Is Marco Silva all that?

Yes - and probably there are agents in the mix, somewhere, doing what makes them so beloved by everybody, stirring up s**t and waiting to see if any of it comes their way.

Everton won’t go away just because we have turned down one approach and then another offering compensation. Especially if what is being said is true and that Silva wants to talk to them. That’s encouragement enough for them to make further approaches with higher levels of compo. They’ve finally shown their hand that Silva is the man they want and something on Sky Sports from a ‘spokesman’ won’t change that.

The only way this ends with Silva still at Watford is something official on the website that is attributed to Duxberry, telling Moshiri and Co to look elsewhere. Otherwise Everton will keep coming, with every offer turning Silva’s head more and more and strengthening any interest he has. The longer that continues, the more Everton get the upper hand and can offer less compo for Silva knowing where his heart now lies in that case.

Nip it in the bud now or lose him I think.

Absolutely right. Everton's owners are feeding their fans sh1t sandwiches and they know it

And here is the crux. Silva’s possible interest in talking to Everton is hardly a demand to talk to Everton. The riches they are likely to offer would turn any managers head and unless you get them relegated it’s almost a no lose in reality (certainly not financially!). The key thing surely though is that this may have been, if Watford are prepared to let him talk and are happy with whatever compensation package is put forward then he will enter discussions himself.

If that doesn’t happen he will continue to work for Watford. Seems like everyone is assuming he’s putting pressure on Watford and possibly throwing his toys out of the pram Diaigo Costa style to force a move. Could be the case but isn’t really coming across like that.

He is unlikely to be vocal because we’ve all seen how stupid it can make you look.

One thing though. If he stays and we sack him before the end of the season it’d be interesting to see who we could get to come in.

It is absolute nonsense to bring morality in to this. Apparently the average Premier League manager's career lasts for less than two and a half years and out of the 210 bosses sacked since 1992, only 85 got a second job. Accusing someone who works in such an environment of lacking morals for wanting to maximise their earnings while they can is, frankly, immoral. If Marco chooses to go, good luck to the greedy little ba5tard

A spokesman for Watford told Sky Sports News: "We will not countenance an approach for our manager, either from Everton or indeed any other club, be it in the Premier League or abroad."

I thought we had a head coach? Beginning to think sky sports source isn't as genuine as first thought.

I dont have a problem with him wanting to talk to Everton , why wouldnt he ?

I respect his stance that he wants to honor his contract. If he leaves next summer because hes outgrown us then good luck to him, we would have sacked him if the scenario was reversed.

Now lets get on with getting back to winning ways on Saturday with a fit again Pereyra and Prodl.

I think he’s a good manager, who’s got us playing some outstanding attacking football when things go right. He’s shown flexibility in situations and adapted things as needed. The set-piece woes are well documented, and it’s hard to understand why we’re not improving in that area at all.

Overall, I think he’s made a big impact on our club and our squad. The nagging problem is that a big part of the improvement is down to an increased sense of togetherness amongst our squad. We look like a team of people who are all going in the same direction. Silva is the captain of this ship and if there is any indication he wants to leave, he loses all credibility in front of the squad and quickly it becomes a sinking ship.

If his heart isn’t in it, it’s not worth keeping him for the next 6-7 months with the understanding he’s looking to move on.

Hopefully he can come out and say that he’s not interested in leaving, he’s committed to the project here, and we can continue to build on the excellent start he’s made.

Press conference should be interesting this week, assuming he’s still here of course. A few “no comments” thrown around along with, “I have a job to do”.

I know, but there's always that tiny shed of hope that he walked into the club, realised how ace we are and developed a deep and meaningful love for our club. Clearly that wasnt the case.

Whereas my sources tell me mazzarri still wears a yellow thong

I think we already have the understanding he’s looking to move on. We knew that when we hired him. His ‘end-game’ isn’t a long successful tenure at Watford, it’s a relatively short successful one and on to a club of larger stature. The thing we are going to have to become accustomed to if he continues taking us on an upward curve, is that others will want him. He needs to rectify in his mind what jobs he would leave us for rather than fluttering his eyelashes at every club that comes calling. If Everton is one of the clubs he’d leave us for, then get some large compo and let him go and take it as a lesson learnt. This situation was always going happen, the club knew that - it’s just sad that it’s only taken 11 games and by rights, you’d hope Silva has the professional desire to see at least part of the job through.

That's a sore subject for me that one, I've not witnessed a player hit so many misplaced passes or lose the ball as often as I have Rooney since his return. A few point to the goals he's got but he destroys our build up play and stunts so many of our attacks, he's also been played far more than he should have.

Why isn’t Saint Eddie of Bournemouth talked about for Everton? They’re another small, in many ways smaller club, ripe for the ‘big club’ bully-boys to target.

Is it because he has this rare thing called loyalty and people know how committed he is? Does he lack ambition and that’s why no one is asking to talk to Eddie Howe? He’s certainly highly rated and his brand of football has been praised (or maybe Everton don’t feel the need to destabilise Bournemouth because of their poor start?)

I’m just asking the question because if Everton want a young yet proven PL manager then there’s more than just Dyche and Silva out there, yet Howe is not exactly the bookies’ favourite, way down the list after Allardyce etc.

Even a committed Graham Taylor moved to a club similar in size to Everton when the time was right.

Could be because Howe is awful when it comes to the transfer window.

Howe was tempted out of his comfort zone once before and went scuttling back. He won't make the same mistake again

That’s debatable but I don’t follow their transfers that closely.

I’ve decided that Silva wears AMBITION as if it were tattooed on his forehead. Or, to put it another way, his skirt is very short and he likes turning heads.

I do indeed. And Arthur certainly did much of his creative thinking in one of, nay both of his sheds. He did of course get somewhat bothered in his later years with, when being interviewed, the tedium of constantly being asked about his excess shed capacity. And even flirted with the potential moniker of 'Arthur No Sheds Jackson'.

Cue a contribution from I Blame Bassett methinks.

He was tempted north to a decaying mill town. Not to an obviously bigger club.

    Eh?

    I’m easily confused that’s true.

Do you mean Eddie is as good as married therefore it’s bad form to make an approach, while Marco is only a few matches in so fair game?

All of the above, or the fact that St Eddie isn't all that good after all, and is being slowly found out.
