Is Marco Silva all that?

Much of today's discussion has centred around naked ambition, honour and integrity and their place (or not) in current Premier League football. I have taken a somewhat old-fashioned view.

But I can tell you all something with certainty for nothing. When you look back from a 64 y.o. perspective, about the choices and deeds you made and did, and when your heart ruled your head and you made a decision and acted upon it with integrity and honour, you will remember those times in your life with far more fondness than when you made the opposite choice and went for a pot of gold roughshod instead.

I consider Villa to be a bigger club than Everton, despite their current status, because they are clearly the biggest in the whole of the Midlands whereas Everton are only second biggest on Merseyside. (Until Tranmere rise again!)

Everton fans hoping Silva will 'agitate' for a move. It doesn't seem to occur that they need to create something of their own rather than buy little bits of what worked for someone else. And then find it doesn't work.

Evening lads, a Blue who comes in peace ;)

I've obviously been Twitter refreshing and scouting the net for the last few weeks since Koemans departure and had a few panic attacks seeing Allerdyce apparently nailed on by some rags

I just wanted to touch base and see how much weight you think is behind this rumour/interest... Any so called ITK murmurs? Or should I say what do you think the chances of it happening?

I said on my frequent forum when Koeman was potted I'd like Silva or Tuchel both for varying reasons but I do think you have a gem on your hands in Silva. Looking from the outside in and at his past history he seems very good at getting a side organised and playing to its strengths which is something we desperately need atm

He seems very Poch esq in that he has that thing about him we're he will go onto big things further down the line?

I'm not a big fan of trying to pry managers part way into a season but it's sadly become a part of the monopolised modern game

Well done on the good start to the season whilst playing some good stuff

His teams can't defend for toffee and can't hold onto a lead. The football can be exciting but be prepared to take some absolute hidings. He's very similar to Martinez, though I prefer silva.

If your chairman is ambitious as he says, he's the wrong man I'd say. He's perfect for us, as our expectations are much lower.

You can have him at Everton, he’s been with us a while now and run out of ideas. But hands off Andy Scott. He’s the future.

Well that’s a lot of posts for today

I don’t think he will go, what’s £8.5 mil in the grand scheme of a prem football team.

Didn’t want silva to go (probably still don’t), but am going to be a bit annoyed if he doesn’t come out soon and announce that he wants to stay and finish the job he started. Last thing we need is a sulking manager.

He must realise that if he leaves after 11weks and it doesn’t go well at Everton he will be managing league 1 next season. If he did however leave and go to Everton would laugh my arse of if he was then approached by Man U

The Martinez comparison doesn't fill me with much joy (if he came to us)

Thats the nature of the beast Ybot when there are much bigger clubs than us both, I'd have fully expected Koeman to jump ship if all was going rosey and he hadn't ballsed it up so badly

It's a massive risk for him tbh we are a very disjointed side atm, we brought in far to many square peg round hole players in the summer and it'll take a brave man and a touch of magic to make it work

Everton has a dirty fanbase which consists of the Liverpool fans who were given banning orders from Anfield in the '80s

Anyone who supports Everton who isn't from Merseyside is either a plastic or a plastic in my eyes

I personally think Silva will stay. And I thought he had previously indicated he was happy at watford.

I don't think we should turn this thread into a diatribe against an everton fan (which does not mean I like Andy gray or wouldn't want them relegated).

As for the Everton fan post its nice about posting in peace and not agreeing about poaching mid season, and I think he was genuine in this. But there's something a bit irksome about asking us if he's any good or this is likely to happen. It seems a bit like rubbing it in at a time when we as fans may be a bit worried or vulnerable. I despise Everton for tapping up, it's not the first time, and regardless of whether Marco stays this has a destabilising influence on our club.

The manager to go for is Chris Wilder at Sheffield United, should Silva leave. If Watford get him, Burnley will bitterly regret it not being Dyche who's gone to Goodison.

The way Everton are dealing with this is disgraceful, they are leaking information to the press to try and unsettle Silva. The newest tidbit is that they will double his wage. Fair enough if they are but they aren't in the position to even talk to him.
