Favourite TV Series

Just finished 13 reasons why. Not sure how I feel about it. As a programme, it was very good and constantly gripping. But i'm not sure it's appropriate for the demographic it's intended for. I found some of it a hard watch and i'm 23! Can't imagine how some 15 year olds would feel.

 

Agree. It was gripping (until the second to last episode), but some very difficult to watch moments.

I guess they had a problem, in that they didn't want to belittle such serious issues, but that it was meant to be an entertaining show for youngsters. Unsettling, but a good watch.

 

"The Handmaid's Tale" was quite a compelling watch. Funny - as an I tried the book a while ago and couldn't get on with it.

"The President Show" is very much a "one trick pony" but it places it's a very funny/profound "one trick pony".

 

This series prompted a letter from my son's school about the upset some scenes were causing pupils.

We've tended not to censor much for our teen, it seems better to watch with him and explain. But we'd already decided to dodge that one as I was concerned it was both too fanciful and potentially too attractive an account of the issue.

 

Just started watching Line of Duty. Only a few episodes in but pretty good so far.

Once I've finished Homeland, Better Call Saul and House of Cards I'll have a look at Line of Duty. Also I started watching White Gold, the whole series is on BBC iPlayer, first two episodes were quite good.

 

Finished walking dead now right up to the end of series 7. Is Negan the best bad guy ever? Love it.

Very good series- we shouldn't be hiding away from the fact that what Hannah Baker went through is a common occurrence these days.

 

I too watched through 13 Reasons Why, I agree that it probably isn't suitable for the demographic that it was intended for but as Diamond suggests it's probably worth watching with your teenager. It got particularly hard viewing once the series reached the tape that start from the Jessica's party.

There was bullying at secondary school but I never saw too much other than the occasional fight and a bit of verbal, I received a bit in my first year at secondary but generally let it slide and wasn't really an issue from the second year despite the fact there were more than the fair share of arseholes in my form compared to the other forms in the year group. However for us older ones on here (I'm 41), one thing we didn't have was mobile phones and social media in our day so by in large what went on in school stayed in school, but I shudder to think what some people suffer when not only they are bullied at school but can't escape it because of the internet.

 

I've just started watching this with my 15 YO daughter. I say "with her" as that was the advice (watch with them, you know like in the olden days, and discuss everything about it) from an exceptionally informative discussion on Woman's Hour t'other week.

 

New series of House of Cards is good.

Haven't quite finished it yet, but it's flying by.

 

I'd watched the first 3 of the latest series but out of curiosity I started watching 13 Reasons Why and watched it through over the last 10 days or so, I will be returning to House of Cards tonight.

 

I've just started watching Vikings in the past few days. Very enjoyable.

 

House of Cards was quite good.

Saw a few eps of the new OITNB and it was really boring.

 

Second Chance on SyFy is rapidly becoming a favourite. It's got Casper Rose from Dream Team in it. It's an interesting SciFi type twist.

 

Last night's show where "The President" is holding auditions to pick a defence lawyer:

was one of the funniest things (and most biting bits of satire) I've ever seen.

 

Just seen the first episode of the second series of "Preacher". When it originally came out, and as a big fanboi of the comics, I sat watching it thinking "...you're no Jesse, you're no Cassidy and you're no Tulip..." BUT I can't believe how the actors re-interpreted the characters into something mesmerising (especially Ruth Nega) and although the show very loosely follows the original storyline it absolutely captures the sheer bat$hit nature of it all. Highly, highly recommended.

I was worried that this was going to canned after the first season as it really, really got into its stride (like "Constantine").

 

Watched first two seasons of prison break. So terrible it's ok, but each series is sooooo long.

It's like 24 but not quite as good.

Also watched season 1 of Daredevil, which was very good, given the subject matter.

Watched first series of Last Kingdom and having read the books, it wasn't how I imagined it but good nonetheless.

Back into Walking Dead. I missed what tv happened to the two blonde kids (Samuels Girls) as I'd skipped half an episode by mistake. Omg. What a horrible storyline. Just into first few episodes of season 5 now.

Just started suits. Easy watching.

 

Started watching the Black List but whenever Raymond Reddington came onto the screen all I had in my mind was - he's based his look on Frank Butcher:

 

Huzzah!!! The Strain's back (but it's the final series).

 

Usual start of season to GOT, who is that, who did they kill in the last season? Why did Sam go there to clean toilets? Did she know her sister is alive? What do dragons eat? How did he end up there again? Why's he alive still? Do you think we'll see any baps?

Is that Ed Sheeran?

 

I thought that as well, and as they had him singing I'm thinking it probably was.

I watched the first 2 shows from the current series of GoT last night and have to say I was very impressed with Mr Sheeran. When I saw him I instantly dropped out of TV mode back into reality but it didn't last more than a few seconds as they did it so well.
I watched a couple of things last week to get me back up to speed with proceedings so far and seem to have got my mojo back. Really enjoyed episodes 1 & 2.

 

5 episodes into Designated Survivor. Loving it so far!

 

Recently started watching this also. Looked pretty rubbish from the trailers, but it's got Kiefer Sutherland in so I thought I'd give it a go. Pleasantly surprised!

 

Handmaids Tale at the moment. It's been pretty relentlessly distressing and depressing but is superb television imo. I struggle to watch 2 in row though as it's intense.

I thought the BBC Fleabag think was original, funny and touching.

Going back Battle Star Galactica, Band of Brothers and Twin Peaks.

Oh and Paw Patrol.

 

New series of suits is on Netflix now for anyone who didn't already know.

 

Episode 3 is even better...

Great episode is all I'm going to say.
