    Who's going down?

Which three teams will get relegated from the prem?

    I think WBA
    Palace
    Hull

    Think we'll finish 10th

Wouldn't like to say after that. We are a contender for sure I'm afraid, but I have a sneaky suspicion that Swansea will struggle this year after a mediocre year last season.

  4. Hull, Burnley, Sunderland

Hull, Burnley, Boro, Muff, WBA, Sunderland, Swansea, Palace and Us I think will be the candidates...what us and Sunderland have over the others are Premier league goal scorers (Deeney, Iggy and Defoe) the rest dont (that is why at the moment I have Palace to struggle if they buy someone then I think they will be fine, sadly).

My prediction though will be the 3 promoted teams. Dont know why people are think Boro and Muff will be soooo much better than us. Think we will finish 12th-15th which I would take right now. We have a tough start which should we fail to win will put pressure on.

Keeping Deeney is maassive for us, a leader on and off the pitch and a goal scorer. Think Walter will play him more up front rather than chasing around everywhere. With some of the signings think we will be quicker and more athletic round the pitch rather than just being solid.

there are enough teams I think that will be worse than us that I think we will be ok.

    For what it's worth:

    18th Watford
    19th Sunderland
    20th Hull City

    I'm ever the optimist.

Hull - Not looking great for them. Much will depend on who they recruit as manager and who he can bring in.

Muff - Not impressed with their recruitment so far. Difficult second season. The pluckiness starts to wear thin. Think they might be engaged in a satisfying struggle to keep their heads above the relegation line.

Burnley - Bit more of a question mark about these. Dyche is a good manager. Might get snaffled up by a bigger club. Their pluckiness could rise in parallel to Muff's fall. Obviously going to be around the relegation zone, but they might just have enough to finish above it.

Us - No idea. Could go either way I suppose. It's a fresh paperback novel that hasn't been opened. Might be a thriller, might be a tragedy. You'd think we'd also be around the bottom 8 or so, most of the season. I'd hope we've got enough to be at the top half of that mini-league.

Boro - As someone else observed, there's a sniff of the QPR about these. Big name recruitment and spending out. Might not be able to make a team out of them though. They'll be one of those in the same bottom 8 mini-league and could be one of the unlucky three.

With Hull's current situation, you'd think that them staying up would be more of a miracle than Leicester winning the league.

One of the other 2 promoted teams I'd think - depends on what they spend and on who in the coming weeks - maybe both.

Palace will be ok. They will get a good striker as they have already shown intent, and have good enough players.

West Brom should be ok. They'll eek out enough drab 1-0 wins under Pulis to survive at the despair of their poor fans.

    Swansea? Maybe.

Bournemouth - Think they'll do ok again. Good manager you know, and seem to have the makings of a good team at the back end of last season so with a few additions like Ibe, they'll do ok.

Sunderland - When Big sam went I thought they'd struggle. More of an unknown now Moyes is there and if they pick up Januzai they they will have started well. Keep defoe fit and scoring and they'll do ok - think a lot depends on him staying fit.

Us - we are an odd one. Established prem team? Second season syndrome? To me it feels like last season. A bit too unknown. New manager. New players. New style of play. Kept a good deal of the core - unexpectedly so. Feels like we should do ok, 10-14, but again it's all so unknown until we see how we set up and start. Tough to call. As others have said, think there are a lot worse than us, at least 3, but depends if we turn up and if Ighalo can find form again.

By my estimations there will be at least 8 teams starting the season with new managers..that's a big total! It makes predictions even harder! How do people think Southampton might fare, for example? New manager to England, plus players such as Pelle and Mane leaving.

I hear Martinez might get the Hull job?

The incredibly difficult start for us is a big worry and if we don't pick up points from this period could dent confidence and set the tone for the season

    Hull,Burnley and Sunderland for me

I must admit to being quite concerned for us this coming season. However, I just ran through that Diablo competition thread for league placings and the more I look through it the more I see 7 or 8 teams definitely ending the season lower than us.

    Bottom 3:
    Hull (no explanation needed)
    Sunderland (without Houdini they're stuffed)
Palace (Don't care who they buy, something is badly amiss in the dressing room)

    Below Watford:
WBA (Nothing they've done will improve them next season)
Southampton (Can't keep losing managers and players and still doing well, will catch up with them)
Burnley (Love Dyche and they'll survive, but only just)
Bournemouth (Bad summer business so far)
Stoke (Form at the end of last season was shocking)
Swansea (Due a really bad one, things slowly unraveling)

And Deeney on a new contract and a years Prem experience will tear it up IMO.

