Of course I did. May as well get yourself off of these forums then if the only opinions/points of view you're interested in are those that fit in line with your own. Me and hb1 are far, far from the only ones vocally disappointed in this season.

Considering the frequency with which you rush out to screech strange insults any time someone mentions an at all negative view of Walter that doesn't completely tally with your own opinions, I get the feeling it might be you who needs to keep a regular watch on the moisture levels of your underwear.

I'll tell you a funny thing. I don't think Walter is the right man for us. I don't think the players are with him, and I don't like the style of football. What I'm able to do though is recognise that we've had a more than satisfactory season for the level we are at, and understand that we were safe many many weeks ago. It's the 40 point mark that has been responsible for the slapdash attitude of some of our players since in fact.

That is quite different from decrying the club, the manager and every player since Christmas and embarking on a crusade to wish us to relegation just to make 'a point'. Let's get some real perspective here - we're a below average premier league squad who has punched above and very recently punched below. The end result will be in Watford terms, success.

I much prefer posters who give an opinion before the event rather than after it. For that HB1 I applaud you. I know we didn't really have a serious chance of going down but I wonder just how many of the people giving you a hard time were quite happy when Palace won today?

  13. Travis Bickle

But he's given his opinion before at least 12 events this season, got it wrong and then slightly modified it. I agree that giving an opinion is worthy of applause, but in this case it must be a slow hand clap, no?

I was certainly happy...but that's because I wanted Hull to go down, not because I've been at all worried about us getting relegated. Can't stand 'em after that stupid bloody dance Elmohamady did a few years ago coupled with some of the gloating posts from their derpy fanbase.

So in the end two of the promoted sides went down. Hull never properly recovered from the shanigans last summer when Bruce left and the owners wanted out and barely a new signing was made. Silva did a good job but losing his proud home record to Sunderland last week did them. Boro never had enough goals in them. And Sunderland finally paid the price for many seasons of always being down there. Well done to Swansea, who looked doomed for large parts of the season, partly due to some bonkers decisions at boardroom level, but Clement did a good job, justifying the hype about him that had seemed misplaced after Derby.

Not sure I dare comment too much about us, as the debate here seems polarised and a bit angry. We stayed up, and actually never troubled the bottom three all season, but a couple of bad runs had us all worrying, until first the win at Arsenal and then defeats for those below us saw us safe. We limped over the line but at least we got over it. Another season at this level guaranteed. Phew. We will never actually know whether we switched off after 40 points, but I suspect we might not have had the stomach for a full-on relegation fight had we entered the last month or so with a few points less. On the evidence of the last few weeks, we have much to worry about regarding our prospects next season, but that's to assume a summer of little change. Which really isn't the Pozzo way.

We have a lot to worry about next season just as every team from 8th 45 points to 17th 38 points do plus the 3 coming up. A 7 point spread between the also rans in this league, and that is what we are, along with any other side apart from those above WBA..

There has to be a lot of change in the summer, there's no doubt about that. We've been incredibly fortunate to have stayed up this season. There was very little to choose between the three relegated sides and us. We only managed to score three times against them and one of those was an OG.

We survived because we got that little bit of luck in crucial games, which made all the difference. I suspect we'll finish 17th and do not deserve anything better really.

I look back and can only make a case for good performances in about 5 games. I doubt anyone can say we played well in more games than that.

Now we're safe, I'm really looking forward to the next two games. I'm happy we're involved in the Chelsea presentation match, and to have a high calibre opposition in our final match will be a good sign off, with the emotion being a GT tribute event.

Over the summer big decisions have to be made. This season was a huge missed opportunity. I believe the owners would have expected a slight improvement on last season. We should have been able to have picked up 50 points, which most likely have given us a very credible 8th place.

It's only 10 points less than what we actually got, but it's a huge difference when it comes to the perception of the club and its standing.

There have been far too many sub-standard performances, and it got to a stage where fans were completely turned off by the style. Nobody cared when we lost at Everton. Just a general shrug of the shoulders. This is not what it's all about.

There has to be entertainment of some sort. I don't think anyone expects too much, but we have to be at least competent. The performance against West Brom at home should be the standard, not the pinnacle.

