After 3 games we have 3 players in the top 22 of whoscored.com performance stats.

Capoue is 4th best CM behind Toure, Shelvey, Henderson

Cathcart is 5th best CB behind Kosclieny, Smalling, Skertel and Kompany

    Gomes is 1st ranked goalkeeper.

If Vydra was playing he'd be top in everything and would've scored 9 goals by now.

Whoscored.com have been given a free point to give to the team with the highest individual ratings.

Could be important come the end of the season.

The only statistic that matters is the official Premier League table

    This honestly means nothing.

I am a professional statistician and I wouldnt dream of trying to apply statistical measurements to our team at this point in the season. Check back in December to see if any of our squad are doing okay.

It's stating the obvious to say a small sample size devalues the meaning. But that is we all have to go on after just 3 games, so still interesting to ponder , with this caveat in mind no ?

After all we don't restrain from talking about games and the reflections it gives upon a teams standing just because it's the third game of the season.

It's about an accumulation of knowledge that leads to an increasingly refined interpretation, as the season progresses.

If you d said that whoscored.com isn't a very reflective source, because it only measures a small amount of data , I'd have to agree, but it's the only publicly available football statistics and therefore a worthwhile post , I believe.

Yep. And so would Forestieri and Abdi.
