    There was a player from Pinner and we used to sing;
    'Julie Moys,Julie Moys
    Lace up boots and corduroys'.
Not quite Forster or Housman but it whiled away the time between matches!
I don't think I'll bother with the Spurs sites. There are plenty of them at the tennis club to amuse me this week!

Absolutely spot on, and we are only 2 wins and 2 draws from 30 points how nice would it be to exit the Christmas break with 30 points (hopefully)

This being posted on Tottenham forum as evidence of poor refereeing. What I take from it is the absolutely ridiculous contortions on Kane's dopey face. Either Prodl is twisting his nips or he has gone in dry and it's taken Harry by surprise.

I'll take a point , yep could of been three and definite pen but can't move forward if focus on the what ifs

A lot of critics were saying before a ball was even kicked Watford would be in the deep end but it's a very good season so far

Even the massive loss to city showed spirit, against utd never gave up, Chelsea same

Playing mostly exciting football there's no reason come January shouldn't be on 30+ points

Despite their hysterical whinging about injustice, Spuds sensibly decide not to appeal Sanchez's 3 match ban for the sending off.

If you go into a challenge with you arms raised unnecessarily you risk your elbow connecting with another player's face. It wasn't intentional and it wasn't half as bad as Carroll on Zeegelaar a couple of weeks ago but there's nothing in the replays that would give a whole panel enough evidence to overturn the red card.

Whenever we have played a so-called "big" team, most reports tend to focus on how the opposition have played well / badly with only cursory mention made about how we played.

I read the report of the game in "The Game" section of The Times today. It is astonishing how little mention is made of us (or, indeed, the match). It is all about how the wheels have fallen off at Spurs.

    A disgraceful piece of journalism.

Not disgraceful, as more people will be interested in that than in how Watford played, but disappointing certainly

Spurs have got 10 times more fans than us (probably many more than that). Therefore, many more spurs fans than watford fans are reading those articles. They dont want to be reading about watford. If that happens, they'll go elsewhere for their football report.

Why would anyone outside our tiny fanbase give a single, solitary, shiney **** about us? Were you hungry to read more about bournemouth after we'd beaten them? Were you desperate to deepen you knowledge of stoke after they beat us? Because I couldnt give a ******* **** about those teams, or any other team but watford.

It's no conspiracy, it's just businesses giving what the majority want to ensure they stay in business.

If you support a tiny team, the mainstream media isnt the place to go for your reports.

EDIT damn, beaten by Unhappy Bunny by 1 minute ffs.....

Not the prettiest but I thought it was a decent game. A few tackles flying in which the ref tried to let go, a bit of niggle and lots of huff and puff. It was a game which we would have lost through being out bullied in the past.

Yes we should have had at least 1 pen and in all honesty on another day Marvin or Kabasele would have picked up a 2nd yellow.

10 men for half an hour or not, happy with a point

Just goes to show we moan about refs and how they treat us compared to bigger clubs, bigger clubs moan about how the ref treats them compared to smaller clubs - everybody hates refs

I wonder what difference a video ref would make , bet there would still be lots of mistakes

No, there'd be fewer. Refs' two big problems are trying to keep up with play and having to make split-second judgements without any kind of replay and within the context of everybody trying to trick them. Premiership players are not just very skilfull players but also highly skilled cheats.

  19. Ybotcoombes

    Ybotcoombes Justworkedouthowtochange

Absoloutly true - most prem players seem happy to cheat to some degree or another from claiming a throw in to diving in the area - guess no place for sportsmanship in the modern game

Is it my imagininatiom or is the next World Cup due to have video refs ?

  20. Forzainglese

I certainly hope so; World Cup refs have quite a variable range of quality.
I don't think cheating is new, actually: Players have always kicked one another - and plain, old-fashioned fouls are still a form of cheating. Of course, very few players would be able to keep their jobs in the modern game because all the others are cheating and getting away with it. It is the refereeing that is the key to this, not the players. I will say that a lot of the cruder excesses, whereby players were seriously injured have been reduced (although not eliminated: Witness Andy Carroll's antics at Vic Rd recently: He was cunning as well as brutal, with a lot of his stuff going on blind-side of the ref or behind his back.) (Mind you the linesmen could have been more helpful).

    But WFC not even mentioned!

    Not a word.

On the Radio 4 sports update last Tuesday the chappie announced:

‘And tonight Manchester United are playing...’

    How would he describe us?

    The sedate ‘Watford’?

    The upbeat ‘Mighty Horns’?

    The itk ‘Silva’s Yellow Army’?

But he didn’t say anything more.

    That was it.

    ‘Tonight Manchester United are playing’.

All that’s wrong with football today etc etc.

Does a review of Opera praise the air that carries the sound waves from the singer?

Do food critics praise the ovens and saucepans?

    No

And that is all we are to most pundits, and some top club fans - background, a stage to their symphony

How many of you are getting comments from fans of other teams? “ [Little] Watford are doing WELL, aren’t they [you must be pleased]”

But this year it’s different. When we equal them we can say things like:

To Liverpool “fans”: did you go to the game, your defence is league one standard, you’ll be relegated if you don’t [panic] buy in January

To Arsenal: “ yeah we have always been your bogey team”

Not that it needed proving any further - but another shot of the "handball", from the camera behind the goal used in the montage recently uploaded to the clubs YouTube channel:

Unless the tape has been run backwards looks hand to ball equals a penalty. Don't buy the one about Atkinson not having a clear view. I could clearly see it from the other end of the ground. Reckon some referees are terrified of making decisions against big clubs, in case they get ripped apart by the media. The sending off was the easier decision as it was right in front of the fourth official.
