I would bite Lambert's hand off for eight million.

And then what? Replace him with someone better?

    We've heard that one before.

hopefully his support for Birmingham is too much for him to move to villa, and newcastle will never pay the asking price

I thought Villa might be interested as they've lost Benteke for a long time. £8m? Yes, definintely yes.

    Have we?

I'd be happy with anything upwards of 8 million. Only a fraction of that would be needed to sign Tozser, which I think is more important to next season than keeping Deeney.

but if we did sell him to villia would the pozzo family give the money to Watford to find a replacement or will they just keep in there pockets.

Ask Meldrew. He's very ITK about these matters.

It'd be reinvested in the club. £8m would do a lot for this club and with the Pozzo way of dealing with players this could go a long way for the future even if we spent £2/4m now.

He is not worth anywhere near £8mill. Accept and sell if that bid comes in.

    Sell sell sell.

We need a 20 goal a season striker, fox in the box type, not a carthorse like Deeney.

Get rid, Vydra's coming back next season anyway, just waiting for the right time to start a new thread about it on here.

The Watford of old would have sold him for £8million and brought someone in to replace him on a free transfer or Chris Iwelumo.

If we were offered £8million I'd take it for sure.

    Explain.

When the likes of Jay Rodriguez and Shane Long can go for around £7m why can't Deeney? 2 Brilliant seasons here after a really bad patch in his personal life that could have affected his career. Shows that it isn't a one off.

I think honestly that the decision will only come to deeney to decide weather he feels he's ready for the premier league.

This Tozser love-in has gone too far.

He's an excellent player and I'd be delighted if we signed him permanently but the calls to make him captain next season and suggesting that he's more important than our star striker and likely player of the season who has scored 20 plus goals two seasons in a row is ridiculous.

Yes the Watford of new will replace him with someone like Acuna....

    Or maybe Fabbrini....

Vydra's the only striker they have got right so far so I'd like to keep hold of Deeney as long as possible.

I'd keep him, convince him we're going up by bringing in some talent and then if we're not looking at promotion by January let him go.

I think Ranegie, Fessi and possibly Vydra are more than good enough to start the season with.

I wouldn't be confident starting the season having to replace Tozser.

The Pozzos famously negotiate good deals for themselves. I think they can get 10m for him, and I'd take that.

Or Watford could replace him with Ranegie who they already have on thier books.

It's cool - the pozzo's can replace Deeney with talent like Beleck, Acuna, Fabrinni, Rangererigigigie - you know, prolific strikers.

If only we could sign a midfielder on a free transfer who can score goals and chip in with assists.....

Just my opinion. Good player but not worth that much. Maybe £5mill at a push. Shane Long is a proven player in the Premierleague, and Jay Rodriguez has always been a different class.

Who's even said that with regards to selling Deeney? He'd be quite a large loss as he's more than just a presence on the pitch, but for £8 million I'd grab it and run a mile before Lambert realises what he's done.

We need TWO 20-goal strikers if we want to get promoted, not just rely on the one. We can use the money to buy either a back-up for Ranegie or someone to compete with Ranegie (Assombalonga/anyone else), along with Vydra/someone like him and Tozser. Couple the potential £8 million (if indeed it does happen) with the money we'll get from selling some of the players who are likely to not play here again (Iriney, Acuna, Fabbrini) and that could be enough to buy all those (if we need to) as well as a CB.

Alternatively (and most likely), it'll be used to buy some players for those positions and cover the wages of anyone else we get in on frees.

You mention bringing in players to replace Deeney at the same time as mentioning selling players who were meant to replace Hogg, Eustace and Vydra this season and failed in order to further fund this.

It just highlights that it's not always that simple and in doing so we would be risking another season like this one.
