They've done bloody well to get the back panels up today, given the wind.

Old people moving full stop is a nightmare, they always get in the way, they are always slow, they are always falling over.
If you are slow wait to go last

I don't know about that. I've heard all of Deeney's energy drinks have disappeared from the dressing room. They are blaming the hurricane but Pudil Jnr was seen leaving the scene.

I've heard Mrs Pudil was the accomplice. This would seem to explain Deeney's minimal impact after being brought on.

I applied to go there today, see what seat I get in November and then decide.
I feel very young there, hence my willingness to move.

After Hillsborough on Saturday, I think we'll have a fantastic stadium - traditional, with character but with good facilities and good sightlines with no blooody pillars. Best of all worlds - hope we never move!

Wouldn't want to be nudged off the pitch at high speed near those steps.

They might have to put some sort of protective padding on them as they look pretty close to the pitch.

The whole project shows some fine British "workmanship" e.g. two blokes have been staring at the scaffold tower in the back row most of the day. At any time you can see loads of blokes just standing arouns popinitng at things or doing F*** all.

Also why is it so hard to fit the sloping panels to the safety rails - seems to take them ages.

Zoom in a bit. You can see the face of the steps between the new rows so they must have lower backs on the seats too.

I may be wrong, but I dont even think that the "backs" are on yet. One seat in the middle has fallen down, and there is nothing behind.

agreed when you look at the completed seats you can see the bottoms are darker than the back rests, so it could be an optical illusion until the back rests are put on. Also note that the completed seats have been in place for a couple of months and have received some sunlight and the fading process would already have started but probably by only a very little.

Yeah dont panic guys, It only looks much darker because the top of the seats arent on yet (which are lighter from the outset) nothing to do with them gaining sunlight since being fitted.

It was actually quite hard to find a picture to show you as the builders fitted the majority of the red seats in the east stand in one go with the bottom and the top of the chair already assembled, however i found this row of seats which were fitted seperately to begin with in May, then they were removed and fitted again but this time with top and bottom.

Any ideas what they're going to do with the dugouts? Will they keep those cheap looking ones, or get some sort of permanent structure put in?

The plans were released with the dugouts subject to further planning. ie. I imagine the club has a plan for that area but whether it's achievable during the season rather than waiting til summer is anyone's guess.

I have yet to see more than half a dozen people/chaps/blokes and a dog working on the project at any one time, it appears the dog might have run off/died/ been shot as the work seems to be taking ages. I wonder if it is a carefully laid plan that the Ponzzos realised it doesn't have to be complete before we play Man City in the third round of the cup in January, or are they just waiting for the premiership to come to the Vic?

It's great our stadium is no longer an embarrassment, but I couldn't help but notice at the Forest game how small the East Stand is compared to the Graham Taylor. Particularly looking at how far the respective roofs project over the pitch. A mirror of the GT stand would have been fantastic, but I'm just being greedy!

There isn't much scope for expansion and when needed the next step will be relocation ... why waste money on such such grandeur for just a couple of (ok say 5-6) seasons?

yup, I agree. By 2020 Watford will be playing somewhere near the motorway and a major rail station and Vicarage Road will be consigned to this lot:

By-and-large football grounds are big and ugly, they are not ancient temples that merit preservation despite some wonderful memories. Once it's gone I won't miss the Vic one jot.

think there is more scope for expansion than a lot of people realise but I may be wrong. All four of our stands sit far enough back from the pitch for it to be levelled and sunk a few meters down. Meaning all srands could have extra seats added to the fronts of them. None of us know exactly how but the east stand can be expanded the GT can have a third tier? and we can stick seats in at least 2 possibly 3 of the corners. If this was all done our stadium would be circa 30/35k at a guess.

But why? ... that would be very expensive and could still be inadequate in 10 or 20 years, who can tell?
The value of the Vic site alone would go a long way towards paying for a whole new stadium on currently unusable land.
