    It's a genuine question.

We all are relaxed about ighalo leaving in the summer because the pozzos extensive scouting network will have a perfect replacement lined up. Yet granada stayed up by the skin of their teeth last season and are teetering on the brink again this season.

So I'll ask again. Why are they so crap if the pozzos scouting network is so good?

If you dont know the answer, just dont reply. No need to make snide comments to make yourself feel better.

They're the EU passport printers and youth development arm. There's no money in La Liga for a club like Granada so I suppose there's little to gain from them as is stands. If they can stay up this year I understand the Spanish tv deal changes and they start to earn a bit more buck for Papa Pozzo. Maybe then they can attract the sort of players the network throws up.

Why hostility to the OP? OK it could have been asked in a better way but the question is valid.

Firstly we know that the TV money in Spain is heavily skewed in favour of the big two, and as I understand it it will be addressed somewhat from next season. However in order for the Pozzo model to work they can't being doing with Granada in the second tier of Spanish football. I don't have a clue to how good or how much exposure there is to La Segunda Liga but I doubt that it is as much of a shop window as the English second tier in terms of competitiveness and exposure (I think the Championship is the 6th most watched league in Europe in terms of TV and crowds).

Other than a good stopping point for attaining EU visas, surely there is quality amongst the 3 clubs to share around to ensure Granada a comfortable mid-table finish. In terms of potential earning power neither Granada nor Udinese are going to come close to us but if Granada do fall down a division it could be detrimental to the project.

Even if Granada are relegated, what it will lack in putting players in the shop window, it'll still act as a decent league for getting valuable experience for some of the younger players who aren't getting much game-time. Without watching Granada week in/week out, and only commenting from what i've seen and my knowledge of the team/league it seems like Granada have had the balance of players wrong for a while. Most of us looked at Iggys record there before he came here and scoffed, but now it's apparent that whilst he's great in front of goal, maybe it was the service he was getting which meant he wasn't getting the chances to put away. Some of the Pozzos transfers surprise me, but I'm guessing it's down to the players rather than the Pozzos. For instance I would've thought Scuffet would've been an ideal number 1 for Granada this season (as it was apparent he wasn't going to be getting the chances of last season), but instead they got in a keeper on loan from Porto and loaned Scuffet to a ****e Serie B team. But maybe the player was offered it but he refused. We don't know.

It's not hard to survive in La Liga, the bottom 5/6 teams are normally terrible and I doubt the Pozzos have any other ambitions for Granada in the near future other than just to survive (as the money they get means they'd need to very lucky/have a class manager to achieve anything other than that). Punching above your teams weight certainly is possible (see Rayo Vallecano of recent seasons), but ridiculously hard. The desire to get to the Prem and the strengthening of Udinese both take priority over Granada, and as such, they suffer.

This was a bit of a ramble without much point/cohesion but i'm tired.

Their Pozzo honeymoon is over, we should enjoy this Premier League lark while it lasts. Tranmere at home isn't too far away.

we've nicked all their players for free..... ighalo, pudil, nyom, anya and used them to loan in players like Parades, Acuna and Ireney

Feel sorry for them actually......time to give them Doyley and Murray

Thought it was pretty widely known that there were clauses in most of the trinity deals to pay transfer fees upon our promotion?

Granada's lack of progress has coincided with Udinese's.

If I knew exactly why, the Pozzos would be paying me a huge amount of money, but I'd hasten a guess that it's because (as has been mentioned by senior management at all clubs) they have had to change their approach to scouting recently, looking for players looking to rebuild their reputation rather than 'hidden gems' and supplying three teams with different needs rather than two.

This, in my opinion, is why the players sold by Udinese/Granada recently (looking at the likes of Brahimi, Allan, Benatia, Handanovic, Isla, Asamoah, who have all gone since the Pozzos bought us, then Sanchez, Pepe, Zapata and Inler the season before they bought us) haven't been replaced with equally good players, and quite possibly why I think Gino will be hesitant to let any of our key players leave - they haven't perfected the skill of buying the right players yet. Their ability to focus on their recruitment for Udinese/Granada has also been stunted because they've also had to concentrate their resources on us for the long-term security of all three teams.

The accounts say that since 30 June 2015 and promotion we have committed to £22.79m in transfer fees plus £13.58m worth of performance-related clauses. Are you saying not a penny of that went to Udinese or Granada? I don't think it adds up if some didn't.

Also pre-promotion the club had outstanding clauses owed to other clubs of £8.5m that were payable immediately upon promotion. Again, all in the published accounts. Are you saying none of that was owed to Udinese or Granada?

  18. It's very hard to find hidden gems these days, every top club in Europe scours the world for the next wonder kid when once it was just Udinese

The model looks to me like its changing and the scouting network looks at a much wider type of player: from older players who can do a quality job (Gomes) to players who once had world class potential but for whatever reason never quite reached the heights (Capoue)

Specifically why has it not worked for Granada?

Each club has to live within tis budget, Granada has the smallest budget of the 3 clubs, and because of TV revenue distribution there is no compelling reason for the Pozzos to divert cash or players there ahead of here.

Im not gonna try to answer this post and I'm think im the most qualified to do it.

    Not asking in that way.

Try to learn Premier-Liga-Calcio differences and maybe you'll find the answer alone, now that you seems so analytic.

And maybe you will find answers to: "If Quique Sanchez Flores is that good, why he did Liga that way?"

I have actually wondered myself why the Pozzo's haven't tried to invest more and stabilise Granada so they aren't in a relegation battle each season. I can only imagine it isn't currently financially worth it, with Real/Barca getting the bulk of the TV money and such.

Granada smashed again, by the bottom club this time. It'll be interesting to see what happens in January with regards to transfers.
