So now the boring posh ping pong is out the way ( Federer did a cry over his banana and barley water - who cares) we get to the interesting bit, Jodie Whittacker as 13 ( should really be the Valeyard but diversity wimbly wombly timey wimey etc)

How long before a woman playing prof football with the men, and where? conference?

There are some pretty effeminate footballers even as far as the Prem, is it a mans game? Will it ever happen?
Whenever I watch woman's football looks like they are running through treacle but I'm guessing a fast girl in the wing to start?

It's hard to criticize this move by the BEEB without sounding like some kind of massive misogynist. Therefore I am going to resist the temptation.

I think it's time for a female time lord. Makes sense to me.

Without meaning to sound all geeky technically there already has as the Master became "Missy". Anyway agree it makes sense to me

I don't really get it. I mean, Dr Who is an alien so I guess the character can change gender if that's what time lords can do.

But the character was written as a male timelord from the beginning right? So it's a male character.

I think I could understand a female 007, because it's the agent number, but isn't this more along the lines of recasting Harry Potter as Harriet Potter? The character is male irrespective of regeneration. It was written as a male role. It remains male.

It doesn't suddenly change gender or form. It's not suddenly a Klingon or Romulan.

Just my thoughts on it. I may be wrong as I don't know the full Who folklore.

Why does it have to be a man?
Why does it have to be a woman?
Why does it have to be human?

Why can't it be Piers Morgan? He's none of the above.

I really enjoyed Dr Who with Eccleston & Tennant as the Dr's, I didn't really like Matt Smith so stopped watching after a couple episodes and knew straight away that I wasn't going to like Capaldi (although loved him in other shows). Already know i'll be giving this new Dr a miss as well, hopefully 14 will be better or Tennant returns.

Tennant was heavily tipped as 13.
Capaldi, I think you have underestimated, he was excellent - a true classic. Tennant gurned his way through it

    You are of course correct.
She's a good actress, better than the second Baker, smith and Tennant - it'll be hard for her

I didn't like Eccleston. His version was to volatile, temperamental and on the edge. And he spat when he ranted. Very unbecomming of the doctor.

    Time lady?
    Time lass?

Jody Whittacker was in Broadchurch which was created by the new Doctor Who producer, Chris Chinball.
