Very much so! Getting itchy having to wait, but I trust our owners are working on it in the shadows at the same time.

Which ever striker comes in, I reckon the first we'll hear will be when negotiations are already in advanced stages. Then it'll be completed within 2 days

No to rumours, yes to actual signings.

    I'm sick of bloody rumours.

We very rarely sign the players we're actually linked to. I'd be shocked if we didn't announce a new striker this week.

We have 4 as it is, Deeney, Okaka, Success, Sinclair and we will play only one up front. Unless we sell it's more likely we would buy a winger/striker like Niang.

At the moment they don't seem irresistible options, but getting someone else is expensive and may depend on shifting someone (Okaka). Buy a striker now, when would they all play?

If we only have those 4 for the whole season I'll be very worried about staying up.

Success is still an unknown quantity as far as I'm concerned and at the moment he doesn't look like a striker to me despite his build - he looks more like a goal scoring winger ..... Sinclair is not ready, Okaka in my opinion is not good enough to start and I would sell him - that leaves Deeney, who is decent on his own but is far better with a partner. In fairness to Deeney it would help if he had support from the midfield, so if silva can crack that, then who knows. if however denney continues to be left isolated against 4 defenders, then we are going down .... we need another option upfront with strength and electric pace that allows us to switch tactics so teams defend deeper and thus giving us more time and space to play - and turning losing positions into draws and drawing positions into victories. part of the reason we look crap most of the time is because teams beat us by defending high up the pitch safe in the knowledge we can't get in behind them with pace. The pressure on the player with the ball is huge and the only out ball is over the top and plays straight into our opponents hands. Over to you Gino and Marco

Perhaps, but if the team plays well behind them at least two of them can score.

Spot on except that last season we rarely got that ball in behind. Hughes can definitely pass in behind or between the lines. With Pereyra, Zarate back and Success the options are certainly increased. Ghezzal would add dribbling at pace, good forward passes into space behind, long range shots, excellent corners and free kicks. All these factors would help our strikers, BUT reckon we still need at least one upgrade striker. Most EPL teams like Bournemouth and West Ham have already seriously upgraded their frontline. Even WBA have got Jay Rodriguez. We cannot rely entirely on unproven guys like Sinclair. Bit worrying no rumours but should be interesting when they come. COYHS

If we do get another striker it's time for one who is not a fatty.

Vincent Janssen or Wilfred Bony on a loan maybe?

Cedric Bakambu from Villarreal (maybe too expensive)

Would've loved to see us try and lure Carlos Bacca from AC Milan but he would probably want to be at a club competing in European competitions, looks like he's going to Lyon anyway.

    Maybe I'm being too optimistic...

It's a world cup year so no international striker will want to be on the bench.

Reckon we can bring in a decent loan if needed.

Every player we've signed we've been linked with. Can't think of one that we weren't!

Yeah but we are a premier league club, it's time we started thinking bigger. Stoke signed Shaqiri, Bournemouth signed Jermaine Defoe/Jack Wilshere, Crystal Palace signed Benteke and those teams all finished higher then us! You gotta spend money £££ I think people need to stop worrying so much about the cost of these transfers and start being a bit more optimistic!

Still living in hope for Simeone. £17m price tag is a snip for a player with a better goalscoring record than Gabbiadini.

I always just assumed we'd sign a load of wingers and stick one of them up front. Seems to be how we usually do it.

Simeone is my favourite as well. He just seems to instinctively know where the goal is and apparently wants to make it without trading on his Dad's name. Make it happen Gino.

I'd rather spend £20m on Dembele from Celtic. Marseille are in talks at that price according to SSN - and whilst they undoubtedly would pay more - it's definitely worth an enquiry at that price. Long shot but I feel we need to start setting our targets a little higher as mentioned above.

Remember he's playing in Scotland so equivalent to Div 1 std so you need to divide his goal ratio by 3 to get any sensible stats !

    Seems a little harsh.

Div 1 is a lot better than it used to be these days.

Liked what I've seen of the Lad. But when I reflect it's one season he's performed. Big risk for someone so young. A bit like Keita who Liverpool are after. Crazy money for possibly one season wonders.
Don't get me wrong Simeone looks class but should we really be pinning our hopes on a youngster like this.
But I would love us to get him and be proved wrong.

He's performed for more than 1 season. Top scorer in the South American youth championships in 2015, better than a goal a game ratio at international youth level etc, obviously impressed in Argentina enough to get his move to Italy etc
