The power to block specific posters from your own threads

There are several undesirables on here I can't stand for various reasons. Whilst they're all on my ignore list of course, that doesn't stop them from quoting me and me subsequently getting notifications every time they do so.

I don't want their notifications and I don't want to see their drivel on perfectly good threads that I have started. Would it be possible to implement some sort of tool to block certain posters from commenting on threads you've created, or even keeping those threads invisible from said posters?

I understand that this is a tool that would have to be used wisely, and not petulantly at the drop of a hat. I've had more than enough time to decide that I'd be happier however if I had even more power to block these undesirables from my own threads.

Mods - any thoughts on this?

Nope sorry, it's a public forum. As long as people follow the rules they can post. If someone objects to a post because they feel it breaks the rules then use the report button. A Mod will look at it as soon as possible.

If you simply don't like them, then the ignore list is perfect for ignoring them.

Whilst I agree blocking posters from posting in threads is going too far, the block function isn't very good. Not only do you see that they've posted (with the option to view the post - like having a button with a sign saying 'don't press'), you also see if people have quoted them and you also see the threads that they have created. Quite frankly, I don't want to see any of those things and I'm sure those who have blocked me don't want to see the same.

Could this functionality be enhanced to eliminate the above limitations?

You might find comments annoying that I like or vice-versa, you shouldn't be able to control others experiences.

But you should be able to personalise your experience, so a block feature that pretty much makes that person invisible to only you.

  6. Could we have a button that sends an electric pulse down the internet to maim people we don't like?

It's not though, that's what I'm saying. If they decide to quote you for whatever reason, then Tapatalk users still get notifications. Is this only an issue that can be rectified by contacting Tapatalk?

I at least am never annoyed by your comments, Squibba! Though I'm sure we've disagreed from time to time, that's part and parcel of being on a football forum. I accept that. What I don't accept is having idiots posting garbage in threads that I have created. Having them on my ignore list is not enough. Not only do I get notifications when they quote me, but other reasonably-minded posters get drawn into arguments with them and quickly descends into chaos.

Mods - I'd also add that improving the ignore button or even making other posters invisible to you makes your job easier in the long term. How many times have you had to step into threads on here in an attempt to defuse the situation? How many times have threads been closed because of it?

I think implementing this feature would leave you with significantly less policing to do on here as many of these arguments would never happen in the first place.

It's the t'internet - if someone says something you don't like then ignore it. If your blood is still boiling then turn off your computer/phone/iPad and go and do something in real life

There are many on this forum who have polar opposite views to me but that's what makes it interesting...

Also, why are obvious trolls of other clubs allowed to post on here? Caskey and that MK ***** fan come on here solely to wind others up. Whilst I never speak to them, giving them a temporary/permanent ban surely would work better?

Really not meaning to be patronising here, El D, but why let it wind you up? The people who really matter are in those in the real world. You never need to meet the people who annoy you on here. Never mind the "ignore" button - just actually ignore the comments of those who irritate you with this in mind; even if they quote you. Also, re trolls from other clubs - I like the fact that this forum tolerates them as they simply make themselves look ridiculous with their posts. I wouldn't want this forum to become like that mega-sensitive Everton board which seems to ban any opposition fan who dares to post.

Conversely, I find it quite odd that I feel a sense of camaraderie with some on here, even though I've never met them and probably never will.

Of course, if I'm on your ignore list, this post will simply have annoyed you more ;)

Hi mate. The reason it annoys me is when I see threads that I've started (which usually start off well) quickly descend into arguments between several posters just waiting to have a pop at each other. If the ignore function worked properly, then I could make both of said posters invisible to me and they could do the same to each other. As I say, I honestly think an improvement in this function would see less threads on here descend into chaos and it'd make everyone's time on here easier.

I have to disagree with you regarding the trolls from other clubs. I have no time for anyone who comes on here with the sole intention to wind others up or start gloating. I never get involved, but the lack of policing these posters doesn't mean that it doesn't affect my enjoyment in using this forum (which is very good by the way).

Regarding the ignore function, I'd like for it to be improved to a point where I would never have to guess that these people exist. I also don't want notifications when quoted (but I understand this may be a Tapatalk issue and not WFCforums.

Nope, don't worry. You're not on the list. I honestly think I have about 6 people on the list. Considering the amount of people who are registered on here and the amount of regular users, I think that's pretty good going!

Can't accept that I'm afraid. Whilst I do ignore it, how do you ignore the notifications from quoting? How do you ignore the arguments that start because of said moron crawling out of his hole to spout yet more drivel? Improve the ignore function or give posters the power to block certain others from viewing and/or contributing to the topic of discussion and I think this would be a better place for all and would leave the mods with less work to do.

I say again, I have no problem with others having a different view to me. All forums have this. What I won't accept is stupid attitudes from others.

He wouldn't but he would see that I'd posted which he wouldn't want; he doesn't want to see anything from those on his "ignore" list.

Stupid attitudes are part of life..

I don't get why people have to post 2000 holiday pics and check in from the business class lounge on FB, but they do
I don't get why people on this forum, when encountering an opposing view, get personal, but they do
I don't get why a horse rider told me to fark off when I kindly asked for him and a mate to ride in single file as they were creating a tail back, but they did

Let it go over your head

I've never used the 'ignore' function. Either it's OTT and reportable (which I've never done either, but probably would) or it's not and there it is - it's a forum and people are expressing themselves.

I get endlessly misquoted and attributed with beliefs by extrapolation that are nowhere near mine. But it seems that those people feel I do so too. But it's rare to find anyone you can't make a point of contact and understanding with.
