Horrible. Seen a few "witness videos" and it seems a bloody loud explosion.

Bomb disposal team have arrived on scene. One report states "20 dead and hundreds injured" - Really hope that isn't the case.

Poor parents, can't even begin to imagine what it must feel like sending your child to a concert for them not to return. Thoughts with them all.

Hard to believe that someone deliberately targets young girls in this way.

Not much else to say really other than my thoughts are with the victims and their families.

    So sad.

Yet more lives (potentially very young) taken in such a callous way.

Agree with this. What kind of sad useless ******* would want to do such a thing to young people enjoying a night out?. Utterly depressing and so sad.

Depraved sad individual targeting people on a night out in the name of whatever warped view of the world they had. I see they've confirmed it was a suicide bomber acting alone.

Terrible scenes and sadly won't be the last time this sort of thing happens. Can't imagine what is in the head of these people filled with so much hate.

In response to bombs being dropped by Western military forces which are randomly killing our children will be the age old line trotted out by those evil ****s

In reality somebody wanted a soft target with maximum exposure and got it

    Poor, poor parents...

No cause or belief can possibly justify such grotesque inhumanity. A terribly sad day for all right-thinking people and an unimaginable horror for those involved

I've barely slept - I think as I'm getting older and older this sort of thing upsets me more and more. There are young children who've barely experienced life and it's made me so upset to think about that as well as their poor parents who have to let their children have their freedom.

I think this country has a very serious problem, it's one of extremism and radicalisation. Trying not to alienate the 99% of Muslims who are good people while sorting out the problem that one nutter can injure so many is nigh on impossible.

Have to be honest, I'm growing tired of the usual political clichéd rhetoric around these horrific events.

Whereas, in my view, a lot of the recent attacks had a semblance of disorganisation (and dare I say it, luck) to them, this was a cold, calculated planned attack of a concert primarily for children and teenagers. Ariana Grande appeals to that audience. Sure, a lot of adults are fans of her too but she emerged from children's TV in the US and that is her primary fan demographic. This is a whole new level to the terrorism we have seen in the past. A planned assault on children and teenagers.

So, when the usual political figures come out and state 'the terrorists won't win', I'm afraid they are winning. Things have got to change. Even if it changes our way of life somewhat, there's simply no way that we can permit calculated attacks like this to take place.

I worry that with all the good natured hashtags and talk of 'strength', that the victims become a passing thought to the real situation. It should not happen again, no matter what it takes.

Well the threat level has been raised to 'critical' tonight. The highest level and something we've not got to for a number of years. It's usually intelligence led so there may yet be more to come. May has said they think there are outstanding suspects so potentially they think there are more bombs out there.

Apparently the PM also says this will result in troops being deployed with arms onto the streets under police command to patrol at high profile events. A worrying development in many ways I'd say.

I'm going to upset the PC brigade now, but I think this is the final straw and it is time we rounded up all of those who have returned to this country having been active with Isis and put them all in internment camps.

The emphasis should then be put on them to prove their loyalty to the UK. Hence they should all be considered guilty until they can prove their innocence, rather than the normal British legal standard of being innocent until proven guilty. If they can prove their loyalty and that they have truly rejected their original belief in Isis, they should then be allowed to reintegrate, but if they can't they should remain in detention for life if necessary.

Quite frankly I have never understood why they have not been prosecuted for treason or sanctioned in some way for supporting Isis, instead of just being allowed to reintegrate back into British society, with the possibly of creating a sleeping Isis army within our shores.

I am not a bigot, but enough is enough, we must take real action against the terrorists of this world, even if it takes draconian measures to do so.

You could be right, but we don't know how the perpetrator of this bomb became radicalised, it might have been someone who has recently returned from fighting with Isis that converted him? Therefore it is possible that had we locked up all the Isis returnees he might not have been radicalised.

I said in my original post that only those who had been overseas fighting for Isis should be "interned" but perhaps that should be expanded to all those who are suspected of having Isis, or any other terrorist sympathy's, who are known to the security services, then hopefully we will be able to reduce the terrorist threat even further.

Again I know that these measures are draconian, but what these lunatics do is far worse and must be stopped!

After a particularly emotive attack it might be controversial, but what you are suggesting will damage our society far beyond anything these pathetic individuals could hope to achieve.

You're advocating for the undermining of one of the most fundamental principles of our society, presumption of innocence, and handing the government the power to arrest people based on very little, even having devious sympathies (read thoughts).

The question of returning Jihadists is a tough one. Let's face it, the sort of person who goes all out to get to Syria or Iraq so they can tote an AK, rape some scared, captive women and murder people is unlikely to ever be a long term benefit to UK society in my view. At worst, they are latent psychopaths waiting to pounce. At best, deeply damaged and misguided individuals who need to be helped to readjust to a society where blood letting and dehumanization of victims is not accepted.

As Moose says, however, the damage is being done elsewhere. Face book is full of people using phrases like 'round them up,' and other summary solutions.

This plays right into the hands of the terrorists. Young Muslim men read this bile and realise their only friends are the radical clerics who want to place a gun in their hand. And so the cycle is perpetuated

Belonging or professing to belong to ISIS is punishable by up to 10 years of imprisonment under s11 Terrorism Act 2000.

The problem is surely identifying those who do? They don't march around in uniforms.

We don't have the manpower to keep the growing number of radicals under surveillance, so internment must surely be considered for anyone known to be even remotely sympathetic towards this vile form of islam.

It's not an easy problem to solve. If it was it would have been done already. Having our own version of Guantanamo isn't the answer. It's education. It's propaganda that radicalises and we need to catch the subject early in schools.

Much as I hate to say it, we also need to not judge people by our own standards and not interfere in events in other countries. It's seen as arrogant, gains an enemy one one side and little loyalty on the other.