    Current Skybet odds:

    Hull 4/6
    Burnley 1/1
    Boro 6/4

    WATFORD 9/4
    Sunderland 5/2
    WBA 5/2
    Muff 7/2
    Swansea 4/1
    Palarse 6/1

So we're twice as likely as Swansea for the drop and the Muff love in continues with bookies.
But agree with their bottom 3.

We are (almost) a complete unknown again with the coach, player and system changes.

If we do OK in our tough opening fixtures then mid table, but if we get off to a bad start we may just struggle.
Ever the optimist, I think I'll have a flutter on top ten :)

Our opening 5 game yielded 1 point last yr in the corresponding fixtures with a point at home v Chelsea. If we don't improve v Soton and wet spam away and Chelsea,Arsenal and Utd at home things will look bleak. Hope we can do better but if not it will be a blow to confidence. However I think we will recover and have enough to see us safe.

Hull Burnley and boro. With muff or sunderland just surviving on the last day.

Palace wont be anywhere near the relagation zone the jammie gits.
Soton, WBA and Swansea will play bore draws to stay comfortably mid table
We will be mixed in there somewhere.

Fancy another big 6 club to go all shower of shi te - ill go Spuds rather than the obvious option of liverpool
Arsenal to win, then city and united.

It's a 38 game season! In this day and age there's always the constant need for everybody (in the media etc) to analyse and predict final league positions after every match of the campaign, and no doubt if we start the season badly there will be much doom and gloom BUT...

I'd far rather start badly and grow into the season rather than do what we and Palace and a few others did last year and wobble badly after Christmas.

It could well take time for us to start firing this season, so in a way the difficult opening fixtures are perfect as we wouldn't have been expecting that much from them anyway!

I'd never be so 'arrogant' as to say we will definitely stay up, and comfortably, as it's a tough old league, but I'm confident we will.

Oh dear,I've had such a lovely time pre season without fretting. Now this!

Our start is daunting, there's no denying it but I think we will be somewhere between 10-15th.

Hull and Boro with one from Burnley,WBA and Bournemouth.

Last season we started with a new head coach, a new formation, and several new signings with an excellent pedigree, and like most of us, I was optimistic.

This season we start with a new head coach, a new formation, and several new signings with an excellent pedigree, and like most of us, I haven't a clue whether we're going to do well, badly or something in between.

Presumably our cluelessness is down to the same group of players doing well in the first half of last season, and badly in the second half, but I've never been so uncertain about our prospects before a season starts (which doesn't mean that I've always been right in the past).

It has been a while since all three promoted teams went down - one usually survives. So I'm going for:

    18. Sunderland or Muff
    19. Burnley
    20. Hull

Think Sunderland will be right back in it without Allardyce, and they've been flirting with relegation for years now. I think this might be the year their luck runs out.

More importantly, who do you want to go down?

(And you can't just have Bournemouth 3 times)

For what it's worth, I'd add Burnley, simply because it's such a ball ache to get to and back from in a day.

Then Sunderland, because having looked forward to going there for ages, it was a massive disappointment and cost a fortune.

Middlesbrough can stay, because of it's proximity to Darlington and York.

Would like to see Burnley stay up because of Dyche.

From our perspective I think good to get as many big gate teams down as possible as I always feel we have an edge on similar size clubs like Bournemouth, Hull and Swansea due to the Pozzo network.

Sunderland, Stoke and West Ham I would go for if I could just pick (within reason of course so not Chelsea etc). West Ham going down would crack me up now they are in their new stadium and talking of hitting the big time - can't see it happening though!

I think the 3 to go down will be :-

    Burnley
    Swansea City
    Hull City

I wouldn't be too upset if Palace were relegated.

    Hull City
    Sunderland
    Middlesbrough

Injuries of course, for any of 7-8 clubs could have a massive effect.

There are 8 clubs starting the season with new managers and another 2 whose manager is starting his first full season.

I see it as one of the hardest seasons to predict.

Mind you, the equivalent of this thread last summer had most of us predicting Leicester for the drop!

I think Swansea's squad is pretty rubbish and think they'll struggle this season, haven't made any signings really either & just because Boro have splashed the cash I don't expect them to do too much, really don't see them doing any better than just scrapping it and if they do it'll be through good defence.

Hard to call apart from Hull who look nailed-on.

Burnely probably as they don't seem to be buying anyone worth mentioning. Even with a great manager you can't stay in this league with investing heavily.

Any one of Sunderland, Muff, WBA, Swansea, Boro for the final spot. If I had to bet I'd say Muff.
