I've read that Evangelista said that he doesn't want to move to Granada, is it true @sherlock?

By the way, Buonannote on loan to Pachuca (Mexico). Still Riki, Juanma Ortiz and Diakhate to leave (This one had sued us by the way, he wants to leave free and be paid for all the contract years he still have… WHAT?!) and still looking for a left winger and maybe a winger/offensive midfielder (Evangelista?)

Central defender is here: Nounkeu on loan from Galatasaray. Now we need the left winger.

Also Fatau is going on loan to Rayo Vallecano.

Zielinski has gone on loan to Empoli. Shame, was hoping to see him at WFC, maybe next year!

  5. Dyer maybe....?

No, its already done: Luis Martins (Portugal).

Also we have received on loan Eddy Silvestre (Murcia) with a buy option, he is a young dribbling player.

    Resurrecting the old thread!
As soon as the Muriel deal has an end (at last!) I'll post a synopsis of what happened.
No other serious movements so far (except a couple of fringe players gone on loan).
    I'll post here confirmed transfers.
Meanwhile, about rumours, Udinese is looking for a striker as Muriel's replacement and there's a strong rumour of interest in taking on loan Stipe Perica from Chelsea, with option to buy in summer for 5M€.

I hope rojiblancohorizontal will also keep us informed about Granada's transfers. It looks like they need some good reinforcements.

So, as promised, what happened with Muriel:
    - This should have been "his year" after awaiting him so long and after a disappointing 2013/14 (only 4 goals, three injuries during season).

    - But he disappointed again. 11 games played, never for full 90' and never convincing for fitness or grit on the field. Only one goal and countless times where Di Natale (37YO!) was running back to help the team while Muriel simply walked. Then another (long) injury. (http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/luis-muriel/leistungsdaten/spieler/119228)

    - In December, BEFORE the opening of the transfer window, Muriel gave a long interview to a Columbian newspaper while on holiday there saying basically he's very happy he'll be sold to Sampdoria, a "great" club. http://www.elheraldo.co/deportes/estoy-muy-cerca-de-llegar-la-sampdoria-luis-fernando-muriel-178696

    - In January, with the obvious huge advantage of having already the agreement of the player, Ferrero (Sampdoria's owner. To give you the idea, Cellino compared to him is a genius and a perfect English gentleman!) began talks with Pozzo.

    - Pozzo was forced to "contain damage" as keeping the unwilling player now would have been counterproductive.

    - First talks: Ferrero offers a pitiful 8M€. Pozzo asks 15M and sell-on clause.
    - Later Ferrero offers 10M and he doesn't want any sell-on clause. Pozzo asks 15M
    - Ferrero offers 12M. Pozzo says "OK but you take Andrea Coda too". Deal found!
    - (Note: Pozzo is not crazy of course. Coda is a "veteran" with a relatively heavy and long contract but is a bench-warmer at most now and difficult to sell. Giving him away means saving about 3M in wages.)

    - It's not ended yet. Muriel and Coda go to Genova for the medicals and they discover Muriel is injured (what a surprise! why didn't we field him then?). Ferrero asks for a large discount.
    - Pozzo answers with a strong official note from the club and orders the players to come back immediately as the talks are over! (http://www.sportal.com.au/football/...and-coda-samp-deals/16lekmt9t01j1byit8dfm6h3k)
    - Some more talks, final deal: no discount, 12M€ confirmed, but Udinese will continue to pay Muriel's wages until injury finished.

Absolutely NOT what was expected 1-2 years ago for the selling of Muriel (and from his performances for us), but the best that could be scraped by Pozzo given the situation, I guess.

Edit P.S.: forgot to say that the deal is a loan with clause to buy next summer for the above sum.

    Another one for the future.
I read that Udinese has bought the 16YO Leandro from Brazilian club Ponte Preta.
Original source seems to be http://globoesporte.globo.com/sp/ca...sub-17-leandro-ja-tem-acerto-com-udinese.html and that was written on March 6th, when 2015 South American Under-17 Football Championship had just begun and Leandro had 1 goal and 1 assist in the 3-2 win against Colombia.
Since then he scored 4 more goals and is currently tournment top-scorer!

I so love when our scouts come before anyone realizes there's a good player!

According to globo.com he'll stay at his club in Brazil until he's 18YO and will come in Europe in January 2017.

I don't know if it has been discussed elsewhere, but it seems to me the Pozzo family are hellbent to get the Hornets promoted to top flight English football.

