Minus points to the Watford fan who went on 606 and called him Capoué.

  4. How about the old Colin West song?

    Is Capoue 6'2"?

I think the guy is revelling playing for team like us, he knows he is probably the first name on the team sheet but it doesn't mean he is lazy, more the exact opposite. He has got an amazing amount of talent and just appears to be able to demonstrate this at will playing for us, a lot more pressure and competition and Spurs and it obviously brought the worst out of him. I'm 34 so definitely the best player I remember playing for us by quite some distance.

Than listen to 606? Not while driving home from the game, nope.

I fear you've taken my post a tad too seriously and made yourself look a bit stupid. Unless of course points are actually awarded to fans based on how they conduct themselves...

Watching him and Gomes walking off the pitch together made me smile. "Spurs - We'll wreck your career".

This guy is international class no doubt. He might be the first big money Watford Pozzo sale. This sort of performance consistently in the prem makes a £25m midfielder

I don't understand the need to sell any of our top players. OK, the Pozzo model in the past has been to buy cheap and sell for profit - but they never had the riches of the PL to exploit until now. What is £25m or even £50m for Capoue if we get relegated?

Players will want to move when offers come in.

If Man City came in and offered 25 million for Capoue, I seriously doubt he'd want to stay with us.

The one thing we can be sure of is our owners won't sell low. When a player moves (and it'll be at the end of the season), it'll be for big money. If they've uncovered players as good as Capoue and Iggy already, just imagine what they'll do when we are an established Premier League team who can afford basically any up-and-coming/rough diamond/unappreciated world beater signing they want.

I know I'm only criticising your example and not the principle behind it, which is founded, but Capoue would turn down a move to Man City because he's already moved to a club with huge expectations and high pressures, especially a Man City team that has Yaya Toure, Fernandinho, Delph and Fernando. Now if it were a team like Everton or Southampton for example....

If Gino thought he could keep us up and get incredible sell on money then it's a no brainer for him

Often very smart business to sign a talented player who, for whatever reason, has had a career dip.

For me he was the big signing of our summer because it was both a statement BY us but also a statement FOR us, as it showed a player of his class actually wanted to join us. The inference was he believed in us and thought we might stay up.

I'm not an expert on French football (or any football, some might say lol) but he seems to be playing now just as he did during his last couple of seasins back home when he had the works at his feet.

Nice to know we can get some 'record transfer fee signings' right isn't it!

    I don't think that's true at all.

OK, but realistically, which PL teams are likely to come in for him (or any of our players) with a serious bid that he'd rather go to other than us?

Not Arsenal, Man City, Man U, or Chelsea, as their sights are set considerably higher, without any disrespect to Capoue's abilities.

Norwich, Bournemouth, Newcastle, Sunderland or Villa? They'd love him, but surely Capoue wouldn't wish to go?

Crystal Palace, Leicester, Southampton, West Brom, Swansea and Stoke are similar teams to us and none of them would be a 'dream move'.

That leaves Tottenham (?!) Liverpool (most likely), Everton and West Ham or a move abroad, probably Udinese or Granada.

I reckon he'll stay as long as we want him.

Yes Capoue has been great this season but I think its a bit early and pointless to be speculating on him moving to another club for profit. Live for the moment as a fan and just enjoy the football for now. The time for speculating on transfers is in the summer and I dont see Capoue leaving this summer.

Gino said this is the new 'Pozzo model'. The big clubs cottoned on to the old one and they can't compete anymore, so they've moved on to this.

Depends how well he's playing really. Man City bought Bony on the back of short successful spell at Swansea. The reality is that we're paying low wages by the standards of the league we're in under the promise of letting players leave when a good value offer comes in. That's the way the Pozzos have managed to sign excellent players at Udinese when paying low wages for untold years now, and it's why they have a brilliant relationship with agents.

Capoue's not a moron. He's turning 28 in July and if a big team came in for him, he'd go for a fat contract and a final chance at making it at a big club before he's out of his prime. I've got no doubt he's enjoying himself at the club, but he's not got that many hay making years ahead of him in the grand scheme of things. The idea that he'd stay with us forever purely because Spurs treated him poorly just doesn't resonate with me.

Of course he'd go if City came in for him...they'd probably pay him at least somewhere between 5 and 10 ten times what we are paying, for starters. The only club he wouldn't go to is Spurs.

There are also a smattering of foreign teams who pay silly money. PSG could easily come in for him and put a fat offer on the table, for example.
