Entertain us with your tails of success and woe.

I've just started a game with Watford of course, and their huge 50k transfer budget! Very difficult to sign anyone atm.

I have it, downloaded on Steam last night and was playing by 10pm (ah the life of the unemployed).

I've started a game with my (very) local club Maidenhead United in the Blue Square South. Two games in we've lost one and won one. Leading my line I made the coup signing of a certain Gifton Noel Williams. Two in two games is a good return for him so far, but knowing FM (and Gifton) he'll get injured for a few months at some point thus derailing my season.

I haven't played FM for ages, but this version seems ok. I like the fact that you can actually have conversations with players and the board now. More realistic. However the game is now so complicated and in depth from the good old CM days!

I have finished lectures for the week, so my weekend is almost certainly going to consist of playing this.

Started up a game as Watford of course, pinged around a couple of loan bids, scraped a 2-1 win against the reserves thanks to a Don Cowie wonder strike in the 91st minute - which is not a very good result - but have already managed to pi$$ off Stephen McGinn after just a week in charge. Bad times.

Edit: Just signed Gael Kakuta and Freddie Sears on season long loan - paying 0% of wages, as well as Lansbury on a 3-month.

And, totally as predicted, 10 games in Gifton with 10 in 10 games gets injured for 3 to 4 months. Totally predictable. I know Gifton is injury prone, but as with most FM games of the past, if you pick up someone who is amazing in the lower leagues they more often than not always get injured. So at the mo I'm top of the league, but I now expect to slide down the table. Typical Football Manager.

    Typical FM indeed stuboy.

Meanwhile, im doing absolutely woefully with Watford. 10 games in, 2 points. Awful.

I thought i made some good signings aswell in...
    Henri Lansbury (loan)
    Andrew Davies (loan)
    Michael Ball (free)
    Seamus Coleman (loan)
    Fabio Borini (loan)
    Delron Buckley (free)

I think i may start again.

Well fired it up last night and it took about an hour and a half to hit continue for the first time. Spent that time just looking around and checking out a few players etc, working on some tactics. In the end i basically just copied my tactics from FM2010. A simple 4-1-2-2-3, DM, 2 CM's, 2 Wingers and a lone striker. Started out as Watford.

I had one game pretty much throughout FM2010, that i started when i got the game, taking Watford into the Premier League and cementing them as a top 10 club, winning the UEFA Cup in the process. Before Liverpool came calling. Many league titles and cups followed. Ended up doing about 20 seasons. So i'm going for the same sort of thing again. Take Watford as far as i can and then move on.

First things first, get some money in the bank. Jenkins was wanted by a couple of clubs so i offered him out for 2.5m. Leicester came in with 1.8m and 30% sell on fee, which i accepted and waved goodbye to Jenkins. Now i had a transfer budget of 250k, most of which was sacrificed to increase the wage budget. Signed Jasar Takak on a free, a solid looking Dutch midfielder who'd spent his career in the top league over there. Also brought in Wason Renteria, a Columbian striker on a free transfer as well as i didn't think Deeney and Graham would be enough. Decided a left winger was needed and came across Omar, a pacy dribbler from Tenerife who would only cost me 10k. Finally signed Lansbury and De Laet on loan deals for the season.

8 games in and i'm 4th, having won 4, drawn 3 and lost 1. The loss came on the opening day as Swansea scored a 94th minute winner after a host of missed chances at the other end. Highlights so far would be beating Norwich 5-3 at Carrow Road and a 3-2 win over 2nd placed Pompey thanks to a Renteria hat-trick. Renteria has 6 in 7 games. Cowie has been excellent from centre mid and surprisingly Lansbury has been inspired on the left wing, scoring and making a few goals already. Taylor has been a titan at the back and Loach has appeared to be reckless on many occasions so far. Oh and Freddie Sears lobbed him from inside his own half. Might be looking for a new keeper soon and cash in on him.

