For discussion of EPL games not involving Watford.

It was interesting to see the prem new boys play today, Huddersfield had a quality win over Crystal Palace and made the Eagles look really poor. Steve "We should sign Mounié'' Mounié managed a tidy brace and the Terriers' defence completely neutralized Zaha and Benteke.

Brighton, on the other hand, are gash. They defended really well and almost went a full 70 minutes without conceding to Man City's potent attack but offered absolutely nothing going forward. They're in for a long season playing like that. They make Middlesbrough look like Juventus.

'uddersfield looked alright. If they continue in this vein they'll survive easily. Would quite like to see them stay up...not to mention it was enjoyable seeing Palace get smashed.

EDIT: just saw Wagner's post match comments. Classy bloke, could be a breath of fresh air.

How the **** did we miss out on that guy Mounie, as apparently we were after him? It would not have been so bad if it had been to a bigger PL team, but to Hudderfield!

Lets hope the guys we did get in do the business, otherwise we might rue the day we lost out on him, judging by his opening day performance!

First impressions of today based on what I saw on MOTD, I think that we will be fine this season, I understand that some squads will be finding their feet but I felt that Swansea, Stoke, Palace, Brighton and Bournemouth were particularly poor today. Although Bournemouth were beaten by a very tough to break down WBA side, next week will be interesting hopefully Pereyra will be fit for next week as I felt that he was the glue of our team today and the difference was noticeable when he went off.

I remember Blackpool beat Wigan away 4-0 on the Opening day when they came up - maybe Huddersfield will be like them expect without a moaning manager.

Palace probably need time to adapt to a totally different style of play.

Suspect Brighton will be more adventurous when they play lesser sides and our mate Knockaert is fit.

Conte might be quite pleased Chelsea lost and had 2 sent off - will make sure he gets more money to spend!

Newcastle are crap. Hilarious how they can be awful and go down, come back up and start the season with a squad no better than they went down with, yet pundits will widely predict them to have a great season and shoot straight into the top half just because they're Newcastle.

They're going to be right down there.

Lots of criticism of hughton being cautious when at Norwich, nothing to suggest when in charge of Brighton things will be any different

Have we already seen the most daftest sending off this season!!

Shelvey really let his side down there.

Unbelievably petty from Shelvey. No need for it at all and there's no way he didn't know what he was doing.

A lot of table predictions I've seen this season have Newcastle staying up because 'they're a big club so they should be able to' as if that has anything to do with it. An astonishing amount of people actually have that mentality of bigger clubs deserve better results by virtue of their size.

Shelvey is just stupid, how did he think he was going to get away with it ?

WBA did what WBA do, defended defended and scored a set piece. They will do it all season and end up mid table as they do every season.
Stoke, Swansea both looked slow and boring, Palace have real issues at the back. Newcastle have Rafa, which as we know from replacing Walter makes a big difference.

United looked fantastic and City not to bad. Chelsea was a bit of a freak result after the sending off. it will be interesting to see how the Conte situation pans out and they will desperately miss Costa.

United looked impressive again and well done Huddlesfield.

Most other "big" clubs looked pretty ordinary.

Spurs' Wembley hoodoo continues .... which is rather handy as it's their home venue for the next 20 months :D

Rooney scores his 200th PL goal, Walker sent off for city although I reckon they will still win ... a draw and we stay 4th

Harsh on Walker or just a silly sly elbow just after being booked?

Ofcourse the Everton guy made the most of it as any player would.

finished 1-1 so we stay 4th on goals scored.

Spurs have 3k tickets for away fans. In a 90k seating stadium thats ********.

The rule is 10% up to a max of 3k. So If your stadium is 30k you must provide 3k seats, same as 90k. If its 21.5k like us, it's 2,150.

Both those red cards in the Everton - Manchester City game were quite harsh imo. Walker's was barely a foul and it looked like Aguero dived on the card to Schneiderlin. Really trigger happy referee that.

Swansea just spent 15 million quid on Sam Clucas. Unbelievable.

What do people make of Chris Wood to Burnley? Looks a decent bit of business to me. Sure they'll make that back

Is he not a carbon copy of Vokes?
I just have horrid flashbacks of that first goal v Leicester when Almunia's clearance hit him and went in.

He did twist his blood but I think he was an emergency full back on that day,he's normally in midfield.
I'm still shocked at the fee though.

Hard to know. He was a class above in The Champ last season but even good Champ strikers often struggle to make the step up. It'll be interesting to see.

    Liverpool showing Arsenal no mercy!

Just shows how well we did to stay in the game and get a point.

    Spurs held - at Wembley.

Looks like clubs will agree to close the transfer window earlier before the season starts.

All very well so long as they are prepared to lose players to overseas clubs/have players linked to them without being able to replace them.
