Zheng Zhi has just turned down a new contract with Charlton as he does not want to play in Division 1. Decent player if a little unlucky with an injury last season; came back and put in some good performances in the latter part of the season. Could we afford his wages?
I dunno what his wage demands would be... but anything more than minumum wage and I'd guess not. The other thing is- if he doesn't want to play in League 1, why would he risk coming to us!
The like of Zhi and Nicky Bailey, though the midfield partnership of relegated Charlton, will still see us as a step down and would want far too much wages for little old Watford I am afraid. A bigger club will go for Zhi, if not just for commercial reasons, with him being the main Chinease star, I can see him joining Shef Utd with all their Chinease connections.
Good point about commercial reasons i think we should push the boat out to sign could become a financial innsentive !
We should of followed up signing up eastern european players, there is already enough of them in this country to become fans!
