http://www.sheffieldunited-mad.co.uk/news/loadroll.asp?cid=ED11&id=398285 Not sure on the reliability of the source, but I can't say I'd be sad to see him go, especially if we get a decent fee for him.
If he goes and we are not signing any players, who will go upfront. Doubt he will go or maybe a player exchange could be involved.
It'd kind of make sense though, with Hulse more than likely off to Derby and Beattie apparently out for a couple of months, Henderson seems a direct replacement... As you say though, we'd pretty much have to have someone else lined up as a replacement, otherwise our forward line really would be a joke.
We are taking somewhat of a risk if we sell our only striker to have ever scored any serious amount of goals at this level aren't we? I doubt its true to be honest.
If we sell Hendo now I think I'll throw myself off the Rookery, farking Theo and Priskin upfront next season!?!?!?!
i dont think hendo will be in our plans next year if we change our gameplan and stop playing hoofball
Hendo is much more than a target man. Given the right service he's a good poacher as well. I'd be sad to see him go and if we do not have a replacement lined up I'd also be furious. A forward lineup picked from Moses, Theo, Priskin and Hoskins is a pretty scary thought.
I can understand why people think he is the main reason for hoof ball. But then again when we didnt hoof in the away leg and he scored a good goal from linkup play with Williamson. Plus if we are changing formation and only playing one upfront I think he is the only one who can hold up the ball and bring the attacking mid in the hole and wingers into play. Also I think we could become a small side if we've got the likes of Harley as left back and even possibly Parkes as right back, so he could be kept just for his height for defensive free kicks/corners aswell. Henderson record in the champ isnt bad. He's a good plan B of the bench if worst comes to worst. I can see Watford fans getting on the players back's anyways and us resorting back to long ball. It was happening last season at times when we tried to be patient and passing it along the back and in midfield fans were getting frustated big time.
he is a better than average target man it was the service he was getting from the likes of JS and JJOT that was average
Incorrect, here's why... - His ariel ability really isn't all that, he fails to get off the ground without climbing over defenders and regularly gives away silly fouls. - His touch is a f**king embaressment, a good tight first touch is essential for a target man as it allows him to hold the ball up effectively. - A good target man is able to link up with the players around him, this is usually done with short simple passes. Henderson struggles with even the most basic of link-up play (the goal vs. Hull doesn't change this).
Totally correct and when you add to that for the last 2 seasons he's been totally unable to hit a very large barn door from anything more than 3 paces and the quicker he's gone the better. I'd be happier going in with Priskin and either Theo or Hoskins than the donkey.
Many of you know that I am by no means Hendo's biggest fan. But what kind of message does it send out to fans if we sell last seasons top scorer? Yes, Hendo is carp but he's still decent for a goal here and there. I can't see Theo/Hoskins/anyone else (bar Priskin) scoring more than 5-7 goals next season. Henderson has reached double figures for us in 2 of his 3 seasons at the club. That's a decent record if you ask me. I'm not against selling him - if we were being offered silly money (£1.5 mil upwards) I'd be all for getting rid of him, as I'd back Aidy to sign a better striker and still have change. However for the time being it would be a travesty if we sold Hendo.
Hendo really tries. He is a God. He has better skill than most of the above posters realise and if a club like Sheffield United are coming in for him, that proves it. I'd be really disappointed with the club if they decide to sell Doris.
you both may be right but who else have we got that has scoed 1 in 3 for us ? Unless Aidy has a replacement lined up this is a very dodgy move
If effort was the sole quality he'd be a superstar, unfortunately he has the pace of a snail and displays the footballing brain of a newt. If he's a God then the sooner he's in heaven the better, or maybe Sheffield Utd is his idea of heaven, if so the sooner he farks off the better.
Wow something we agree on. You forget to mension that every game he plays you fear he is going to get sent off and that he seems to every game pick up a yellow card and then miss a big game.
By really tries what you mean is 'runs around like a headless chicken'. A god ?? Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!! Do explain what skills you see. A good point, alot of the time he ends up getting himself far too involved with the opposition CB and spends most of his time concentrating on lumping him one.
That's what I like about Doris, you get these pansy players diving, while Doris physically makes them fall over. Viva La Doris !
In NOTW today: Sheffield United have bid 2.5million for Watford striker Darius Henderson. The Blades have stolen a march on Wolves and Birmingham who also fancy the player. United boss Kevin Blackwell sees Hendo, 26, as a replacement for Rob Hulse who is joining Derby.
At 2.5 I'd sell. 2.5 is a tad morethan I think he's worth. But I'd rather take some of that cash in Billy Sharpe I think.
Harsh - I'd say about 1 mio more than he's worth. The best bit is that on Footie-rumours some guy is stating that the deal could be worth up to 4.5 mio. Now THAT's a pizztake.
