When you are done giving English lessons on a football forum... Everyone is entitled to their opinions. And everyone is entitled to argue their case on those opinions. But you are being selective in your arguments. If Deeney helped get managers sacked, so did over half the current squad with their performances. I trust our owners more than enough to know that they wouldn't sack a manger wrongly just because of a desire to keep one player happy. And you say Okaka has given his all the last few times he has been on the pitch. Liverpool yes, and he was okay at Villa. But in Austria and at AFC Wimbledon he was atrocious. I'm not arguing the case for one over the other in the long run. I'd rather Deeney but can see he is regressing slowly and needs to redress that quickly. He has to buy into Silva and the fact he might not play every week.
Our only striker to not only score, but actually play like a no. 9 this season. Selling him would be a mistake
I totally agree but that was not Gray's fault but down to Britos. Our game plan went out the window due to that daft blighter. Gray had to feed off scraps and had very few opportunities to run in behind.
There's no way Okaka could run around like Gray did today! He will never be fit enough for Silvas quick closing down of the defenders that he wants! Good option from the bench but that's Deeneys spot now! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Gray was struggling to make an impact before the sending off. He barely had a touch. Okaka might have put us ahead by then.
Maybe and he might have done but we will never know but I'm pleased we got a point out of it. I would be sad to Okaka leave but it certainly looks likely.
Think Gray is crucial for away games, Okaka and Deeney still have a big role to play at home against lesser opposition
I think the big concern about Okaka is his fitness. He seems to burn out in games and Silva has hinted that he can't play back to back games without getting injured. he has quality and can do a job but Silva may not fancy him long term compared to an alternative we can bring in.
Gray was working his ass off but getting very little service and support. Hard to judge him on todays 10 man team. I think he needs a goal to get him going and carrying that £18 mill price tag may well be putting pressure on him. Certainly way too early to write him off.
Okaka is probably the best all round striker we have, speed and strength, but he can't go at Silvas pace for 90 mins. I like him but if his sale brings players in for the positions we need then so be it
I agree - I know it is too early to judge but he was very poor yesterday. Yes he ran hard but so do headless chickens. The ball across from Amrabat you would have expected at least a connection.
Couldnt agree more with this. I know deeney has been injured but he looked slow when he came on yesterday and seems to have bulked up again
[QUOTE="Bore, post: 2565658, The ball across from Amrabat you would have expected at least a connection.[/QUOTE] In fairness he was put off by Richarlison who also going for the same ball. They got in each others way. He had a poor game yesterday but by the same token the service to him was awful. He isnt going to win balls in the air against bigger stronger defenders
When I see Deeney mentioned, I assume and look for @lowerrous to slag him off. I then assume and look for you to reply "We get it. You don't like him." I am never disappointed.
Yes we should give him time. The sending off didn't help I suppose. But I still expect more from a record signing. Hopefully he will grow on me. A couple of weeks training with the squad will no doubt help him.
Has anyone ever actually realised than Deeney is naturally broad? Didn't hear anyone calling him fat or bulky when he was scoring. And last season aside, he is the same size now as he has always been. Are you expecting him to be 11 stone or something? He was big when we signed him and has always been - he bulked up at the start of last season and I think knows that was an error. But he's the same natural size now that he's always been. Is he suffering a fall from his earlier graces? Yes, sure. But it's not because he's still 'overweight' or 'bulked' because he isn't.
Praying this guy doesn't get sold. It is unthinkable that we go into the season with just lard arse deeney and that wretched useless **** gray. How demolarising it must be for okaka to see the manager favour those two hapless terds over him. I don't blame him one bit if he wants to leave
