20' in to the first Galaxy game after Edson Buddle and Landon Donovan play upon their return from South Africa, Buddle scores another goal...

Bob Bradley, kiss my Red White and Blue ass on this fine 4th of July.

    Did the G win?

  7. Fitz

    Fitz Squad Player

    Yes the G's won 3-1.
The crowd went absolutely wild for Buddle and Donovan and when Buddle scored, the roof came off the place.

Instantly, chants of "**** Bob Bradley!" appeared all across the stadium.

The idea is that Coach Bob kept the hottest striker in US football on the bench during the World Cup preferring the pointless Robbie Findley who blew at least two good chances and killed a half dozen more.

But findley has such pace.. did u not see all those runs he made to open up the defense....

  9. Fitz

    Fitz Squad Player

He scored yesterday, too. He came off the bench as always for RSL.

Starts in South Africa, off the bench in MLS...

    **** Bob Bradley.

Yea.. nothing u can really say about that.... When is Charlie back?

I'm thinking he will be back in time for everyone considering player selection for 2014 to realize he will never be the same player he was before they had to remove his face to reconstruct his skull.

from the night we beat the Sounders at home over the weekend:

Tonight however, our 'B' team lost the their 'B' team in US Open Cup play eliminating the Galaxy from the oldest soccer cup competition (1913, I think).

We must now concentrate on Champions League (CONCACAF version!) and the League title...

  14. Fitz

Galaxy are 9 Pts clear of the rest of the league, and go to work against the Earthquakes Thursday night with all hands back.

Galaxy play the Puerto Rico Islanders at home the following Tuesday in the CONCACAF Champions League early round.

The MLS All Star team roster includes 4 Galaxy players and will be coached by Bruce Arena of the Galaxy...they face a preseason Manchester United squad in the exhibition game next Wednesday night, a day after playing in the Champions League. Rooney is not expected to play.

    Some news on the homefront:

    from Goff's blog and Twitter

    Ronaldinho
*The Los Angeles Galaxy is interested in Ronaldinho -- no secret there. The contract offer that I've heard: $24 million for four seasons. According to one source, the Galaxy sees Ronaldinho as one of the few players available on the international market who can "move the needle" in the general U.S. public.

    Emilio
Luciano Emilio, the 2007 MLS most valuable player waived by D.C. United last week, has had preliminary conversations with both the Galaxy and Columbus Crew.

    Mathis to retire?
*As first seen on the Insider's Twitter page earlier today, MLS veteran attacker Clint Mathis is considering retiring in the coming weeks. "It will probably happen," one source said. "Knees can't take the beating anymore." Mathis, 33, has appeared in nine league matches with the Los Angeles Galaxy for a total of 182 minutes this season, his 13th as a professional. He's earning $120,000. No comment from the club or his representative.

If my dislike for the redbulls could increase any more Marquez looks set to be on the way. Sorry Fitz but if he comes in i don't see how they don't win the Cup

  16. Fitz

    Fitz Squad Player

No need to say sorry to me. Say sorry to RBNY when they don't and scream in pain and agony WHY?!?

Marquez is cancer. Adjusting to one big new player is hard...even if he isn't a douche like Beckham. But adjusting to 2 players one of whom will eat your soul from the inside will be tough. The first season will basically be a write-off. Second season will show some potential. 3rd season is the one they should be expecting big results.

Stupid Earthquakes scored early on the Galaxy last night...they ended up drawing 2-2, after Buddle and Donovan willed in two goals, the last in stoppage.

The Galaxy are playing a wide range of guys so they can be fresh for the Champions League...that meant the risible Alan Gordon started and screwed up many chances for Buddle, and one of the young Brazilian defenders "blew coverage" and let Bobby Convey score in the 2'...

They better beat Puerto Rico on Tuesday...

    Justin Mapp to the Union!

  19. Fitz

    Fitz Squad Player

You're happy now, but eventually you will be like "why can't we trade this jackass?"...

He can be frustratingly inconsistent. But if Edson Buddle can get on track like he has, so can Mapp.

Are the New York Red Bulls serious contenders?

They looked good against Man City the other night. Granted, City had players missing, but the boy Dane Richards looked good on the wing and scored a screamer to win it.

RBNY is on 26 points, 14 behind the Galaxy, if the league was a single table. It isn't though, and the Red Bulls are second behind Columbus in the east. This means they are likely to make the playoffs where anything can happen.

Mind you, the team just added both Rafa Marquez and Henry, so the team will evolve over the scone half of the season. My guess is that they will have trouble adjusting and show flashes of brilliance but in the end won't succeed this year.

Fitz just turned the game on and ur down 3 nil in the 70th min.. what is going on

  23. Fitz

    Fitz Squad Player

I don't know... It was ridiculous. I left for the parking lot at the 3rd goal. Drinking cheap beer in the parking lot was preferable. No idea what went on. They weren't in it from the get go.

"MLS's best club, the Los Angeles Galaxy, was embarrassed at home by the second-tier Puerto Rico Islanders, 4-1, in the first leg of a CONCACAF Champions League preliminary-round series Tuesday night."

Any of the American lot watching the MLS all stars vs Man Utd?

Just found a stream, brilliant goal by Darren Gibson.

    EDIT:

Wow what a goal by Cleverley, 4-1 to United now. Watford got a quick mention by the ESPN2 commentators.

    Landon Donovan coming on.

I heard Cleverly scored, good for him. The All Star games are awful.

"Defending" and "All Star Game" are mutually exclusive concepts. I can't believe this game got shown worldwide. It is the one game MLS fans don't watch. 70,000 Manyoo and Chicharito fans in the stadium though....there is no accounting for taste.

Four Galaxy players were on the roster, three saw playing time. We MLS fans vote on who gets selected for the All Star Game online. Typically teenage boys and girls vote for their teams players, but adults vote to get as many of their opponents players in as possible to expose them to unnecessary injury and possibly keep them out of a league game.

The players are painfully aware of the risks and don't do much to strain themselves. What kind of entertainment is that?

I think the MLS All Star game is a bad idea all around.

Do you have East v West as well?

  31. Fitz

    Fitz Squad Player

    No, not anymore.

It used to be East vs West, and at one point I think they even did USA vs non-USA players, but nobody cared so they hitched their wagon to traveling preseason Euro teams and now the games sell out to MLS hating so called "euro-snobs", Americans who exclusively follow English/Spanish/German teams, what you would probably call 'glory hunters'.

Last season, starting right back for the Galaxy Sean Franklin was hurt and out for 3 months in the same Barcelona friendly that ended starting Galaxy forward Alecko Eskandarian's career thanks to a concussion. I really hate these friendlies.

What American soccer player do these two words connote?

    Guess where he's going?

Very enjoyable day out at the Rose Bowl for the Galaxy v Real Madrid game.
Lots of beer, sun, some pickup footy, more beer, some BBQ, more beer, & then a game.

Our 7 starters beat their 2 starters in the first half 2-0 while their 6 starters beat our 3 starters 3-0 in the second half
