Sir Elton John Stand

  1. This promotion does have more of a real deal feel about it, compared to the last two, but I seem to remember that our average gate on those occasions were under 15000, so we need to do something about low gates when we can't rely on high profile opposition to bolster the figures. Particularly, I hope pricing won't be prohibitive for non season ticket fans or potential newbies, which I think was part of the issue last two times round.

Good news is that we averaged over 20000 in 82-83, so the potential is there, and a figure like that I believe should be enough to encourage some sort of extension.

Have I dreamt this or does the GT stand have the capacity for another tier, I seem to remember that extra strong foundations were installed when it was built to allow for an extra tier if it was ever needed? If so now might be the time to go for it!!!

What with the SEJ being a temporary stand I would imagine plans at putting in a permanent structure to mirror the GT Stand will probably be dusted off.

They've said ex-ST holders and regular match goers will be given priority sales. We have ~19,000 seats and only 11,500 season ticket holders so I assume there will be a few thousand to go on sale atleast. No idea about how many and the costs of such though!

    It's not a temporary stand.

Ok .... must have confused the concept of it being lego-like with it being temporary.

Wonder if seats could be added infront of the stand, down to pitch level

strange memory ... with the reduced capacity we sold out many of our games last time we were there.

Maybe he mis-typed and meant 18000? The average last time around was 18750.

Yes and the times we were just short of capacity had much to do with the away allocation

If we aren't rooted to the bottom we'll sell out for every fixture this time.

Didn't want to make a new thread about this, so thought this would be the best thread given it's about the stadium

How ridiculous does that huge Orbital Fasteners sign look in the SW corner? I haven't noticed it until a few weeks ago.

Really hope that's gone before next season.

Had a letter from the club this week about the central block that we sit in in the SEJ stand. Essentially we're being politely removed after the match.

It would appear that there will some sort of presentation going on after the game and all of us in block 4, (the middle bit), will be turfed out after the after the final whistle so that the presentation can take place there. Obviously we'll be booted out in a nice way and don't have to leave the ground. The letter doesn't make it clear that it will definitely happen, just that it probably will. This says to me that they expect the pitch to be invaded and for the promotion party to begin up there with the players, (and hopefully the winners trophy to boot). If any of them stand on my seat there will be words.

I may hang around and pretend I'm a member of the Vydra clan, hence no English and lots of hand gesturing.

  17. How much would it cost to 're-rake' the LGT at the VR end to make those restricted view seats useable?

A fortune and I reckon we'd move stadiums before that happens. The real problem is that the rake on the vic road stand is too high at the front thereby stopping us from lowering the pitch ... If I was going to 're-rake anything that's where I'd start.

That or the cheaper option .. which is to push the pitch further towards the Rookery.

If that is true then if the SEJ currently holds 3400 in 17 rows then that would suggest six new rows of seating allowing for the access stairs.

I wonder if the roof will cover the seats from the elements, as sitting in the rain is not a pleasant experience and not really fitting for a P.L. Club, it looks a bit tight on the photo!

Probably just something boring like relaying the surface there in preparation for electronic advertising boards.

I wonder if Gino is now wishing that maybe he should have gone with a bigger SEJ. If it now looks like we'll sell out every match in the EPL, then maybe we could have sold out another 2000 seats nearly every match too.

I can understand the caution but it will surely be more expensive to stick another tier on the SEJ at a later date than it would have been to build a two-tier stand in the first place and in the interim we'll be losing revenue.
