Someone posted a picture of themselves (via Spotted:Watford) on facebook with Gordon Strachan outside the vic at the bournemouth game. Can you bet on players being included in international squads?
It wouldn't, as they're ten miles apart and Scotland being at LC doesn't explain why he's at the Vic!
He must be aware of Anya. Scotland due to their limited player pool have constantly particularly with the now more relaxed rules on player qualification, been looking to recruit players with Scottish grandparents or having been born within the country. Liam 'Birdbath' aka Bridcutt for example who has matured into a pretty decent holding midfielder.
I had a word with Gordon last week , Anya will be in the next squad. He didn't want to embarrass the England full backs by introducing a Championship wingback in a friendly match.
Suit the Scotland system down to the ground. Forest on the right gives them loads of pace so Anya on the left will give them good balance. It makes you wonder about their scouting system that he has slipped through their net so dar
in all honesty his career hadnt really merited international consideration, even for Scotland, until 2/3s through last season.
I live in Glasgow and once I saw this thread I decided to ask people the question ''Anya for Scotland?'' I mainly got the reply ''Who?'' and a couple said he wasn't good enough but I don't think they've seen him play. I don't think he'll be in Scotland squads for a wee bit longer if I'm honest and there certainly isn't any rumours of him being looked at for consideration.
Apparantly he doesn't qualify for Scotland until spent a drunken night sleeping in the doorway of a Pret a Manger in the West End.
He should play for Nigeria if given the opportunity because he will get to play in tournaments and have a realistic chance of winning something with them.
***ITK alert*** Wee Gordie has already been watching the wee lad Ikechi. Was nt in the squad to face England because Strachan wanted to repay the players who d played for him so far by sticking with same squad.... but he will be featuring soon
So many stupid jock ***** on twitter going on about how he doesn't sound Scottish and all this bull****, they're lucky to even have a player as good as him, thick Scottish skirt wearing *****
I bet 3/4 of the 'Scottish sounding' names in their squad were born in England... what a bunch of muppets Oh well, congrats to Ikechi of course, long overdue call up for him
Massive congratulations to Ikechi! A player that doesn't take anything for granted and will be so proud to wear the shirt. The good thing for Scotland fans is that he has been picked on his footballing ability and not his name.
I was told that at the Reading game, pretty sure Strachan has not mentioned anything about Anya by then. Either way, Im sure its not really important, I was being irreverent rather than especially serious about it. Perhaps not take it so earnestly?
Just had a thought, there is always a slight chance that Anya will turn down the call if he's hankering for a call up from Nigeria, Romania or Lebanon instead. Always a chance...
The Watford fan posting here (Number 7) doesn't seem to be a fan: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23815354