I'm looking forward to next season though as I totally trust the owner to get it right. This year was a lucky escape, but I'm quite confident next season will see a big improvement.

See this is the bit I don't get about the Mazzarri hate from those who write it - it seems like actual hate. Proper vitriolic hatred for a bloke who, on the whole, would best be put in the 'unspectacular' category at most. Why be abusive towards him? I can sort of get it in the immediately aftermath of a poor match but days afterwards? To the best of my knowledge he's not had a bad word to say about the club or the fans. He's not got us relegated. He's coached the team to a couple of really memorable victories at Arsenal and at home to Man United. And frankly he has pedigree in the game which deserves some respect. All this abuse and hatred seems very un-Watford like to me.

Whilst I agree with most of your points its the fixtures we have had at the end of the season that has meant we are stuck on the 40 point mark rather than slapdash attitudes.

Hull away ( I predicted a loss due to Hull home form), then Liverpool, Leicester, Everton, with Chelsea and Man City to come. Myself and some others on this thread weren't expecting any points from these fixtures when they were talked about. We did the 'hard work' beforehand to reach the target.

Abuse from from people on the forum? Who'd have thought.

Seriously though, you have to accept some people cannot express themselves without abusive language. There's one poster that calls everyone "******" and it makes me laugh every time I see that word. It's a word not used since the eighties, but is still his "go to" insult word.

I don't really think there's any hatred to the coach, but there's a lot of indifference. He's not made enough effort to communicate, and that's his biggest downfall. There is no bond between fans which creates a divide. You can accept that if we're ripping up the league, but people will turn quickly when the side performs as badly as it has done this season.

I think he's been given an easy ride from fans to be honest. I don't think supporters have really turned on him. The only time was at Leicester, and it was more a p1ss take than hatred.

He has many faults, from language, ridiculous excuse making and being far too distant, but he has to be judged on his performance. Is his team selection consistently good? Are his tactics working? Do his substitutions improve the team? Is his reading of the game good?

These are questions that need to be YES answers, but I doubt you can honestly say that.

The two trains of thought are - "Sack him now " or "give him another chance". I doubt many would be upset if he goes though, which tells you a lot.

There are strong rumours circling, and I stress rumours, that something will be announced after the Chelsea match about Mazzarri, but we'll have to see if that's true.

Personally I think we need a better coach, but I would not be gutted if he stayed, provided he shows he has made the big strides he needs to make.

If Mazzarri leaves next week, you will become like UKIP have become after Brexit here on the forum lol

Seriously though, Adam Levnthal (as good a source as anybody) reckons WM isn't 100% nailed on for next season, and yes he too thinks we will hear something after Chelsea. Interesting!

    Nicely put .

And some call him a tactical dinosaur when half of the teams in the league this year have adopted the 343 formation he pioneered at Napoli .

He's not been great but he's not been a failure .

He's very well respected in the game and if he is here next we ll season whether he can successfully adapt his undoubted passion and tactical nous to the EPL .

He may well fail and be gone by Xmas, by I think that's a long way from being certain .

Gino clearly thinks that too and that's enough for me . He knows more about Watford FC and football in general than anyone on this forum , yes even HB1. So I'm going to reserve my judgement in his sacking for now .

If they've already made their mind up about Walter leaving, then I actually think it's best to announce it before the final game of the season, it'll avoid any issues between the fans and players/coaching staff on the final day. I guarantee there will be problems during the 'lap of honour' at the end of the match if fans think WM is still going to be here next season, especially if we get thumped by Chelsea and City.

  33. Legends

When i look at that table now, i have to confess it was not how i thought it would turn out like. At the half way point of this season, I thought we could reach at least 45 points and i was edging for 50. However cant see us getting off 40 now.

But i cant help but feel that since WBA we have effectively had the bags packed. And its not the first time in recent seasons is it?
2014, 2016, 2017 we have just rolled over.
Even in our final game of our promotion I felt we didnt give it our all against that very average SW side having secured the promotion the game before. I suppose that one can be forgiven.

Is it down to player attitudes? As we have gone through 4 managers now and feels like the same outcome.
