How do you know we'll have a better coach, better players and more exciting football next season? Did you imagine Gino could appoint somebody more negative than Florrie? I hope your confidence is well-founded, but nothing is a given
Those predictions you got right - they were your reasons that we were in danger of relegation. I think the majority of people were telling you we were safe as houses even if your doom mongering came to effect...... And you have the balls to come here with the I told you so's? Lol.
Some may say doom mongering......some may say it's actually what happened. Listen.....if we're s*** why do people have such difficulty in accepting that? This season we've been absolute gash, but some just do not like hearing the truth. When we're good I'll say it, when we're not I'll say that as well.
We didnt get relegated and were never close so it didnt happen. Despite you saying, again, that it did.
Maybe you're drunk tonight? Have you seen the table.....we finished 17th. You cannot get closer than that. Only two clubs had a worse goal difference than us. Just go with this scenario and humour me. Had Hull caught us on the final day and we ended up 18th.......would you still have said we were never in a relegation battle? It's possible to never have been in the bottom three all season, but to still get relegated.
The only way it gets worse is if Slutsky, Prandelli or Pioli are appointed, which hopefully doesn't happen. I'm leaning on the side of optimism and that Gino has learnt by his mistakes so will hire someone much more positive. Based on Dux five live comments, I think they have learnt so hopefully the football will be better as well.
Shut up mate. You have clue about football or anything else. I bet you've never even been to a game before, you armchair 50/50 flag waving ponce! Since it appears that some are arguing with themselves I thought I would join in.
Not long got home, and a few drinks have been taken, so apologies if I'm repeating comments that have gone before. - 2 gk's on bench? Surely the youth team had someone who could've sat on the bench, or Folivi/Sinclair/Hoban? - Defence was p**s poor, but given the starters (Holebas at cb?), couldn't expect much. - That said, Behrami will be missed if he goes as expected. Individually decent performance. - Okaka was much more mobile than I thought he could be. Thought he'd just be there to hold the ball up. - Niang didn't impress. If he's not cheap, let him go. Hopefully Pererya will be back anyway, or maybe play Success?! Ok we stayed up, but if the season was 2 or 3 games longer, I'd be very worried given the form. Hopefully the new coach, whoever he/ she is (Hope Powell anybody?), can stop the rot and turn things around. I expect, and think we need, big changes over the summer.
If you had predicted the scores when the fixtures came out, most would have expected a comfortable away win for Man City. The Watford squad should have managed more this season than last years IMHO. I am sure Gino and Duxbury are looking at the 46 points Bournemouth gathered that earned them £15 million more in prize money this season and know this campaign has been a failure. Let's hope in the debrief of the campaign, they can reflect on their contribution and how they could have managed the club better. Mind you other teams like WBA have had a poor run in the last ten once save. Walter looked like he did not want to be here from January. At one point I thought the players really were battling for him. But on reflection they wanted to get to 40 points. Once that was done they simply slipped away as a competitive group. More than Deeney, I hope Gomes stays. He has the leadership qualities, dignity and desire that will be important next year to get the 12 wins from 38 that will be required to see us in to a 4th year in the Premier League
Sitting with my son in the SEJ stand today. At halftime Mapps limped down the stairs but more surprising was that Success was sitting with friends two rows back. If he is fit it is a disgrace Mazzari did not have him in the squad when down the bare bones. My worry is it could mean he is off, been disciplined by the club or has an underlying medical problem that really does mean he cannot play much. Thought Okaka was our best player and although he is off Niang did try. Jaanmat always seems to over extend on his challenges so no surprise when he does his hamstring. Much for the Pizzas to do over the summer as we need a top coach and some quality key signings. Bottom 12 sides this year either poor or inconsistent. Next season may not be so easy with ambitious sides coming. COYHs!
It's been rumoured that Succcess refused to come on against Leicester and has been frozen out ever since.
One bright spot today - the miserable git Mr. Really left at half time, leaving a second half mercilessly free of 'reallys' and everyone and his brother being 'a fackin' cant'. Whilst our football has been hard to swallow this season at times, his relentless moaning has got on my nerves every game. No-one says anything to him because he is so aggressive. I 'really' hope he is one of the 10% who hasn't renewed his ST.