So far, i'm pretty impressed. I like the new agent negotiations and press conferences are a little less annoying being able to just click on your response. Quite like the player interaction features as well, although it's going to take some playing with to get used to judging who reacts well to certain comments etc. Must say, this feels the most complete version from the start for a long time.

I managed to sign Adriano Basso on a free and on a reasonably low wage. He's now my first choice keeper

Decided to start a new game and manage Watford, even though I was doing ok with Maidenhead. Just couldn't resist taking us to glory....maybe.

Reached January with Stevenage, I'm 16th and I've made quite a few freebies, but I need to reduce the wage bill slightly. I've made a few decent loan signings including Piero Mingoia and I signed a lot of unattached players that are doing pretty well. The amount of injuries and the timing of them are irritating as usual but I suppose that's all part of the game

Very impressed with the game and love the better interaction with the board and players

Started a game as Watford last night and have made a very good start to the first half of the season.

Started off pre-season in great form, only losing 1 game to Chelsea 2-1 with an own goal by Mariappa in the dying seconds of the game.

In the first transfer window there was a fight for Ross Jenkins signature and I eventually agreed a fee with Leicester of £2million plus a 40% sell on fee.

I have signed 2 players on free transfers. As recommended by Luke, Jasar Takak signed a 3 year deal with the Golden Boys.

I have also signed a french striker on a free, but I cannot remember his name, I will post it later. He has done ok for me, coming on as sub so far this season and grabbing 4 goals. He is currently pushing for a start along side Danny Graham.

I asked the board for a parent club so we could get some quality players in on loan. They came back with 3 clubs and one of them was Man Utd, so I went with them and signed Bebe on a 3 month loan deal which expired but he was on fire for me and tore the championship apart scoring 4 goals in 12 games with 9 assists.

Jose Baxter was brought in for 3 months and scored 7 goals, his loan deal has expired and was very sad to leave us and due to exceeding the loan limit I cannot re-sign him.

I have hopped over the fence and signed Henri Lansbury on a season long loan deal and he has made the left hand side of midfield his own since the departure of Bebe.

Fabio Borini has also joined on a season long loan deal, and after a quiet start he has scored in his last 4 games for us.

Danny Graham is on fire with 13 goals to his name so far this season, but I have had to have a word with him regarding his temper due to being sent off 2 times already this season. I have fined him a total of 3 weeks wages which he accepted and vowed to calm down.

Don Cowie is my star player with asist after assist, he a scored some vital goals for me too. With interest from Newcastle and WBA Don has signed a new contract until 2014 and committed his future to the Golden Boys.

The season started well, I was unbeaten for 7 games and was joint top with Nottingham Forest. As soon as Bebe and Baxters loan deals finished I started to slip away. Falling to 8th in the league and 12 points behind the leaders.

After my form picking up and gaining wins in Nov and Dec I currently lie 4th and the board are delighted with how I am doing.

I have asked the board to make further transfer funds available to match my ambition which they have agreed to do in the Janurary transfer window.

Highlight of the first half of the season: Beating Forest 4-1 when 8th with Troy Deeney scoring a hatrick after being out injured for 2 months with a broken rib.

I shall report back when I have finished the season.

The wheels are falling off now for my Watford game, as usually happens. Drew three games in a row 2-2 after being 2-0 up in all of them, and then lost the next 3, including a 3-1 away defeat to bottom club Barnsley. It's not looking good. Deeney was on form but got sent off and banned for 3 matches, when he came back he got sent of again straight away and banned for 2 more matches. Graham has been rubbish and we have generally been woeful. It's a shame as we were 4th after 8 games.

Next two matches are away at runaway leaders Burnley and then Leeds. Looks like I'm doomed.

played through from my demo game and got to 3 games before the seasons end before getting sacked for being in 17th having lost the last 5 on the trot as key players were out injured

have now gone back and started over hoping to learn from my mistakes

have brought in lansbury and jordan spence on season long loans and managed to sign aliadiare, jose goncalves, bernard mendy and anderson da silva on free transfers

ross jenkins went to leicster for 1.4 million and stephen mcginn decided he wanted out so has gone to burnley for 100k

lets hope i fare a little better this time around

Ah the good old 'crash dump' screen for the third time today. This is sh*t and putting me off the game. However I've done a bit of research and it suggests going into preferences and unticking the 'enable data collection' box. So I have done this. If I get more sh*tty crash dumps I think I might put FM11 away for good, which is ashame as I've got back into it for the first time in over a year.

