Definately getting there. What needs to be kept in mind is that Gloryhorns uses the hert quite strongly, so Hornmeisters badge with the upper part showing was preferrable. As Nak also said, I'd prefer a different shadow colour, perhaps white, perhaps quite a dark colour that might look like it almost indented into the background.
For a first effort thats pretty good. I like the background effect. As I said to Emma above, the hert is very much associated with Gloryhorns, so perhaps look for a different symbol. It might also be worth looking up "photoshop text effects" on Google for some great ideas.
If I'm really honest then I have to say that I'm not so keen. It doesn't look very smooth and straight around the red badge and the block of bright colour isn't great for the eye. Also, if I was new to this forum I would be wondering who that was in the picture and it would also look like he has 1 leg. As for the text, the black outline is very rough, it doesn't look smooth and I also believe that the yellow text under it could be connected better. It looks to me as though you've done two text layers and put one over the over, there's better ways of doing 3D text that makes it look very connected. Sorry if it seems harsh, your very good at graphics but I'm just not really keen on this. This is just my opinion though.
Like Meister, I like the silhoette, and like Nak, I'm not keen on the red badge. This is when we get inspiration, when the ideas and suggestions are flowing so keep them coming. I have an idea of my own now which I'll put together later, but imagine this, think of the header as block as a few millimeters thick with the letters punched out so there are holes in the shape of WFCFORUMS. Behind that there is a picture of the vic, or the club badge. Get me :rolleye1:
I mean you wouldn't know who the silhouette is of. It's more the fact that it looks like he has one leg that I don't like. The silhouette doesn't really matter but it's a little thing.
If you are going to design your own Logo then it needs to something that is reconsisable in some way with the club. Watford legends have come up with a good one as it looks like an extention of the club. The Logo is a representation of the brand, the forum being the brand and as far as we the punters are concerned the brand represents the thoughts, opinions and the supporters of the club. Glory horns do make a lot of the Hert but they don't use the badge shape that is the other reconisable feature of the club. What else are we assosiated with, gold, yellow ? So a good start would be a Gold outline of the badge. Personally i would go for strong, bright gold, transpartent if possible. Another strong brand that they club have used is the over crossing W in the word Watford. The other stricking letter is the F, tall and curved. Both handy as they both feature in the forum name. By using the Badge shape, the W and the F you have a good basis to come up with a reconisiable forum logo. It needs to be clear, neat, tidy and almost corporate to give it the maximum visual effect. Nak and Emma are the graphic guru's. I just have good ideas but haven't a clue how to draw them.
If gloryawns have the hart why can't we have Harry the Hornet? Or if you don't like Harry, then A. N. Other Hornet?
Dont like it. Get emmas one with the silouette, change the red badge to yellow and maybe a different silhouette (still doyley preferebly)
Yes, but I think just Harry's head is better than a body shot. Like scummy had but that seems to have disappeared.
? I give up. Concentrating on finishing my requests - may be back with a revised one in a few days if we havent already picked one.
Emma this was the sort of thing i was thinking about, as a site logo rather than the page header. It would need a lot of work by someone who knows what they are doing. The fonts all wrong for example and its very rough.
I agree with WAS, we need a unique logo linking something about the club, with something about the forum. Pictures of players etc could be added to the header/rotated as and when appropriate (eg new signings) just as we have done in the past, but what we don't have is the logo. most of the designs have been excellent, but have been a collection of items synonimous with the club, but not a single logo. Admin/Horn, am I heading off track from what you are looking for? I'll have a play on ****. I was thinking of forming something with the black and yellow "halves" from our badge, plus some keyboard key letters to bring in the forum element...
Agreed. Also I see that the Watford badge you've used is an older version so you could perhaps change it to the latest one unless your going for the 'retro' look.
