Actually I think we're a team who are about where our injuries have put us.

Add Hughes, Chalobah, Kaboul, Britos, Femenia to the mix and we're a better side.

The big issue for me this season is the continuing saga of injuries which must be addressed as a priority. We've millions of pounds worth of talent regularly unavailable and Silva is rarely able to field an unchanged side as we accumulate new casualties one game after another.

There's clearly a deep lying issue here as we saw last season. The numbers and frequency of injuries together with the recovery schedules do not allow for the possibility of coincidence or bad luck.

Something in our medical set up is failing and it's having a wider effect on the overall success of the club. Gino must be worried about it and so must Silva because the statistics are alarming.

Sadly, however, Deeney and Gray remain bullet proof.

I know not right thread but really worried about Zaha on Tuesday. Watching MOTD he is still a handful and always likely to get a penalty. Think we will miss Kiko as will be lacking pace on right with Janmaat

We should have tried harder in the summer to get Steve Mounie at Huddersfield. Very impressed as they look a different more potent side when he plays.

And this is why we will probably finish mid table/top 10, rather than in a Europa League spot.

Still been a bloody good season so far though.

I'm actually not reading into the Burnley result at all. We never get anything there. Concerned about our strikers though, and think that the only way to get the best out of Deeney and Gray is to play them together. Still, that isn't going to happen, so we need to sign another striker in Jan who is capable and intelligent enough to play upfront in his own.

You really must be from another planet mate. Yet again we see this totally biased and blinkered drivel (plus plenty of the same from others on the Shoutbox). Bias that outdoes anything a ref. might do by whole orders of magnitude.

It was a reckless challenge. A potential leg-breaker. Think Seamus Coleman.

Always blaming others for adversity you've brought upon yourself is usually the province of recalcitrant five year-olds or at best spotty adolescents. Do you need a new tube of Clearasil or your nappy changing?

It didn't matter anyway but in real time the linesman did well to spot that Barnes was offside just before he finally got the ball but no-one else seemed to noticed even after endless replays which maybe shows VAR might not always be the answer?

Having seen the highlights I can't blame Probert for the sending off at all. My missus and myself both said 'ooofff' when we saw it in real time, which is a fair indicator I guess.
I think what made it worse was the passage of play just before with hard tackles flying in - the crowning glory being a two-footed lunge. Slow motion made it look horrible, so I'm not expecting us to challenge it. Although I said the same about the Richarlison 'dive', so what do I know.
I would also have given the goal that was chalked off, so all in all I think we were lucky to come away with just the 1-0 defeat.

How can he be offside when the ball comes to him off one of our own players?

I can't find a clip that shows anything other than the final ball bouncing off our defender, unfortunately.
So the linesman's flag was raised way before the final ball?

Thanks fot that. That is the one opposite Aroma that I mentioned. Think I will give it a try tonight, and also, I would expect it to be quieter on a Sunday evening.

Last year we finished 17th. This season so far we're a top 10 club. So progress is being made. And this is the PL. With the rare exception of occasions such as Leicester's huge climb from near relegation to actually win the title, generally improvement for clubs comes gradually. So I feel we are on the right track.

I also think a19tgg hit the nail on the head too. Despite our improvement, there remains a slight feeling of under-achievement too. We've had some bad results, namely Stoke, Everton, possibly even Chelsea considering the position we were in. So we are far from the finished article. Last summer's recruitment was inconsistent again. Some excellent additions, especially in midfield. But we look lightweight in attack and pourous in defence. So there's still room for improvement.

Regards yesterday, a disappointing result, but let's not forget it was against a side above us in the table, with 8 wins to their name, and one of the tightest defences in the league. I've read people saying 'oh we never get anything at Burnley' but actually last season was our first loss up there for a while. Our first few meetings with Dyche all ended as draws, home and away. And maybe our point against Spurs the week before will now be seen as a more credible result, bearing in mind how they demolished Stoke yesterday.

Re the non-penalty, I wonder how, even subsconciously maybe, the fuss about the one Richarlison won us against Arsenal is now affecting referees make decisions when he's involved.

So on to Tuesday. You wonder how yesterday's penalty farce will affect Benteke. Will he be more fired up than ever to make amends, or will it hit his confidence?

I believe Troy has become a parody of his former self.
Since the first half of the first PL season he has been worked out.
His desire to build his,I cannot quite believe I'm typing the word,'brand' has overtaken his work. When he cannot bully the opposition defence, which is very infrequently,he is largely impotent.
It will take an exceptional turnaround to rediscover his former self, given his age and,for this level, limited skill set.

