Seemed like they had downed tools this week until today. Another change of design or just interior work we cant see?

My sources tell me one of the builders got his foot stuck in a toilet in one of the new changing rooms. It's taken all weekend plus Monday and Tuesday to free him.

They could be gutting out the old stand before knocking it down, I saw 5 workers sitting in the dug out yesterday.

That camera has caused so many problems. Why do they even have it available? Surely no-one really needs half-hourly updates? A weekly or fortnightly update would be more than sufficient for me.

Just look at it weekly or fortnightly then?

Yeah maybe. I saw those yesterday also wasnt sure if they were workers or groundsman?

I think you've identified a bit of a PR issue for the club here.

Some people sit there and religiously look at it every day, or even more frequent than that, and don't see much progress (which you wouldn't in short spans of time) so allude to it being hugely behind, or it won't be done in time.

Not that they care, I'm sure!

Actually a lot of the visible progress has been very quick indeed which probably makes periods like this seem unproductive by comparison. And don't forget it was the club themselves who announced it would be partially open by March and fully by the end of the season. When that timetable slipped I don't think things were well communicated so now people are left guessing. There's lots of rumours that the spec has changed for the better but the club haven't commented on most of that. I think this is another one which we can attribute to the Pozzos working quietly behind the scenes.

To be honest we've had three stands for so long, I don't give a **** when it gets finished. Just as long as it does.

How big a problem is "sun in the eyes " going to be?

  20. JH93

If the updates from the webcam tell us anything, it's that the sun is rarely a problem in Watford.

I've purchased a contraption calling itself 'sunglasses' and it's suddenly not a problem.

You've bought a pair of talking sunglasses big whoop! How is it gonna fair on a cold wet Tuesday night in Barnsley?

    re sun in eyes..

Not a lot of people know this but.. football pitches are supposed to be orientated North/South. The reason for this is so that neither keeper has the sun in his eyes for afternoon kick offs.
So if you are sat in the new East stand shading your eyes from the sun just remember.. its because our pitch faces the right way

I can't remember where from but I'd also heard it had something to do with where, way back when, the 'important' people sat.

The west facing stand would be where the owners and their like watched without having to shield their delicate eyes from the big nasty sun.

Also with runways, which in the UK apparently run east to west so that planes take off into the wind which I'm told is easier than the other way round.

Nice theory, Oxhey67, but not quite right.

The east side was where the first 'main' stand was built when the ground was opened. That's always been where the important people sat. The Shrodells stand (which was demolished to make way for the Rous in 1986) was only partially covered. If you sat in the paddock seats at the front on a rainy day, you got wet.

It was only when the east side of the ground was closed relatively recently that the big wigs moved over to their cinema-style black seats in the Upper Rous.

Does anyone know if the directors and VIPs and so on will stay where they are or move over to the other side when the new stand is opened? I suspect they'll stay where they are considering GT has been allocated two permanent seats in the stand that will take on his name.

There looks nothing VIPish about the new East Stand to suggest they will move there.

I may have gotten my easts and wests mixed up but the way football grounds were built and aligned was to make sure the money people sat in shade - if the story I heard is true, that is. :)

I would imagine they'll stay in the Rous as the East Stand has no corporate facilities.

VIPs like their comforts and status. Can't see them queuing up for a pie and beer at half time with the regular folk. They will stay in the Rous.

There isn't going to be beer in the new east stand tho

You saying it's going to be like the family stand (No beer). Can't believe that for one moment not with a brand new stand
Only reason Vic end has no beer as the concourse is too small so they can use the upper GT stand for a beer at HT

Also anybody else noticed the lazy [unts sat in the bottom of the rookery chatting most of the morning. Lazy sods want to get on with it...