I think so, well for FM10 anyway. I got the handheld version for my iphone, cost about £5. It might be less now as it's out of date.

'twas ok when I was sat waiting for a flight earlier this year.....then i forgot about it.

Well my plan to stop the crash dumps didn't work. Looks like I might be putting FM11 and FM in general to bed forever. What a waste of time, think I should stick to my Xbox.

Stuboy, get on the SIGames forums and see what other advice you can get in regards to crash dumps, it is fixable.

    EDIT:

    Crash Dumps Prevention

There are certain things that increase your chances of getting an error, here is a list

    1) FMRTE - Just dont go there, it screws your data base up beyond repair, you will not be able to get your corrupt save back if you have used this editor. Sometimes its been to known to cause damage to your windows registry too, unless SI make an official in game editor, using third party programs like this is all to risky stay away.

    2) Size of Game - Even though I believe I have found the solutions to 99% of crash dump issues, it does not change the fact the game is not without major issues, the games coding causing endless memory leaks that lead to Crash Dumps errors.
So what I'm saying is try to go easy on your database size, either slow or at most medium size data base when starting a new game.
Also dont go crazy with the amount of leagues you select to be playable, if you have a good system 10 leagues at max.
If you must have lots of leagues and large data base I recommend you have at least 6GB of DDR2 or DDR3 ram, if you have an older system DDR ram will not cut it for crazy data base sizes.

3)Everything Up to Date ? - Make sure the following are up to date
+ Graphics Card Driver (Use manfactures site, sometimes windows will not find the most up to date driver)
+ Java - Make sure you have the latest Version
+Direct X - Latest Version your system is compatible with

    4) General Settings in Game These are optional but I recommend you use these settings to prevent errors.
    Uncheck the following boxes
    +Use Skin Cache
+ Enable Data Collection (This is an important one, it will stop FM constantly building up the RAM useage and prevent Crash Dumps)
+ Play in Windowed Mode, Minimize, and Maximize Every Hour.
+ Disable sounds, and 3D cameras, the 3D sucks anyway text all the way.
+Play with Autosave weekly, 3 file rolling save for back ups, better safe than sorry.
+ Uncheck Threading, if you have a Dual Core processor, you do not need this to be checked, it takes away a complication. However if you have one processor with Threading technology keep it ticked, other wise the game performance will be poor.

    5) Your Hardware Before Playing FM 2010 you need to be confident your hardware is all fully working, so you can rule that out if you need to trouble shoot in case you get the Crash Dump.
Consider and do the following before installing the game

+Power Supply - Is it at a high enough Voltage for my Graphics card ?, find out and upgrade power supply if need be, you should not be using a Graphics card if your power supply is under the recommended amount, your system will become very unstable, let alone Football Manager.

+Hard Drive Error Free, run Chkdsk, a windows tool to see if your hard drive has any errors.
To run chekdsk press the windows button and R, then in the run box type in CMD, the in the black command box type in chkdsk and press enter.
You should have a report of no errors, or windows will fix errors

+ Faulty RAM - This was the culprit for me, run a program called MEMTEST86, you need to download and Burn it to CD, restart your PC with the CD in the drive and let it scan.
If you are error free all good, if not note which RAM slot is reporting errors, remove or replace that RAM.http://www.memtest86.com/

+Dust Bunnies - Your system would be unstable in general if you have these, if it is a little unstable check the innards of your PC for obvious dust, blow to free dust from sensitive areas.

If you ever get Blue Screen errors while browsing, gaming, multi tasking, then Football Manager will certainly Crash Dump you ass.

Okay if you follow all these steps prior to installing your game you are very unlikely to get the crash dumps error again.
