Still the signing I'm most pleased with. Skillful, aggressive, he looks like one of those players you see on the TV in, what is it now, oh yes the 'Champions League'.
Seeing Norwich struggle to get going on signings reminds me how important our London connection is. I just can't see players like Capoue or Holebas being keen on moving there.
Thing is, with the Pozzo family, it's possible to sign quality foreign players with the possibility of moving to Udinese or Granada if it goes south at the Vic for whatever reason
Thought he was good today. As long as his attitude is positive and not detrimental to the squad, I'd be very happy for him to stay.
Yes but as a 29/30 year old Greek international he won't want to stay here as a reserve. Needs to either be a first-year regular or move on.
Yes - but with Ake returning at end of season surely he realises there is a place for him. For me would prefer to see Holebas and Ake sharing the playing time rather than Anya keep getting game time(nice bloke though).
Played well but even his interview after the game had an air of 'I don't want to be here'. Quique maybe told him to give us one performance to help us move him on next month.
Perhaps he's just a sullen cove? I'd like him to stay as he is clearly a top player but he needs to convince himself, it would seem.
Fantastic crossing yesterday and showed his pace. If he's staying then he offers us the option of putting decent crosses into the box. Ake doesn't really swing a lot of crosses in and Nyom's crossing is a bit hit and miss.
I think he might accept QSF thinking that 2 games in 3 days after such a long layoff might not be wise. He might even agree. However the Man C game is a different story
He's your archetypal poker-faced, continental, hard man with added skill. I love him and hope he stays.
Played well offensively yesterday but his defensive work rate was a bit under par. Also thought he could have easily cut out Willians pass for their second goal , didn't even try . But overall a good comeback and great to have someone in the team that can actually cross
I can't see the club appealing against the red card TBH so a good chance for "the moody one" to cement his place in the side. If he can be arsed.
Big chance for Holebas to impress in the next 3 games. He was very good I thought against Chelsea, and should be more than adequate cover for Ake. Sent from my Lenovo A5500-F using Tapatalk
When he applied for Greek citizenship, he changed his name to Iosef Cholevas to make it more Greek sounding I guess
He grew up in Germany so I suspect Holobas is a phonetic translation that has stuck even if Cholevas would be closer to the actual Greek spelling of his family name.
True. Otherwise in Germany his surname would have been said as Holefas and that just sounds completely different. At least as Cholevas, the usage of the Greek letters means the v is written with a beta so it passed off as Holebas.
It will be interesting to get Holebas' thoughts now. I get the feeling he is putting in a shift as a shop window thing but he looked genuinely gutted at the end of the City game and must see he is at a club that is actually able to compete against the best with potentially more quality signings to come. It did seem, however, that he really was on his own at the end of the game. Only QSF went over to pull him up to his feet. Difficult to know what to make of his subsequent 2 minute statue impression he did!
