Heard on saturday that Tommy may well be on his way out of QPR on loan this january, and we are apparently very interested. I saw today that this has been repeated elsewhere and appeared on football rumours (highly unreliable), but I did hear about this beforehand.

Just wondering if any of our regular ITKs have heard anything similar.

Would love to see Tommy back for the rest of the season myself, would be a more than adequate replacement for Kights.

    Thoughts?

I'll check it out, if we could make it happen - would be absolutely delighted. One of my favourite Watford players of recent years, would be great to see him back.

Tom is appearing on the bench every game for QPR who don't exactly have a large squad. I know they have brought the lad in from Man Utd but I can not see him moving until the end of Jan if he does as it will depend on QPR transfer activity.

Would love him back to fill the gap on the left, definitely.

I remember when watfordlegends interviewed him when he was playing for Portsmouth & they asked whether he'd ever return to the club again in which he replied "definitely" so who knows! Would love to have him back.

Still loving him for leaving Rodgers waiting at a press conference with a Reading shirt with Smith on the back

I don't what the situation with TM contract is, but if QPR pay his wages to kept him match fit then I would say yes , if we are paying his wages why should we pay to get him fit for QPR to off load him at a fee.

I get what you mean and basically agree with it, but, as much as he's probably my favourite player of the recent times, it's not as straight forward as that.

He was fully on course to go and sign for Reading, with Rodgers, and that supporters hated him at the time. He never felt the same way as supporters (he shouldn't have to anyway, mind).

It's just that Portsmouth came in last minute offering more money.

It wasn't really that he rejected Reading because it was Rodgers there but just thought I'd attempt to clear it up a tad.

I'd certainly like him back here, but as it's previously been said, Malky will almost certainly try for him as well and personally I can see him choosing Cardiff over us.

like most i would love to have smithy back for the rest of the season. he is the sort of player who can change games with just a single decision, a bit like kights.

It seems that QPR will be flashing their cheque book so Tommy is likely to fall further down the pecking order. At his age he needs to be playing first team football and I think he would be more or less guaranteed a starting spot here. At Cardiff he would probably not be a regular in the starting eleven, but Cardiff have the financial resources to pay most if not all of his wages.

Hopefully Mr Warnock will look favourably on any request we put in bearing in mind we kept Heidar fit for them.

But played with for however long, and guessing they're mates.

Also even if he wasn't Cardiff's manager they still can offer him more money and the fact that they're a team with big promotion chances.

But then again he has history here and won't have to travel/move.

    http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/9455744.Dyche_smiles_at_Smith_return_talk/

“The Watford boss has smiled at speculation linking Tommy Smith with another return to Vicarage Road but admitted “you can never say never”.

The Hornets fans’ favourite has made 12 Premier League appearances for Queens Park Rangers this season but most of these have been from the bench.

The loan signing of Manchester United’s Federico Macheda has led to suggestions that the 31-year-old is dropping down the pecking order at Loftus Road, fuelling speculation that he could go back to the club where he first made his name and went on to make more than 300 appearances in two spells.

“If you noticed he missed one game, that was the first one he hasn’t been in for ages at QPR and all of a sudden he gets linked with us – it was truly amazing,” Dyche said yesterday.

“I think Tom’s going along reasonably well, I think he’s well thought of at QPR.

“You can never say never on these things but there’s no actual moment or connection where it’s all going to fall into place.

“Who knows but there’s certainly nothing to be read into that – at this moment anyway.

“I think someone on a website somewhere saw that he didn’t play and said ‘right, back to Watford’, but it’s not quite as simple as that.”

A friend of mine who is in with QPR told me a while back that Rangers had made a bid for Loach with TS coming back in some form or another. Dismissed it as *******s then, but since this has appeared...

Neil Warnock has apparently been sacked. If true, we will have a greater chance of signing Smith.

I would have thought we have less of a chance of signing him. Any new manager will want to look at all the players first and he might want to keep him.

Warnock likes Smith a lot and probably wouldn't have let him leave but with a new manager coming in, he'll want new players (particularly attacking ones if they want to stay up) which could free Smith to join us.

I think it gives us a better chance. The new manager is more likely to cash in on players like Smith and possibly H and bring in their own players to replace the some of the older ones already there.