To be fair the owners didn't deliberately go for a negative coach, and one that was more negative than QSF. Mazzari was a deliberate choice as they thought he would bring a brand of more attacking football, not negative. We all know he is a die hard fan of 3-5-2, we all know he persisted with it when it clearly wasn't working, and it was only when he had no choice to ditch it that he was tactically lost and ended up no better or worse than QSF.
did not read a single ***in word of this, or any of his other posts, but presumably he has offered us all a heartfelt apology for being so badly wrong about us getting relegated this season? In which case, I accept your humble apology, hornetboy1. Fair play for you for being a man and admitting your many glaring faults.
I can imagine your 'tidy profit' consisting of huge and consistent losses which you sweep under the carpet, then claim success over a few minor wins at the end of the year to save face.
Not really.....I'm still laughing because I backed Leicester to finish top four last season when everyone said I was crazy and wasting my money. I rarely bet actually, but when I do, I only take on things that I'm convinced will happen. Of course I have losses along the way, but I've never made a loss over a season yet.
By whom? If this is true and not Moog being a tease then Lord help us! There has been no mention of him in the Wobby or Mercury since his disappearance so it's all very odd.
I felt very sorry for some of our players out there who were trying. Doucoure, Cleverley, Holebas, Behrami, Mason, Eletheriou etc. It was clear we just didn't have the quality/personnel to compete with City and they were just chasing shadows in the end. Must have been very disheartening for them. I did feel that a few players let us down though. Niang especially after pretty much asking to be taken off. Disgraceful and can quite frankly **** off. I don't know about Janmaat either. In the few times he's gone off this season, most of the times we've been up against it. He went off when 3 or 4-0 a down against Spurs didn't he? Certainly seems like whenever he's having a tough day he gets injured. I hope it's a coincidence but I'm really not sure. Capoue went missing again. Seems to give up when things go against us. Injuries of course played a part though, and I can't really blame the manager for the loss. What I can blame him for is the atmosphere around the club at the moment. The players don't seem to respect him, and the chants of 'off off off' which whilst they were funny, just demonstrated the lack of connection between us fans and him. Glad to see most fans stay and clap the players at the end. Most deserve it as it's not their fault that their ability, attacking threat and imagination on the field was sucked out of them by Mazzari the clown. Season has ended at the perfect time. Another month left and we'd be down. Please can we get an English speaking manager who knows the league well, and also let him get his players in as Dowling (who I assume does most of the recruitment, pleas correct me if I'm wrong) has done a useless job over the last year for the most part.
Put any money on Watford to lose their last 4 by at least 2 goals, plus Hull and Swansea to win their last 4 by more than two goals, plus Palace etc to win? If not, why? The odds were extremely favourable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I wonder if the ref heard the chants of 'off, off, off' and thought better of it. Can only imagine the scenes had he been sent from the dugout.
Thank god that was the last game because I could really do with the break. The squad picked for the game just looked like a two fingered salute to the whole club from Mazarri. Two keepers on the bench and 3 at the back with no centre backs available? In 40 years I don't remember a game at home where there was such a gulf in class but as a football fan I thought City were brilliant to watch. The two young lads did ok but Mason got caught a few times. I think we saw today why Niang will fulfill his potential. A complete **** and very happy he isn't signing. Onwards an upwards to next season and hopefully we have learnt some lessons from this one otherwise we will be deep in the brown stuff Hope everybody has a nice summer whatever you're doing
Actually you can get closer - we could have got 6 points closer and still stayed up. Goal difference is not relevant unless you are on the same points so forget goal difference and go for one extra point. If we had finished 18th I would have said we were relegated - not in a relegation battle. You predicted what many of us believed - that we would lose our final 6 games - but even so we finished as close to 8th placed Southampton as to relegated Hull. The truth is that only 6 points separated 8th and 17th places. We were all much of a muchness - there were 5 good teams this year - and the rest. You are incorrect - if we had never been in the bootom 3 ALL SEASON - i.e. including the last day we would not have been relegated - and we weren't