Meanwile, Udinese are seemingly unable to get above mid table, and Granada are in real jeopardy of falling into relegation. How is this playing at Udine and Granada?

    Thanks for your insight!

I have no knowledge of Spanish second division football but I'd wager that achieving promotion from it is a hell of a lot easier than it is from the Championship.

Correct, I imagine if we go up, some of the players who aren't good enough for the prem will be moved to Granada in an attempt to go back up.

It's not that easy. There are some pretty decent sides in the Segunda. But as reids says a bit of player movement here and there will give Granada an advantage.

Well, if the player itself confirms in interview, I'd say Leandro coming in 2016 is not a rumour.

c.c.: You are aware that there are many scouts from European clubs at these tournaments?
L.: Yes, we know, we talked about it even with our coaches. But we try to have that not influence our game and not think about it.
    ...
c.c.: And now how do you think your career will go?
L.: I'm going to stay with Ponte Preta until I'm 18 and later I will go to Udinese in Italy. It is already set.
c.c.: Ah, well, rightly you're not concerned with foreign scouts.
He smiles the same way football has smiled on him. He's only 16 and in two more years the doors of Europe will open.

Here all the 8 goals that made him top scorer in recent South American Under-17 Football Championship.

From rumours it seems Colantuono, former coach at Atalanta, has already signed for Udinese.

The Pozzo's have long defended Stramaccioni and said they support him, but honestly (although we've never been in any danger of relegation) our current 16th place in table, if it should stay that after last match next Sunday, would be our worst result in these 20 consecutive years in serie A.
Very difficult to confirm a coach after that, even if you think he was somewhat unlucky.

Also about rumours, latest says that Guidolin is going to rescind very soon his contract as technical director with Udinese. http://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/udinese/?action=read&idtmw=685259
At the same time there are rumours about him as possible new coach at Fiorentina.
Yet ... he said he didn't want to coach other teams in Italy. Moreover, Firenze is a quite difficult place for a coach: fans are quite difficult to satisfy. Doesn't seem the ideal place for Guidolin so I doubt about this.
On the other hand, rescinding with Udinese would be a necessary preliminary step if he (maybe) has to sign with Watford.

Udinese are signing 21 year old left back Ali Adnan, labelled the Asian Gareth Bale. Daily Mail listed him in their top 20 young players last year and Arsenal and Dortmund were meant to be sniffing around.

After the not-so-wonderful career of the "Romanian Messi" (AKA Torje) I'm quite dubious about anyone dubbed as "the Asian Bale".
    We will see.
But ... there are some heavy limits on extra-EU players in team in Italy, based on number of new signings (a set of baroque rules I never really understood), so I'm not so sure Udinese is going to use one precious extra-EU slot for him, when there are quite a number of very good South-American players in the "rumours list".
Maybe he might end at Granada or ... at WFC maybe?
IIRC, the VISA for extra-EU players in England is almost automatic for internationals in a team ranked in first 75 for FIFA.
Ali Adnan is a full international since 2012 and Iran is 40th in FIFA ranking, so it would be more easy for WFC to sign him rather than Udinese spending one of its 2 new-extra-EU-player slots.

    http://www.fifa.com/fifa-world-ranking/associations/association=irn/men/index.html

Edit: reading more, it looks already official. Might be good news, although I still think he'll go (on loan or by transfer) to either Granada or WFC.
I read also he was almost going to enroll in Iraq army to fight against IS: this thing alone makes me appreciate him.

I've read he is going to be on loan in Granada so... The soldier coming to the Alhambra!

EDIT: Seems that Ali doesn't want to come to Granada (He wants to stay in Udine). In Granada we have it so clear: If anyone doesn't want to come, he doesn't come. We already had so many "class players" who came in holidays.

    Official now.
Andrea Stramaccioni will not be at Udinese next season, after the club decided not to take up their option of another year.

The former Inter Coach took over at Friuli in the summer, but could only guide the Zebrette to 16th place in Serie A, their worst finish since being promoted for the 1995/96 season.

“Udinese Calcio announces that a meeting between the directors and Coach Andrea Stramaccioni held today ended with the club deciding not to exercise the option of a contract renewal for the 2015/16 season,” a statement announced on the club’s official website.

“Therefore the relationship with the Coach will stop at its natural end on 30 June 2015.

“Udinese Calcio thanks Andrea Stramaccioni for the work he has done.”