Red card was very harsh - I'm not sure Zeegelaar even touches him - had the player not leapt a metre in to the air screaming then I doubt the decision would have been made. The stupid thing from Zeegelaar was unnecessarily finishing the challenge with his feet in the air, which also made it look much worse than it actually was.

As for Deeney - well well well. There were a bunch of people on here early on in the season getting fed up with me constantly pointing out how useless and passed it he is; I hope that they're now eating their words, but I'd wager than Deeney has probably already gobbled them up...

If that tackle was made against us we would all be shouting for the player to be sent off. It’s a two footed challenge which is a sending off. If I hadn’t seen the game and just read the reaction on here I would have thought we took an absolute battering, everybody was terrible and we look doomed. I’ve even seen a quote saying Huddersfield is massive if we lose at Palace!
Gray needs to play. He may not end up being the answer but we are a lot better with him in the side just because of his movement.
As for the game, Burnley away was always going to tough as they are very well organised team who don’t concede many and the sending off played in to their hands. It’s not great to watch but it’s effective. I wonder if Dyche would actually any good if he went to a club with money.
Not sure why the doom and gloom about Palace away. I’m very confident we will win especially if Zaha gets banned. I’ve not seen the dive so not sure how bad it is

We'll probably never know. I suspect that he might be a one-trick pony that wouldn't suit a team that demands slick, attacking football, but that might well be doing a disservice to the guy based purely on his appearance, voice and record with clubs that have been limited in their technical ability and need to play in a certain way to make up for that.

Sakho will be missing for Palace, which could benefit us.

Can't see Zaha getting 'charged' with diving. Don't think it will be referred to the panel.

The first one looks like he is already falling and has lost the ball, by the time he reaches Begovic.
Everton fans going dotty bonks, especially as Roy was very vocal over the Niasse incident.

    A few quick thoughts:
    - Our sending off: about right although some refs might have yellow-carded it.
    - The Richarlison 'penalty' imo wasn't. The defender got the ball marginally before the man, hard tackle, no more. I did mutter 'oh get up' to him as he laid there writhing.
    - Richarlison needs to stop obviously over-reacting when challenged. Not quite in the Forestieri mould for diving but definitely there for feigning injury.
    - It's sad to watch Deeney's demise.
    - Pleased with Janmaat overall yesterday.
    - Just knew it would be 1-0 to them!
    - The snow was pretty with the terraced houses and hills in the background.
    - Put it down to a bad day at the office. Focus on beating Pal-arse and the cheating git Zaha (who won't be banned, there was contact on both pens although he blatantly dived for both as well).

I agree that maybe Richie's reputation does now proceed him. But not because of the pen. against the Arsenil.

Richie goes down in a heep at least four times per match. All over the pitch. I'd put the ratio of dive:foul at around 6:4 and that's about the way the decisions go too. So entirely fair then. I'd suggest he's getting a 'reputation' in the same way as Zaha, Alli and Wilson. Justifiably so. And if you cry wolf then you'll suffer the consequences. Somebody should have a quiet word.

Agree with Kelso on Richarlison. The rolling around at every opportunity is a little tiresome.

The same Zaha that won two penalties yesterday? His reputation seems to work for him. I think you need your nappy changed mate.

  30. Pavements well dodgy on way back to Manchester Road Station. Sort it out Burnley Council.

Special shout out to the Swindon lads who came to the game as their game with Accy called off. They bought tickets in the Watford end - didn't know you could buy on the day in the PL!

No player has been fouled more this season than Richarlison in the PL. Ali and Zaha are high up the list too. I'm not sure he's getting a reputation so much as fouled lots.

I agree he likes a good dramatic roll around though and I wouldn't miss that if he stopped doing it.

He gets fouled a lot but his dramatics are surely not doing him any favours. If refs see him take a tumble with a look of agony on his face, they're more likely to wave "play on" if they feel Rich is prone to the odd exaggeration.

In fact, the IBB brand is one of my favourite ones in this forum supermarket of ours.

Fair play to those who went, looked bloody cold, could hear the fans through out too.

Not sure what to make of yesterday's performance, Burnley did what they did best but over all I thought we played quite well - we actually missed Hughes in my opinion as he has that ability to break through opposition defences. Had we had 11 men I think we could've at least got a draw out of it. As soon as the tackle was made by Zeeglar I immediately thought red card, silly and unnecessary challenge to make really.

Now onto the attack, my god Gray and Deeney are just absolutely ******* useless (How anyone can say otherwise I just don't understand), sell them both and get someone better in January. For now, bring in Okaka before it's too late.

Btw, Richarlison needs to stop diving around on the floor, if it was an opposition player our fans would be livid.
