Driving to work stupidly early this morning I had Capital Radio on so I could hear the latest traffic report, (always wise when thinking about the M25). Johnny Vaughn started talking about the Summer Ball thing at Wembley Stadium and to text in the word "usher" to enter for tickets. As my eldest has hounded me for the last 4 weeks to try and get tickets I sent off the text and forgot about it.

As I got out of the car at work the phone rang with an 0207 number. Bl**dy h*ll, it must be Capital I thought, so I answered the phone with as cheery a "hello" as I could muster. The girl on the phone said I was on the shortlist to be rung by Johnny, so I had to make sure I knew who I wanted to see at the Ball and to say a big thankyou to Capital if I won. Blimey!

So as soon as I walked into the building I looked it up on the web and realised why I wouldn't be the one going with my Daughter. JLS, Cheryl Cole, Alexander Burke, Justin Beiber? Err no thanks, the wife can take her. Then I saw the date, (June 6th), the day that both my daughters have huge football tournaments and I knew that I could never, ever win those tickets due to the issues and rows it would cause at home. Never mind, at least I got onto the short list.

Then the mobile rang again, this time number witheld. I didn't answer the phone :dismay:.

Think yourself lucky you didn't have to speak to Johnny Vaughan.:sign15:

He's not that bad on a good day. I won a competition there many many years ago and had to speak on air to that dodgy hypnotist Paul McKenna when I won a Grand Prix prize. The prize never turned up, I was gutted.

Then even more years before that I got on air on the breakfast show when now dead Jeremy Beadle was running a competition called "name the donkey". I didn't win so wasn't able to name it after my now long standing missus. Good job too or things may have turned out very differently.

If your daughters read this - they will probably hate you until they're at least 20.

That landfill of artists is like a little girls dream.

I won tickets to an XFM sesh by The Enemy a while back. I think I got on the radio. First and only time I've won anything.

Not my thing, but I could have had a forum competition for them though :dismay:.

My daughters know about it now and they weren't best pleased to start with.

I got on Talksport a few years ago and won a signed copy of the Sven Sven Sven CD single.

(signed by Tony Cascarino... must be worth a fortune) :(
