This is all just a smokescreen so nobody buys our players or steals our manager. Richarlison was actually trying to miss again yesterday. Sent from my G8141 using Tapatalk
I don't get this. As you are very critical of all our centre backs, yet believe that the signing of one replacement would solve our problems. Why? What about the others? Then to write off Karnezis's topflight experience over 10 years or so, entirely, after just a few minutes in one game is incredibly harsh. ...IMO.
Ever heard of “forgive and forget”? Everyone knows that he wasn’t happy at first when he joined us, it’s only you and Clive and one or two others who strangely won’t let go. That’s like saying people had short memories for giving Tommy Smith another chance after he was thought he was too big for us. People can have a change of heart y’know, perhaps you should follow their example.
I agree with it's tough to have everything in a team, but we're not even competent. Are teams working hard enough to score against us? I don't think so. It's quite easy for them. Once you have a reputation it gives the opposition hope, no matter the score. Just like Fergie at half time. "Come on lads......it's Tottenham". If we go 2-0 up in future, we need to extinguish all hope. Look at Burnley. They are hardly the dream team, but they are bloody hard to score against. Right now they have this illusion about them. If they take the lead you will lose to them. That's what we need to be like. Just be ruthless and kill off teams. No one can tell me we cannot sign defensive players that Burnley sign. We have a wonderful opportunity of doing something very special this season. How long will we have the likes of Richarlison, Doucoure and Chalobah to call on. These are special players that will grow and attract the big boys. We need to cash in and take this opportunity when it happens. It's rare to get it right as an offensive side in the Premier league, when you're one of the smaller sides. The easy bit to get right should be the defence.
I think I read that he has been subbed 5 times playing for Watford - that seems ludicrously high but he is made of glass too. We have a whole collection of them Gomes, Peraya, janmaat, kaboul etc
For me HG is an absoloutly Watford Star and worthy or the title legend. He went in very bravely got clattered and clearly didn’t want to go off , he has been hurt in the past but only because he genuine doesn’t seem to know any fear and will go for anything. I really don’t think you would have got him off the pitch if he hadn’t been hurt
Gomes has gone off injured a few times but I would hardly say he is made of glass, considering he has been our number 1 now for 4 seasons and played the majority of the games. The pereyra situation is a bit different and i can see why he is not being rushed back but I hate to think of him in the same scenario as a new pair of shoes that you are too scared to wear and get dirty and one day they don't fit
A poor defeat against a poor side. Stop the stupid zonal marking. Two Everton players could have scored from the corner. Karnezis was totally at fault for the first goal. A headless chicken running outside the box when there wasn't any real danger. He looked lost in goal. Let us hope he does not play again. The penalty for was awful. Then again, who else would have taken it. Just a dreadful attempt . Has our bubble burst? Let's hope not. Gotta go, the snow is here
But it's got more so in the last couple of season', as the most successful teams are built for quick counter-attacks rather than dominating possession. I'm inclined to think that the relative weakness of their central defenders is one of Citeh's strengths. You can't defend against then, so try to go for their weak spot. You go forward, lose possession and 10 seconds later they've scored
Will Hughes looked a very capable replacement. If there are doubts about Pereyra's fitness he must play. Looked soooo much more effective than Capoue as a #10.
Kind of makes you wonder how he found it so incredibly difficult to even get a place in the matchday squad until about 2 weeks ago... I suppose you'd say he has acclimatised to Marco's demands...
So... Does that mean Okaka starts against West Ham with Gray with Deeney a sub? I look at Rich and see his pace but I could see Rich setting up Okaka for some goals if he gets a few games under his belt.
No point in playing West Ham, they will have the new manager bounce and smash us. It will be their only win under Moyes in 2017 but it will be against us.
On a more cheery note Richarlison has been talking to the Brazilian press again praising Gomes (who had to go off!) and saying how he wants to make history with Watford scoring alot of goals. Also Sky Sports say we are 4th in the EPL for distance covered and have three players in top 10 for sprints - Cleverley is the highest, with Doucoure and Richarlison 7th and 8th. Let's relax a little knowing we are in a good place. If we continue to play like we did at Chelski and Everton, collectively plug some of the leaks at the back I am sure we can get back to winning ways.
I think the last few matches have highlighted that once again we’ve had another inconsistent transfer window during the summer, and this is so frustrating. Richarlison and Chalobah look superb captures. Feminia looks tidy with good attacking ability, while Hughes undoubtedly has promise. All pluses there. Carrillo hasn’t impressed much so far and I wonder if he will go down as another player strongly recommended by the incumbent Head Coach rather than the main recruiting department who will go down as a failure similar to those brought in by QSF and Maz. Whatever the merits of some of his play, Gray was brought in at huge cost to score goals and hasn’t to date. Harsh to judge Karnezis on just one showing (had we performed better in the League Cup he’d have been able to make his debut for us much sooner than Sunday) but this is a harsh world and you have to expect such an experienced keeper to be able to come on as a sub and cope better. And regarding the two barely seen defensive recruits, I think Silva’s comments on this say it all. So it’s so looking like another very mixed summer that’s left us yet again with a lopsided squad quality wise. Strikers not scoring, weak in defence (especially squad wise) but with a very decent midfield. Once (if) our recruitment team finally manage to nail it in every position, I really think we will see the best of Silva and start moving forward excitedly.
Everton quite complimentary about us on their forum. They seemed to think Gray was decent. Sample posts: "Will Hughes was excellent I thought, surprised that was his 1st start in the premier league as well this season" "I thought Will Hughes and Gray looked good, would have been better signings than the ones we did make." "Thought the right back was great,I’d never seen him before. Keeper going off was a big turning point." "they are a very well organised team, he's a cool mofo as well, wouldn't be surprised if he is on the moshiri shortlist" "They were excellent I didn’t want Grey here as quite frankly he’s a disgusting homophobe, but he was excellent yesterday"
