things, so could well be!!

But seriously after a couple of days, once the anger from tonight subsided, we do need to pull together. Not talking about a forum, because it doesn’t really mean anything. I’m talking about the players and the fans on match day.

When you’re in a rut you have to go back to basics and grind it out. As much as I hate to say it, this is exactly what Palace are doing now. They had no points and no goals after 7 games. Since then they’ve picked up 14 from 9. We’ve taken 7 from the last 9.

We tried to grind it out against Palace and Chelsea. Trouble is, our defence is just so ****, that we are unable to do so without capitualting

When you manage to lose to a team who played as badly as Palace did it is a worry but we will pick up points hopefully on a consistent basis to stay up easily.

    Here we go.

Literally three weeks after the Newcastle team ago you were gushing about this team both individually and collectively. ‘Seriously what a transformation’, ‘potential to be the best Watford side ever’. Now the apocalypse is nigh.

Absolute repeat of last seasons nonsense is about to start. You know there’s nothing clever in saying that we’ve transformed vs Mazzari when we’re winning and then saying we’re exactly the same team when we lose a few?

What might be a smarter observation is that we still don’t have the depth in all positions required to rely on the same players winning us every match (particularly a 20 year old Brazilian), or to cope with multiple injuries or suspensions. Silva clearly missed out on the second striker/centre half he was after in the summer and it’s hurting when existing players are off form/knackered suspended.

Shall we sack the manager again?

In fact, rather than bouncing around with a new view week to week, make a call now on how the season will end, where we will finish and whether you’ll consider that a success. I will call that we’ll strengthen in January, Chalobah will return and we’ll have a better second half than previous years and finish 8th or 9th - which will be a fantastic achievement.

My point was, you said "We should all be strong together in this moment", then you spend the rest of your post criticising the team. And you have been almost totally negative since that post too - as well as telling me that I am being too positive.

So when you say "We should all be strong together in this moment", do you mean we should all join you and be negative and critical of the team?

I can see where this will end. HB1 has already alluded that we’ve been poor at home and the last minute winners might not have happened due to lax time keeping by the officials. How long before we get the “Mazzarri league table” where HB1 informs us of the points total we should really have? Deja vu hysteria incoming for the festive season unless Marco and the team pull their fingers out!

Every team has a dodgy patch, we've got good enough players to pick up more points this month and then the reinforcements Silva wants will be here in January.

What I am saying is the mentality of the team needs to be a hell of a lot stronger in times of adversity. We, as fans, have to be supportive on match day, as I can see we could well struggle on Saturday and it could be a turning point, or a testing tune if we fail to win against Huddersfield.

The forum is a good place to put down honest views and vent frustrations. It carries no more weight than that.
