As soon as I say South Oxhey some of you will ignore this but here it goes anyway.

Next Friday will be the starting broadcast date for 101.8 Youth FM.

It is a short term radio station set up in South Oxhey broadcasting up until Christmas Eve. I am not a fan of R & B type songs but that would be the main category playing on the station with a few christmas songs added to the mix too.

As I am helping run the station I would like to invite anyone that wants to take part and/or have there own time slot. You are more than welcome to PM me.

As I will also be having my own time slot, you can also request a song, obviously we would have to see if it is in the playlist first.

I will set up another thread closer to the time with more details: such as; phone; text; and e-mail contacts.

    I request that you don't play R&B.

Kyle, you go dude good luck the streaming is rubbish on-line get them to sort it out so I can listen.

Its funny how the hardest kids on the planet play the girliest music, is that some sort of compensation!

I have to agree that R&B and Xmas music both suck but hey hope you enjoy the experience.

Radios across the South Oxhey area were tuned to a station with a difference today as the teenage DJs at Youth FM hit the airwaves for a second day.

The station, which has been granted a temporary licence until Christmas Eve, began broadcasting yesterday from the youth centre in Gosforth Lane.

Produced by and targeted at teenagers, programmes will provide local youngsters with advice, opinions, and, of course, their favourite music.

DJ and radio presenter Matt Cadman, the brains behind Watford's Vibe FM, got the project up-and-running and has been lending his expertise to the volunteers.

He explained: “I thought it would be a really great idea in a place like South Oxhey. There can be a lot of anti-social behaviour so this is chance for young people to come together and work together on something positive.

“All the presenters are teenagers who are doing this for the first time. So far they've done brilliantly and taken a lot out of it.

“I hope we can do it again later in the year because a lot of the kids involved have really come out of themselves as a result.”

Dani Cornelius, 19, of Anthony Close, was hosting this afternoon's show. She said: “People say I talk a lot and never shut up so it's probably the perfect job for me.

“I would like to be a presenter when I'm older so this is great experience for me that I might not get anywhere else.”

Drive time presenter Kyle Waller, 17, of Embleton Road, is studying journalism at West Herts College.

He presented his first live show yesterday.

He said: “I was really nervous about it but I really enjoyed it. I made a few mistakes but it was a great thing to be involved with.”

Fellow first-timer Jonnie Folmer, 16, of Lincoln Drive, presented this morning's breakfast show. He said: “It's been great for me, I've met new friends and speaking on the radio has really helped to build my confidence.

“I wasn't sure if I could do it or not but it was great. I'd definitely like to do it again.”

Youth FM, broadcast on 101.8FM, will also play host in the next few days to some very serious guests and discussions. Youth centre manager Heather Wallace said it would broadcast features about bullying, drugs, and even sexual health in a bid to provide valuable information to its young audience.”

    Which one are you? :]];)
