I don't quite get this. Having our goal difference and confidence hammered doesn't help get above our true rivals in the division. We played naively and it wasn't clear to what purpose once we went behind. To keep the score down? To give players a run out? To try something new?

Looked like a Mazzari side, so poor was the concentration and application.

Ahhh i did say let's not get carried away after the last game...point proven. We were completely outclassed, our best players were made to look completely average. They are one of the best sides I've ever seen at the Vic so no big deal, we go again against worse opposition. COYH

Should have stuck with this plan and just not played Gray up front!
Oh well! Chin up lads and onto Swansea next week, who do like to park the bus going by the way they played at Wembley tonight

Gotta wonder how they didn't lose by 4 or 5 to a team so much better than them.

He actually did ok considering we gave him very little service. Bit rich to criticise a player when you gave up on the team after 35 minutes

    My thoughts:

Firstly the ref was a ****ing **** and I hope he shoves a **** up his ******** with a pair of ****** with a parakeet in his **** for good measure.

    Bad points:

Chalobah I thought struggled a bit, uncharacteristically. My missus thought he was awful...

Gray... He will come good eventually but when deeney came on, fighting and trying to win aerial duels it was evident that Gray lacks something at the moment.

Mariappa, love him but Wague worth a start over him after Bristol.

    Good points:

Tricky Ricky Richarlison, Carillo is better than amrabat, holebas' ironic checking with the lino that the ball was in the right place...

Edit: apart from the ref I'm not too upset about this one. We were outclassed but I continue to have high hopes for the season

He didn't. And on the few occasions we broke with pace, it all came apart as soon as he got involved.

    Out of his depth.

What do you think he should have done differently with the personnel available? I can't see that he could've done much else bearing in mind how well we'd played the previous game and the injuries we had.

Agree. Possibly Deeney, Wague and pereyra to start, but I still don't see any major difference in outcome.

Interesting that there has been no press conference from Gino or Dux assuring us that Silvas job is not in jeopardy.

    The silence speaks volumes .

Well I think he did and we're not creating a bundle of chances for him either. So based on 4 games, which i presume you've seen two of, you've written him off. The two away games he has played, he played well against Bournemouth and ok at Southampton. The two games he's played in at home, we were down to ten men for 70% in one and against a team that had 70% of the play in the other, not exactly ideal.

    Agree with all that.

We were outgunned and outclassed, as well as a c**t ref.

Where was kiko? We could have done with his speed today, and I thought he'd recovered from his odd head injury.

As has already been stated, we were never going to win that game but the officials really did do everything possible to hand them the victory on a plate.

Two handball decisions went against us leading to the FK for the first goal that was offside.

I'm not annoyed at Janmaat for being outpaced by G.Jesus but I am annoyed that he was outmuscled by that little squirt. Should have slid in to win the ball or at least push him off it, he done neither.

Their third, again it was offside.

All three goals were easily avoidable and shouldn't have happened.

Going in 0-0 at HT should have been the score but it wasn't.

Chalobah was denied a blatant pen and you damn well know that if that was a City player at the Etihad going down, it would have been given.

Everything was about fine margins today and the officials bottled it in every way possible.

Not saying we would have won and in no way do I think we would have, but the score line would have been a lot closer if they done their damn job and called it fairly. The way the officials acted, I wouldn't be surprised if they joined the City team showers after the game and dropped the soap.

The great news is that Silva is ticked! I can see us coming out all guns blazing next weekend against Swansea and giving Marco the response he demands.

Onwards and upwards, this was a nothing game to us, the more important games to us are next week and the following week against West Brom.

The good news is that most of the teams in Prem 2 dropped points this weekend.

Watching highlights and yeah City were good but should've been 3 maybe 4 not 6.

Janmaat getting shoved by a 20 year old. Not good enough.

Holebas responsible for at least 3 goals, liability.

Aguero should never have walked through.

Richarlison and Capoue both should have scored.

    Jesus offside

    Chalobah penalty

I think everything that could've gone wrong went wrong, the ultimate optimist could probably a case for it being a 3-2 defeat rather than 6-0.

Thanks for pointing out Holebas' performance, you reminded me of something. His stupid booking on De Bruyne in the first half. He absolutely went for him deliberately just like Britos on Knockhaert. You could see the red mist descend and you knew he was going to take De Bruyne out.

Then straight after that tackle he out muscles Walker and floors him, which was great but then he feels the need to start mouthing off. He just has such a temper.

I was surprised he didn't get himself sent off today.

I like Holebas, but both he and Britos are a liability when they get frustrated.

I think we could have played that game again and would always end up losing because of the gulf between the sides. But these games normally tend to finish 0-3 or 1-3, something like that. Anthony Taylor ensured it was 0-6, because of his bias towards the bigger side. He did the exact same thing when we played Spurs a couple of years ago.

Most referees are good in the Premier league but there are still a couple of rogue ones. I do not blame the defeat to the referee, but the size of the score line is purely down to him.

You're right I don't actually know how decent average Championship sides are, but I do know this guy is poo plops, and only his grotesque transfer fee is keeping him in the side.

No person who is sane of mind can possibly think he offers more than our goal scoring Italian, can they???

    Dear, dear.

Today we lost heavily to a team of some of the best footballers in the world assembled by the cassock-wearers for the best part of a billion quid. That's all. Nothing else of significance happened.

It wasn't the fault of the officials (who are all UNBIASED and professional despite what the vast majority of pig-ignorant football fans have to say about them and simply made a couple of close calls in favour of the attacking team today (which again is their job) as far as I could see on M.o.t.D. just now).

Neither was it the fault of our new record signing centre-forward or Silva's choices or the lack of quality CBs (currently having four out injured or suspended).

It was simply a 'bad day at the office'. Pick yourselves up, dust yourselves down and move on to South Wales.

If anybody thinks different then I invite you to take your support (and I use the term loosely) and f.ck off through the Tring gap to Bedfordshire with it or alternatively keep it permanently based in Malaga.

Gray still being picked is nothing to do with the transfer fee we paid for him. He's starting games because he is the only striker in the squad capable of playing as a lone striker in the system that Silva plays. If there was another or if Deeney or Okaka were decent in that role he would have probably been dropped by now.

I thought everyone realised this, but obviously not.
