Think this will be a tough game, especially with our back line. If Clement is sensible, he will start Bony and not Abraham. Bony against Mapps and Kabasele is a joke, he will win everything in the air. Seriously hoping we start Wague for his height (6' 2"/6' 3"), plus he is pretty quick. If Mapps and Kabasele are our 2 starting CB's, we could be in for a long afternoon. Also hope Femenia starts over Janmaat and Karnezis over Gomes. Personally I would like to see Karnezis Femenia, Kabasele, Wague, Holebas Chalobah, Doucoure Carrillo, Cleverley, Richarlison Gray Bench: Gomes, Janmaat, Mapps, Capoue, Pereyra, Success, Deeney My guess however is Silva will go with Gomes, Janmaat and Mapps instead of Karnezis, Femenia and Wague. I'm not as confident as some on here. This is the type of game we should be winning but it will be typical Watford if we don't. These are the types of games that make me anxious before Saturday, then I'm breathing a sigh of relief at FT. If we score first I can see us going on to win 3-1 Concede first and I think that will get their confidence up and we will struggle. So cliche, but this is the type of game that the first goal matters. Heart says 3-1 win Watford Head says 2-1 win Watford Gut feeling says 2-2
Silva has already said Wague won't start. And Abraham is much taller than Bony? Despite their faults Mariappa has a great leap and Kabasele is strong in the air as well.
He may be making a point after Wague was dumped on him when we failed to get our main targets Inc the Austrian guy who went to Leicester ?
Which defender will be subbed first due to injury? What minute will it be? Will Janmaat last another 90?
y u no hav okaka? Roughly working it out, in his last 1000 minutes of Premier League Football he's scored 5, compared to Gray who has scored 1, maybe 2 (and think one was a penalty).
Surely he wouldn't be so petty as to weaken the team to make a point though? I think it's more likely that wague is just completely ****.
Plain black Gola from about 67/68. My favourite pair of boots ever. First pair were 'no name' boots similar to these, hand-me-downs from a cousin about 1962, which I think also came from Woolworths originally.
Janmaat (random eye injury or broken toe) 22nd On that basis, no. Gomes thigh injury celebrating goal in the 62nd, 6 minute stoppage while Karnezis warms up and chooses his sandwich for the coach home from the clipboard.
Blimey SW did you work down the pit in those or play football, or both? I am definitely not young but whoppers like those are before my time.
those were considered light-weight compared to the ones that my PE Teacher wore. He had a pair that came up to his calf !
I think my first pair were Gola but I wanted Stylo Matchmakers. Really not sure regarding sock wear for tomorrow. I may have to wear a knotted hanky on my head,a la Mr Gumby! It may be an improved look!
And NHS specs, a stick-on Hitler tash, short-sleeved jumper, rolled-up trousers and wellies. Kinky ...
Normally it would be Prodl then in order Britos Kabs/Kaboul just very unlucky with Prodl and Britos both being unavailable at the same time! Along with Kaboul adds insult to injury!
Defence is a concern but I am sure we will be fine Kabasele has been very good recently, Janmaat is more than good enough to do a job and I would say that you could make an argument for both Fermenia and Janmaat being our best right back. The only real concern for me is Mariappa but he should be okay against one of the weaker sides I just never ever want to see him playing full back again in a Watford jersey. If our midfield can take control of the game then we should limit them attacking anyway, which is what has happened in our previous 2 away fixtures.
from what I remember femenia looked really good why wouldn’t he be starting, especially with all the defensive problems we have Have we played Hughes yet ? Worth at least seeing what Wague can do
I am guessing because he missed the last game with an injury and depends on how he has trained recovered etc...I am not sure if Hughes really fits in right now Cleverley has been fantastic, Pereyra is back from an injury, Chalobah and Doucoure have been incredible and is Hughes better than Capoue? I think Hughes has been a victim to our midfield being so strong this season.
Yep we do have a very strong midfield. I would try Hughes over Capoue though , let’s be honest Capoue has been a lot better this season and scored some crucial goals, but if he wasn’t such a lazy **** he would be in the starting 11 not on the bench
Mapps starting at CB is the only thing that makes me think we might not get all 3 points Hopefully he has a good game
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football...-the-premier-league-season-and/valon-behrami/ 17. Etienne Capoue.
Must have been pretty lonely back then, IBB; if a gurl had invaded our footy space, we'd have told her to buzz off back to the doll's house, sharpish. Unless she was wearing navy blue knickers, of course.
Yeah fair point, and he is clearly class when he wants to be. If he ran that last season imagine what he should be running this season
Draw at first thought but then again I can see us giving one team a real thumping at some point. Having WBA away after is scary but win at the swans and maybe nab a point at the Hawthorns.... I'll go for a tight game and we nick it by the odd goal.
Prodl is the only half decent CB we have. And he's half decent. Our central defence has never been good since we been back in the top flight (apart from a brief spell when Prodl and Cathcart looked class) and we haven't bought well enough in this area.
Actually really looking forward to this one. Will be interesting to see how both teams approach it. I think a lot depends on if swansea sit back or see us as a team to take 3 points? Their forum are equally unsure what Clement will do to be honest We are, for the first time in a few years, consistently ok. Take out man city and we look and feel like a really competent outfit. I still fear we lack a little creativity at the moment while the team are so fresh. I'd hope they come at us so we can get in behind them. Sit back and it could be another boro away from last season relying on our now standard worldie to win it. They seem to have had 7 shots on goal in their first 5, onky 5 on target I think so we shouldn't be overly concerned at our defence, as long as we keep it solid and go for it ourselves. Silva must see this as a very winable game rather than nicking a point and if we can pin thrm back then we will escape with at least a draw, which I think I'd take now to get the points back on track. Win, lose or draw, more than anything else I'd like to see progression in the attacking third and in our all round passing and interchange. More creativity. A solid and consistent team performance. Probably say 1-1 but can seee us pinching a cheeky 2 or 3-1 away win.
Doucoure, Chalobah and Cleverley aren't going to let themselves be bossed for another game. They'll run the show like they did against Southampton and the forwards will do the rest. 0-3 Richarlison x2 & Gray getting off the mark.
I was the only girl in the St Albans and district schools league,I scored against Spencer school and their Headmaster said I might damage myself playing against boys! I was not allowed to play the remaining two games of our heroic title winning campaign. I've often wondered how he thought I would injure myself:trip over a pig tail? Fall over my skipping rope? The man was a half wit! Might omit the wellies and tank top but the Hitler moustache may be worth consideration,at least on court in the morning! Have we ever scored at the Liberty Stadium? ps LB,not sure I was reading Ibsen aged 11!
