It looks like there's a ban on alcohol in Lens for all matches there. Stupid to choose a host city that's not capable of handling thousands of fans.

Last home friendly tonight before we head to France, should be a great atmosphere!

Final squad announced tomorrow but we need to cut 5 players and 5 missed training yesterday so I'd say its those 5 who miss out. If thats the case Lee Hodson will be going to the Euros!

This Euros will be a bit different for me,looking at teams like Italy thinking which player/s should the Pozzos realistically go after. With The new boss I would expect a few Italians in the squad and if they are defenders then generally they will be pretty tight.I would also like a German brought in,one in the midfield with work rate and quality.Im sure there will be plenty of decent players on show who would come to WFC now.It would be very nice to get a quality player in any of the roles often referred to as the spine of the team.So the tournament is more than just about watching England and the usual suffering that goes with that.

Berghuis has made his international debut! He came on as a 61st minute sub for Memphis Depay. The Netherlands were losing 1-0 at the time but scored an equaliser before FT.

What a night, Will Grigg is on fire!

Good performance, really think we could surprise a few people in France and get out of the group.

My incredibly biased prediction is that we will make it to the quarter finals.

So... those happy French workers have decided to disrupt the Euros in protest about a proposed law that would deregulate their labour market. It seems from this thread that there's a few Watford fans heading down to the matches so here's a couple of bits and pieces that might help:

A website (and app) that shows which petrol stations currently have petrol (about 50% of them are having supply issues at the moment due to blockading of depots). With the app you can see the nearest ones to you that do have fuel: www.mon-essence.fr

English language version of France 24 so you can keep up to date with which particular strikes those lovable French are going to inflict on specific days: http://www.france24.com/en/20160530...ansport-strike-chaos-labour-reforms-euro-2016

    Safe travels!

That fool Hodgson has left out Drinkwater and taken all his injury prone big club favourites including 5 strikers.

Sterling and Milner are the only wide options.

    I say play a fast paced 4-1-2-1-2.

    Hart
    Walker
    Cahill
    Smalling
    Rose

    Dier
    Henderson
    Wilshire
    Alli

    Vardy
    Kane

Get Rose and Walker bombing up the wing and have the extra man in the midfield to play a high pressing game.

Every other team in the tournament seems to be 4-4-2, 4-3-3, 3-5-2, 4-2-3-1 so having 4 in a midfield diamond could do well for us.

    GoingDown "The Stability"

    On April 21st, Hodgson said:-

"If he plays anything like he is at the moment, he’ll definitely be a candidate for the Under-21s.

As far as the first team’s concerned, it would be a bold decision to put him in and it would mean possibly leaving someone behind who, in my opinion, has more reason to be called up."

He was talking about Marcus Rashford. Wonder who the others were? As they didn't get a look in. Who changed his mind? Sir Alex? The media? The powers that be at the FA?

This, along with the ludicrous omission of Drinkwater over players who have hardly played yet have featured in TV adverts or on the front cover of video games, should leave nobody with the idea that the England squad is picked on ability or with winning tournaments in mind.

    What matters is brand recognition.

Could have taken his pick who to leave out with justification. Wilshire, Henderson, Sturridge, Rashford, Barkley. But no. Hodgson leaves out in form Drinkwater who has played a key role in the Champions' team all season. Wretched.

Covering for an injury to Sturridge isn't he..

Shame for Drinkwater but Roy likes Wilshere even if potentially unfit and has other favourites..

Glad Rashford got the nod for fourth choice striker, may make an appearance of the bench at some point.

Defence looks a bit suspect so we'll be relying on scoring more than the opposition as we will concede - certainly going to be more interesting than previous International competitions.

Very versatile midfield which is always good, a shame Drinkwater didn't make the squad - potentially would've chosen him over Barkley or Sterling.

All in all, it's as good as it can be really, don't think there's any omissions from the squad that will go noticed too much.

Roy likes to play a 433 with a winger and a (hard-working) inside forward either side of a striker, or a diamond.

Harry Kane is the only definite, so when playing the diamond you will have one of Vardy, Sturridge, Rashford or Rooney next to him; and when playing 433 he will have Kane up front with Sterling (or Milner/ Lallana) on the wing and either Vardy, Sturridge, Rashford as an inside forward on the other side. Alli/ Rooney/ Barkley will rotate as the attacking midfielder behind the striker.

It's a very imbalanced side, and has too many strikers and the wrong selection of midfielders. I'd personally have left one of Lallana or Milner out and brought Townsend AND left Barkley out for Drinkwater.

Rooney should go as a more experienced backup to Alli (who is known to lose his temper), and Rashford and Townsend should go as their form over the last two months has been excellent.

Barkley has been so poor recently, that I'd even have selected Mark Noble or Carrick over him.

So a league winning midfielder gets over looked in favour of two players that have been injured all season, crazy. Dier and Drinkwater would of been a great partnership sitting infront of our shoddy defence. Where are Albrighton and Simpson also?

I wouldn't mind so much the gamble on Wilshire if Hodgson didn't keep contradicting himself over Walcott when he says he doesn't play enough games. Not that I want Walcott in the squad but Hodgson would make himself look more credible if you just came out and said he thought Walcott has been garbage all season, rather than trying to make it an issue of game time which makes him look idiotic when he includes Wilshire who has played a couple of games for Arsenal and can't play an England game without running out of energy.
