I always knew Leicester would do well this season.

Apart from the 12 people who bet on them winning the league - one of them at 5000/1 !!

In our last 14 games, despite remarkably beating Liverpool (the only game we've achieved a 2+ GD), the only other teams we have beaten are the bottom 4. Newcastle may well turn it around (Townsend will be a season changer for them) and given our form we may find ourselves fighting at the bottom.

As for the suggestion that 2 strikers is more positive than 1, an irrelevant fact if they're not getting the service and firing them in.

As for knowing nothing about the game, check my other posts - you'll see that I'm professionally qualified in sports science, an FA licensed coach, have managed & coached teams and am a travelling ST holder. I can also manage to post here without trading personal insults.

No, you'll just say something is irrelevant because it disputes your claim....

Is this quantified over all games, or the last 14? Stoke was 2-0

OK - take the opinion out of the equation and just some facts:

    Shots this season:

    Watford - 198
    Villa - 202
    Norwich - 209
    Muff - 224
    ------
    Leicester - 256
    Man City - 299

Liverpool is the only game with a GD of >2. Stoke, W Ham & Norwich were GD of 2

I see, interpreted 2+ to be >= 2. Surely you will at least admit your choice of 14 is completely loaded given the 2 games preceding them?

Just don't get why prices like this are offered; yes, seems like free money for the bookies, but how badly do they need the 50 quid it generates? Elvis being found on the moon is a significantly shorter price. Or Corbyn becoming PM.

Sorry, where are we in the league? Seems to me that the 'negative' approach has served us well and I don't think you can possibly dispute that. I don't know if you're a fan of WD Sport but I suggest reading their article today on how Quique has gone about things this season. It says a lot that you're supposedly an FA qualified coach who favours Bournemouth's gung-ho 'leave ourselves open at the back' approach over our cautious, disciplined approach which has served us so well so far.

Are we all agreed we won't get relegated this year ; and next years squad will be better than the current one; and will be expected to improve on this seasons excellent performance?

I'm just waiting for when we reach the mythical 40 points as described by Moses upon his return from Mount Sinai , and then we can all ascend to heaven with Angel Gabriel and all the other newly promoted teams to have reached 40 points in years bygone.

He's genuinely talented & has huge ability. Very likable too. When he first arrived at Vic Towers I thought he was one of the best CB's we've had in years. Unfortunately though he seems to lacks of concentration & he's destined never to be a top player unless he can sort that out.

I didn't realise West Ham had had such a bad run and Swansea also hit bad form, not forgetting Stoke!

I'm not going to have too much of a go at neraksarrab like others because he does post some useful stuff (I liked that thread he made last season comparing our progress with the previous two seasons) but these latest posts of his suggesting we might be dragged into a relegation battle and his reasons why are pretty ridiculous and illogical, and with more than a suspicion of trolling.

So apart from Liverpool (a pretty massive "apart") we have only beaten teams in the bottom 4 in our last 14 games, so what? We all have to play those teams at some point, and we currently have a 100% record against them, which is more than even the top 5 teams can boast. In fact, in the exact same fixtures, Leicester and Man City have drawn at Villa, Man Utd have lost at home to Norwich, Spurs and Man Utd have both dropped home points to Newcastle, and we have beaten Norwich by more goals than Man City managed and beaten Newcastle by the same margin as Arsenal with more goals scored. And yes there's an outside chance it could go horribly wrong in the next three months, but so far there has been very little to suggest that we will be dragged into a relegation battle, as we have several assets that most relegation candidates in previous seasons have lacked: (a) a solid defence, with only Arsenal, Man Utd and Spurs having a better record at home (b) a proven goal scorer (c) we still don't have a negative goal difference (d) the fact that no team has hammered us and we have been outclassed over 90 minutes in very few games (e) the first half against Chelsea for me was the best we've played since Liverpool, and we've had too many performances like that to suggest that we could be going down or even close, and a poor game at a top three side doesn't change that.

That said, the next two games which look quite winnable could collectively be a season definer - win both, and our safety is all but secured, fail to win either and we'll probably have to settle for 14th/15th, which will be a bit disappointing but still pretty commendable in the grander scheme of things.

angella would be our 2nd top goalscorer if he'd been playing this season. Admittedly we'd have a -10 goal difference too, but you cant have everything.

Sadly I fear we could lose them both, and where would that leave us, on a slippery slope that's where!

These stats are only relevant if you offer a goal conversion percentage - For those wondering, WE have the best shots to goals percentages of the four.

And that's what it boils down to. I won't consider us safe until it's mathematically impossible for us to go down but there are definitely 3 teams worse than us. We've shown that we can beat the teams below us, which are the most important wins, and we can put in big performances when we need them (Newcastle home).

Thanks for the balanced view; I'm not trolling, merely trying to manage my own expectation.

In the first half of the season we accrued 29 points, so an average of 1.52 ppg; so far, in the second half we've averaged 0.66ppg. If this is extracted across the season it takes us to 41 points. Sounds desperate but its unlikely we'll beat Liverpool or West Ham second time around; Everton, Muff and even Sunderland are finding their form. Sunderland also have a horrible habit of crawling up the league in the closing games and have secured half of their last 9 PL seasons in the bottom quarter.

So, I'm not being hysterical, trolling or otherwise, but pointing out that we might be in for a miserable couple of months, where it might go to the wire.

I called our championship point total last year at about this time accurate within 2 points; I'm pretty confident that Villa, Norwich and one other are for the drop...lets hope 41 points is enough.

WBA looked truly rancid tonight: horrible team, should love them to go down. Hard to think of a more unpleasant player in the league than Olsson. Unless it's MacClean.

Looked awful against Peterborough, that last minute sitter was embarrassing, wish we were playing them a bit sooner, if they continue like that can see them sinking into the danger zone.

Some dodgy stats there as in this second half of the season we've had much tougher games. Of the teams we've played twice (Chelsea, Man City, Spurs, Newcastle, Swansea, Southampton) we managed 6 points in the first half, and 4 points in the second half (not too bad considering Swansea and Southampton were both away in the second half). Really Swansea is the only match we've dropped points where we should have got more in my opinion.

If we then look at points per game of the other 13 matches, in the first half of the season we got 1.77 points per game. If that drops at the same rate of two thirds as we have so far for the second half then we can expect 1.17 points per game in the remaining 13 matches, leaving us on about 48 points. Comfortable. And I don't think our points per game will drop by that much personally, I still expect us to break 50 points.

All will be much clearer after the next couple of games, don't understand the panic reactions to a loss away at the team second in the league who have won six on the spin!

Do I think we'll somewhat crawl over the line rather than sprint? Yes. Do I think we'll somehow manage to get less than 7-8 points from 14 games. No. Simples.

They all seem to be suggesting totally different reasons, but none have quite zeroed in on the big one: Their players aren't very good.

Perhaps in past a team like theirs would be par for a lower half Premier League team, but they don't appear to have appreciated how much lower half clubs are improving.

If you take out Tettey and Brady the entire team looks like a Championship outfit. A spine of Ruddy/Rudd, Bassong/Martin, O'Neill/Dorrans, Hoolahan/Howson and Jerome/Mbokani? They would all have been purged by Gino if they were at Watford in the Summer. Because Gino accepted the fact that times are changing and even teams in the lower half need serious proven quality to compete.
