Grenada vs. Athletic Bilbao - Live on Sky @ 6.30 on Sunday In case anyone hasn't seen and fancies watching our Spanish brothers in la liga, they're playing Athletic Bilbao tomorrow night on SKY and I have a funny feeling that it should be a good game. I will definitely be watching.
I might catch some of that. Thanks Cheeky. Bilbao have been floundering and shipping goals and have had injuries to key players as well as selling Javi Martinez. Great club with currently one of the best coaches in world football Marcelo Bielsa the man who created the Barcelona formula and passed it onto Pep Guardiola. A good chance for Granada to pick up all three points. El Arabi has been their star performer and we'll see if he shines again today to move Granada further up the table to safety while leaving Bilbao in a more precarious position. Barcelona now lead La Liga by three clear points despite the absence of Messi who has become a father as Atletico Madrid slipped to a 2-0 defeat to Valencia. Soldado scored an excellent first which is well worth watching.
Watching it now,and according to the comms they have only won 1 in 10 and continue to struggle every year,and there last performance was woeful,one of the Granada players was banned for 10 games for throwing a bottle at the Ref lol.
Granada are losing 0-2 at half time to a brace from Aduriz. The first was a laughable penalty where Aduriz faked an injury to the face. The second from a neat ball from Ibai which caught the Granada defence on the hop. Adurzi took one shot that was blocked and then tucked in a rebound with Tono unsighted by Mainz in his line of sight. Granada ran proceedings before the penalty award but gradually Athletic despite their poor performance overall have crept into it. Muniain has shown a couple touches of genuine class. Brahimi has been the best player on show for Granada. Torje's appeal for a penalty was righty turned down but one can see why both sides are near the foot of the Primera. They can barely string a pass together constantly placing balls away from their intended recipients. Mico and Benitez on his return from a lengthy ban have been nondescript and Siqueiria has only managed a couple of his barn storming runs but with no end product. To be frank cannot see Granada getting back into this.
Final score Granada 1 Athletic Bilbao 2. The scrappiness of the first half carried on into the second. Despite the rain there was little free flowing passing football but a very stretched vertical game. Partly helped by the fact Bilbao didn't bother to sit back and played just the one defensive midfielder. Some lovely touches again from Muniain , Iraola and Susaeta but with little end product. Very bitty with lots of cards produced . Both keepers were rarely tested again. Efforts for Bilbao from Ibai and for Granada from Siqueira and Floro Flores were relatively comfortable saves. The introduction of El Arabi who has been Granada's leading light (and puzzlinly left on the bench) saw him bag his goal and see some hope for our brethren but the promise soon petered out as it did with the introduction of Floro Flores and the later addition of Orellana. If the Granada midfield cannot hold the ball or pass accurately it's going to make their lives very tough. I don't rate Iriney and Mico was wasteful most of the time. Benitez showed a couple of flashes here and there but it will take him time to get back up to speed. As I said you can see why both sides are in the mire and currently Granada are now second from bottom. Not a great spectacle at all.
I watched the game and unfortunately I have to say that Granada did not impress me very much. There was a real lack of creativity and why they left El Arabi on the bench I just don't know.
Just a slight misunderstanding in translation, although you are not actually incorrect; I think what you are trying to say is "We were Robbed" Which means you feel you did not deserve to lose ;D
I thought the referee apart from the penalty award had a relatively good game Roji. If there was retrospective punishment Aduriz should pick up a three game ban. What he did was disgraceful and he tried it on again in the first half.
Thanks, we were robbed then Muñiz Fernandez is one of the worst referees on La Liga, he likes to be the "one" in the match, and LFP let him does whatever he wants... It wasnt penalty, and Muñiz knows that, one penalty, makes a team doubt. And not only the penalty, no yellow cards to Athletic players when they were hard but to Granada players... even breathing. I dont feel like we deserve to loose, but we played against 12. Its a sad day. Next: Betis - Granada, Friday 9th
Better luck in the derby amigo. I did think Gurpegi and Amorebieta rode their luck. Mind you Dani nearly lost it at one point. He has a pretty short fuse.
