Is Marco Silva all that?

  2. The level of ignorance, from people whose only ******* job is to know a tiny little bit about 20 football clubs, is quite staggering. In any other field, you'd be shown the door PDQ.

Interesting that the Everton fan on here was annoyed at Chelsea because players and former players spoke about it in the press. So far i've seen Kevin Kilbane, Andy Grey, Richard Keys and Leon Osman say Silva will be at Everton shortly or that he should go. Now 3 of those are former players...

The other one who may become 'unexpectedly available' soon is Merkel (Angela rather than Alexander).

Her open borders policy reminiscent of Pozzo season 1.

A friendly hand proffered to young men from the very margins of the continent.

I didn't mention former players. You can't control what former players say, as they're not employed by the club.

In that example Mourinho, Gary Cahill and John Terry all sat in separate press conferences talking about John Stones and how he should join Chelsea.

If you can find an example of someone currently employed by Everton saying publicly that Silva should join us, it would be comparable. If it's Leon Koeman or Andy Gray or someone like that, they'd obviously potentially be biased in Everton's favour, but you can't realistically hold Everton responsible for what they say. There are times we would love to control what some of our former players say, but we can't

Disagree - I think this will end with us extending his contract by another year but increasing his salary. Not sure how keen on Everton he is apart from salary - guess his agent will tell him not to commit and use the uncertainty to his advantage. I would

  15. The very act of telling Everton to do one and putting Marco back in his box* would be the singular most telling evidence that Watford have arrived in the PL and are to be taken seriously, more than beating any top 6 team or making top 10 in the league.

    * - provided it pans out that way of course. I really hope it does. Don't care if MS is humbled - will make him more determined to succeed if he's got anything about him.

I used to quite like Everton before all of this mess. Always thought that Kenwright was one of the better chairmen in football. Knowledgeable, humble, and a true supporter of his team at heart. Having visited Goodison in 2006 I found the Everton supporters to be a fairly decent bunch as are many of the ones who have commented on this thread. Much better than the red half as well. However after selling their soul to Moshiri they are really no better than the likes of Chelsea, Man City etc where they are the playthings of billionaire businessmen with over inflated egos, and a misguided sense of invincibility. They have made their fortunes doing what they damn well want, and they think it can carry over into the world of football. Makes you thankful for owners that have been in the game for as long as ours have.

Sean Dyche doesn't want to go - nor does Big Sam which is why they aren't getting the job..

Plus the Everton fans really didn't want either of them !

The day that hirsute shameless deadbeat gets a scoop on our club is the day we should all pack it in for good.

Who on earth is going to take seriously the opinion of someone who's got a haircut like a lego soldiers helmet?

    The archaic arse hole.

I agree to an extent but it's a tactic that Barca use. They get a load of ex players still connected to the club to start talking them up. Osman and Kilbane will undoubtedly still have contacts at the club.

The common denominator surrounding all the 'hot air' pundits is that none of them have actually owned and run a football club. Or indeed managed one or coached the first team. Neither for that matter have any of us. It's all ex-players, journos (one (Kilbane) with a qualification in it - but no managerial experience) and us fans. And collectively we know f.ck all.

Mr Gino Pozzo does however own and run a football club. Ours. And his vast experience as a business man (and especially a football business man) makes us very lucky indeed.

Mr Moshiri needs to know when he's beaten. When he's out of his depth. And when to back off. Gino Pozzo isn't for turning when his mind's made up. And he doesn't have a price at which he can be 'bought'.

    Ergo, Marco Silva's going nowhere.

Is Silva still 100% committed to your cause? Will he be watching to see who gets the Everton job? at £6 million a year over 3 years?

Could be Dyche still although I'd hope he wouldn't accept after being so far down the wanted list.

Sundays result and performance suggestes he is. If he does a a good job with us he’ll end up with a longer fatter contract at a bigger and better club. He’s a young manager with at least another 20 years employement ahead of him and he is only tied to us for just over another year and a half. I don’t think he will be worried either way. If he ends up going we’ll be about £20m better off and our owners will have another manager lined up anyway.

When you inevitably lose your manager you will sink without trace. See also Bournemouth.

All of that, except final paragraph. We’re busy telling people that there is a new world order and a well run club with modest gates and TV money can thrive, so in spite of the added benefits of the ‘Pozzo model’, we’re surely not unique in that.

  31. He's a professional
Most followers of football keep an eye on what happens around the game
He will earn far more in 1 or 2 years time when he leaves to join a proper big club, not a once was a big club
Everton fans would hate Dyche, his football is defensive and tepid

He will go and we will get £10m. We will appoint a new manager. If he does really well he will be off at the end of the season. If he's awful we will replace him. If he is middling he will stay into next season. And so it will continue while we are in this league.

I think with Burnley Dyche has filled the team with top levels championship players and got them playing very well. They either win 1-0 or draw 0-0. They have 12 goals from 12 games, yet they’re 7th. He’s got some average workman like players playing to their capacity and doing a great job at it. Take him out of the equation and who would they get in as manager? They’ve got some very uninspiring players who won’t be capable of playing any other way and won’t be attractive to many managers. Pulis would be a great fit, and we know how that will end. They might go for Hughes when he inevitably gets the sack, in the despairing hope he will get them playing better football and we all know how that will end too.

And if WBA get in a manager who likes to play good attractive football meaning a bit of a clear out, I reckon that dirty clogger James Maclean would be a perfect fit for Burnley

Have we done so yet? The Pozzos seem to think coaches are ten a penny, just above the level of manager of the Club shop. They don’t seem to want to pay compensation for one.
